We stayed here for 2 nights. We paid for a suite, which consisted of 2 basic rooms and a bathroom. The bathroom had a shower over the bath, which was difficult to access as you had to climb into the bath (which had quite tall sides) and the shower flooded the bathroom even though the curtain was positioned inside the bath. Our friends who had a similar suite at same price had provided bathrobes and slippers - we did not! Breakfast was good. Wifi in the room was unreliable.
We stayed in this hotel 1 night. The room was a bit small. The dinner we had which was included in the price was marvelous. Also a very good dry wine. The Poolservice could be better. The pool is surrounded by walls. Nice in spring but very hot in the summer.
It was a unique experience living in a hotel that was a 15 century monastery in the very center of historic Evora 50 feet from the Roman Temple. The place is listed in the guides not as a hotel but as a historical sight. Our “cell” was large. The staff was respectful and helpful. Excellent breakfast
The place is wonderful and well located just next to roman temple. We had the Joao V suite and it was quite a room. The pool is small but relaxing. The service was a bit cold and not really warm. The restaurant was nice.
We spent two nights at this lovely hotel, a former monastery. It is located right next to the Roman temple, a lovely church and palace, the Evora museum and the cathedral - the location could not be more centrally located. Our "cell" was tiny - we did not even have room to open both of our carry on suitcases unless one was on the bed - but immaculate. The common rooms were just lovely. Meals were in the cloisters or outside under a grape arbor. The food was good but not memorable. The pool, although freezing, was much appreciated in the hot weather! We would very much recommend a stay here.
This Pastana Group hotel was a monastery built in the 15th century. The outside isvery plain and unassuming. Once in the entrance, the place has been restored to luxury, and not just for the rich. It was moderately priced, but you feel like you step into a grand palace. I absolutely loved it! This old monastery is beautiful. Guest actually stay in the old cells the monks stayed in. If you are tall, you must bend down to get thru the door of your room. This, for me, just added to the atmosphere. Of course all of the rooms inside are updated and very nice and clean. The continental breakfast was wonderful, with a large selection to choose from. The staff was extremely nice and very helpfull with everything. This was a great experience for me that I would love to have again when I get a chance to get back to Portugal. The Roman temple of Diana is right outside the front door. Right next door is a beautiful historic church and a palace connected to that (worth the visit).
Nice and calm location in the center of Evora. Cars will be parked. The cathedral is around the corner, also all the other sights. The atmosphere, the rooms and the whole Hotel is in a classic way very beautiful. Breakfast is good, but quality of coffee and tea could be much better! Service at breakfast time could be more ambitious.
The hotel is very luxurious and beautiful with great service. The room was not huge but very comfortable. Breakfast was included and eaten by the courtyard and it was a typical american buffet, very good.
Stayed two nights. Our "Cell 3"(Pousada's name not mine) first night Superior Room had a tiny window view of a wall 3 feet away. Second night originally booked as Deluxe Family was asked to pay additional 20 Euros to stay in Cell 3 although identically priced by two separate providers. Gorgeous rooms with balconies overlooking the pool and garden area were quoted by front desk personnel at additional 40 Euros but totally booked out by tour groups. Overall the staff very friendly and facility is lovely. Parking is a huge problem - first driving one lane, narrow, stone streets to arrive at front door is challenging. Parking in front is limited to about 6-8 slots constantly occupied. Very limited, fee based, street parking nearby. Front desk folks will re-park you auto, given key, as best they can when they can. Breakfast included is great. Strong and free WiFi even in "Cells." Huge tour groups book here and often their noise/chatter around the eating areas is a issue
Stayed here for two nights on our motoring tour of spain and portugal. Limited parking but the very helpfull.staff moved cats around so we where able to park (thanks) as other reviews have said, it is a converted 15th century monastery so most of the rooms (cells) are small so we opted for a suite, fantastic sitting room with painted vaulted ceiling and nice furniture overlooking the pool. The bedroom was just a bit bigger than the bed though with a tiny wardrobe and a narrow, but well appointed bathroom. Public rooms are not so large but very comfortable. The resteraunt is around the old cloister (Very nicely done) nice breackfast and we also had one of our evening meals here, not exceptional but very nice. All the staff in the hotel where very friendly and helpful. I have one complaint.. . On arrival there is fresh fruit in the room and a coffee machine - only two portions of coffee however are provided (and only on the first day!) any more have to be purchased at €2.70 each. This gives the impresion that the hotel is mean, (if I had checked out and in again after the first night I would get another bowl of fruit and two more cups of coffee!). Still it was a lovely place and worthy of recommendation.
