Hotel Horta4.0 out of 5.0

Had a wonderful experience at Hotel Horta. My spacious room appeared to be recently renovated with wood like floors, new bedding, marble bath, soaking tub, luscious towels and ample wifi. The view from my 5th floor room was breathtaking, overlooking the city, the breakwater and piers, but most spectacular was the view of Pico mountain. I had a hard time tearing myself away from spending all my time just sitting on the balcony reading and enjoying the view. The hotel is a quick walk to most downtown activities, restaurants and shops. Of note, Horta is a hilly city and the hotel is a walk uphill from downtown. The location is quiet, staff hospitable, and rooms very clean. I would definitely recommend.
I stayed at hotel Horta for 3 nights. I had an immense room on the top floor with breathtaking views of Pico. Great location, Good breakfast and attentive staff. Particular mention to the lovely Inés from San Jorge. She gave me great restaurant tips. Thank you. Only negative: I booked a taxi in advance but they didn't show up at the airport. But there were plenty of available cabbies. No big deal.
Perfect place to have an excellent view to Pico peak during breakfast. Swimming pool, garden is also nice with lot of palm trees. Staff is helpful, kind. Great selection of food available for breakfast.
We had a very lovely time in this hotel: balcony Pico view, well furnished room, comfortable bed extra large, good cleaning every day, big and soft towels, continental breakfast, few step from the centre, very good price...what else?!we recommend
It is a hotel which needs some improvements quicky. The room smelled weird, the mattresses were bad (my back hurt everytime i woke up in the morning). The room they gave us had twin beds that were side by side but not together (like 1 meter away). Service is average, do not have any complaint. Breakfast had variety and local products and the view for Pico island is an upside and a must. Regarding prices: totally overpriced.
Two friends and I were at this hotel in the Azores, Faial Island, and liked it, but with some complaints. We asked for two rooms in the same floor, one twin and the other single, if possible. It was not. I stayed on the second and my friends on the fourth. In both floors there was no wifi. To have some connection the guests were obliged to be in the relatively small lobby, which was quite crowded almost all the time. The same goes for the restaurant, small for so many guests, speacially at breakfast and dinner, the only meals served at the hotel. Dinner was buffet style and except for the soup, food was always cold. At about € 30,00 pp I think more attention should be given to it. Praise is due to the staff. All the personnel at the hotel did their best to please us and the other guests.
Wifi... which WiFi? Only at the lobby and weak. I never managed to get through in the room. When we complaint, we were told our room was supposed to have a good connection... Staff... Sometimes shows some boredom when we requested something. Cleaning.. good Room... ok Breakfast ... Fair
The title pretty much says it all: This hotel is really in need of a refresh. There's mold in the bathrooms, stains in the carpet (photo), the Wifi is not working, and the furniture is worn. We also didn't get a double bed as reserved. In short, stay away.
Propably the worst ever hotel experience even though we have travelled a lot. Maintenance of this hotel has been badly neglected, cockroaches, overflowing sewage on bathroom floor, hotel room smelled like someone died in there. Torn carpets everywhere. Never never never again.
Very nice hotel with views of the ocean. Rooms are good enough- simple and well appointed. The complimentary breakfast is very good with many options. Walking distance to town. Front desk and hotel staff very friendly and helpful. We would stay there again.
