Breakfast needs some healthier options. Sugarless cereal. Whole grain bagels. Different fruit than crummy Red Delicious apples. Very nice woman working the desk.
Although the hotel was very clean, there was an odor in the room, no ironing board or iron. The property needs to be remodeled/refurbished. The rates were good.
Carpet and room smelled old and dirty. No air conditioning in the room. No elevator available. Big no no for ADA patrons. Sad to see Wyndham logo here. Appearance not up to Wyndhams standards as I am am owner of their vacation club.
The motel is fairly easy to find - right on one of the (busy) main roads through town. Check-in was reasonably quick and the woman at the desk pleasant. I had booked through Orbitz so everything was prepaid, but she insisted on swiping my credit card anyway, but said that no charges were being made to it. There was a placard by the desk that said, among other things, that a $200 charge would be made to all cards, but when I brought this to the desk woman's attention she waved it off and said no charge would be made. Very mysterious. This policy seems to me a suggestion by the management that I *might* cause damage to the place, not too different (and just as insulting to me) from those hotels/motels that post a price list of many of the items in the rooms should you prefer to buy them from the facility rather than steal them. The motel is older but not particularly beat-up as so many older ones are. It's currently (6/17) undergoing some kind of remodeling and there was a lot of construction activity/noise during the day despite it being a weekend. Walls were thin and I could hear a male voice talking in the next room - pretty loud but muffled. This didn't go on for long so it wasn't an issue, however if you got a particularly raucous neighbor you might be in for some unpleasantness . The street that the motel is on is a busy one and there was a lot of street noise audible from my room. Directly across the street is a large food co-op. I'm a co-op fan and this is a nice one. It's a very convenient place to get something to eat if you don't want to do the restaurant thing. The motel is almost adjacent to the "Old Town" tourist area and only 4-5 blocks from the bay if that's your kind of thing. Upon arrival there were some dicey-looking people loitering on the other side of the street but they did not seem to be causing a problem. From what I could tell and what I've read, Eureka has a bad homeless problem. These people were just hanging out and didn’t seem to be paying any attention to the motel or guests so I don’t think they were a security risk. The motel has a high fence around the parking area which limits the avenues for entry and increases the security of the property. The inside of my room was clean and there was no sign of bugs or anything nasty. Curiously, there was a HUGE closet, big enough that you could sleep a kid in there! It was empty except for a foldable luggage rack. Also curious was the fact that the standard-issue placard informing guests about the state lodging laws, and another telling one the check-out time, were *inside* the closet door and not on the room’s main door where they’re usually found. The bathroom was *very* small and had no bathtub, only a pretty dated-looking shower stall. Everything functioned fine though the shower dripped a bit. The room had a newer fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. There was a heater but no A/C, presumably because it's not needed on the coast and indeed in late June temps were comfortable and I needed neither A/C nor heat. The bathroom had no exhaust fan so opening the bathroom window was the only way to get ventilation. Wifi was OK - good signal, reasonable speeds but I don't think the facility was very full that day so your mileage may vary. I was disappointed to find that the inside of the coffee maker - both the basket and the well that it fit into - was dirty. Yeah I know these things aren't the easiest to clean but you have to make the effort! As a result I didn't use the coffee maker and just microwaved some hot water for the instant coffee I brought with me. Finally, the above mentioned construction got underway at 9AM with the accompanying sawing and banging and hollering. I’ve no idea what people who sleep late were supposed to do. Clearly the management could have had the contractors start after check-out time (11AM) but chose 9AM instead. To sum it up, it was mostly OK by my standards and I'd stay there again. With demerits for the construction noise and the credit-card nonsense on check-in, and bonuses for reasonable cleanliness (apart from the coffee maker) and location across from the co-op, I'd award the motel 2.5 stars out of 5.
Place was very clean and cosy. Stuff was very kind and friendly. Breakfast included bur a breakfast room was missing. So you have to take away and eat in your room. But not really bothering us. Good price for what you ger. Would chose again next time.
We got a just refurbished room, and as the first occupants of such, the only items that weren't new were the dresser, table, and chair. The mattresses, bedding, tub, plumbing fixtures, and the shower curtain were new. Still smelled slightly of fresh paint, and no marks of use anywhere in the place. Towels could have used more fabric softener. Was a perfect room in a budget motel. No microwave or fridge. Continental breakfast is donuts, bagels, cereal, milk, orange juice and coffee, which was taken back to our room, since there's no space in the office. The service was very friendly, but there's something wrong with the check in procedure, which takes quite a while to complete.
My wife and I needed an easy place to stay for a night on our way to a camping trip. We looked to the Travelodge for a good deal on a decent room. The room we got in Eureka had just been remodeled and looked great. It had plenty of space for the two of us, and everything was brand new, clean and tidy. It was a nice stay and the room exceeded my expectations.
This is over all google.com average motel. Good access to everything in the area. Service was good and the room was clean. The motel is old but clean and everything works. Breakfast was a joke, cold day old doughnuts, cold kids ceral, coffee, and served on a side shelf in the office. You were expect to get a tray and take it to your room.
I enjoyed a good rate on this hotel, and the room was clean and "just enough." Unfortunately, the mattresses had recently been changed and were too firm. In my party of four, nobody got over 3-4 hours of sleep. HOWEVER, the staff was absolutely friendly and courteous. I explained the problem and requested a refund for the second night I had booked. They obliged while explaining the situation behind the mattresses. I felt respected and valued as a customer. I was very happy with the no-fuss service I received and will give them another try in the future! =)
