We stayed at Hotel Horta for three nights in March. Unfortunately, we flew from Sao Miguel to Faial in the evening, arriving at just before 9:00 pm at the airport. The drive to the hotel was a little tricky in the dark. I had googled directions, which didn't really get us there, and there wasn't the signage than we had come to expect on Sao Miguel, but eventually we found it. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast buffet was lovely, all fresh food and lots of choice. We had a wonderful view of the harbour and Pico Island and mountain (although never the top of the mountain) from our balcony. There is a small parking lot beside the hotel belonging to it, which we had no difficulty parking in as we were there in low season, but there is a free parking lot right across the street which is also available. Because we had rainy, misty weather, we drove to restaurants (Genuino, Atletico), rather than walking as would have been our choice. Hotel Horta is a very good choice if staying in Horta.

Our room was average and the bed wasn't what as good as the Tempurpedic that I am used to sleeping on. That being said, the free breakfast buffet wasn't bad and the front desk were very helpful. The parking lot is small, but we always seemed to find a spot. I can't imagine that would be the case during busy season. My GoPro did go missing during our stay, but the hotel "found" it and are supposed to be contacting me to send it to me. (I've been back a week and haven't heard from them since I left there).

We stayed at Hotel Horta as part of an Azores Getaway tour package. The rooms all face the harbor and have the best view of Pico Island. The rooms looked recently refurbished and are nicely appointed. The included morning breakfast is more than adequate. We found we could walk from the hotel to the restaurants we wanted—all are within a 20 minute walk. We would definitely stay here again.

From the minute we checked in, I knew this was going to be a very pleasant stay. We were graciously greeted by Luis, who could not be more helpful or accommodating with our luggage. The room was spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The view from the room was amazing! The included breakfast buffet was quite varied and the coffee was extra good! The location is proximate to several dining option, as well as shopping and city center.

This is a run-down hotel that has seen better times! Decoration is dated and worn-out. Avoid the buffet meal at all costs, different types of boiled pasta as side dish (spaghetti and tagliatelle) and pudim from a box (boca doce)! There are far better places to stay.

I am not the kind of guy who needs to stay at The Westin or The Ritz when I travel for vacation, but I do care about clean and fresh, as well as friendly and helpful staff. Hotel Horta has it all. Raphaela in the dining room is a sweetheart. (I'm the guy the with his shirt inside out...great moment) Lukas was terrific too and so was Bill the bartender. I think that was his name. The breakfast is fine, the beds are a little hard, but it is definitely clean and friendly. I would stay there again and so would my girlfriend. Parking is easy.

The location was great, you are close to everything and you have the best view in your room from ocean and the city. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was a little boring but good enough. Rooms are very clean and it has everything you need. There is a charge for using the safe box. Overall it was a great hotel for our short stay at Horta.

We chose this hotel when we purchased the Azores getaway package that brought us to the Azores and to the island. It was a wonderful choice and had a wonderful staff that was very helpful in every way. The breakfast every morning was very nice and the front desk was always very helpful and suggestions and also arranging for taxes. The view towards the water and towards the town was also very nice and in the distance you could see the mountain on pico island

The hotel rooms are very basic and decor is dated but the rooms are clean and reasonably comfortable. The private balcony makes up for a lot and the view is spectacular. Off street parking is available. This would not be a good place for anyone who is fragrance sensitive. They spray the decorative cloth over the bottom of the bed with fragrance that is pretty powerful. We put ours outside on the balcony each day and aired out the room. Breakfast is good, staff is helpful. Good value place to stay

Had a wonderful experience at Hotel Horta. My spacious room appeared to be recently renovated with wood like floors, new bedding, marble bath, soaking tub, luscious towels and ample wifi. The view from my 5th floor room was breathtaking, overlooking the city, the breakwater and piers, but most spectacular was the view of Pico mountain. I had a hard time tearing myself away from spending all my time just sitting on the balcony reading and enjoying the view. The hotel is a quick walk to most downtown activities, restaurants and shops. Of note, Horta is a hilly city and the hotel is a walk uphill from downtown. The location is quiet, staff hospitable, and rooms very clean. I would definitely recommend.
