On our annual journey to SW France we always stay at this comfortable hotel with a good restaurant, comfortable beds and rooms, excellent breakfast. Reasonably secure free parking and nearby eateries give some good choices.

We stayed in the Novotel last night. Clean place with a good breakfast in a quiet area. We wanted secure parking and this was difficult to find elsewhere in the town. We were particularly impressed with the woman in reception - told us where to eat and what to see in Chartres especially noting the son et lumiere. She also lent me a charger for my iPhone.

We stayed at Novotel Le Mans on route to our holiday and it was great from the welcome staff to the large and clean family room to the very nice dinner and breakfast. What a contrast staying at the Novotel Chartres on route home. The man in front had a very nice welcome and handed info about where to go and what to do. All I got told was there was a sofa bed in our room for our 4 year old grandson which we had to open ourselves. We got to our room and suffice to say my husband had to go and get a toilet roll as there was hardly any in the room. There were black hairs on the floor in the toilet and bathroom as well as on the sofa bed bedding. Had dinner in the restaurant ordered ham and cheese omelettes but they both arrived without ham. Told the waitress who delivered the order as well as waiter who took the order. The waitress swapped mine with my husband's but neither were correct. The waiter gave us both a slice of ham to put in the omelettes ourselves. Waited a very long time for puddings. Not impressed.

Just returned to the UK from southern France and stayed at the Novotel in Chartres for one night. Very good hotel, which I assume had recently been refurbished as it was certainly of a higher standard than the Novotel in Orleans where we stayed on our way out. Room was excellent and the staff very friendly.

We stay here en route to the Loire. This is a very nice hotel to stay at but it is a little out of town so you need a car if you want to go into town to eat or shop.I am not sure if there is a bus service.

A very comfortable hotel. Ideal for a relaxing stay after a long drive. Have stayed at this hotel a few times en route to other destinations. Very conviently situated for the motorway and a nice restaurant.

I booked a room at Novotel as I knew that I'd need parking and would be arriving late at night. My expectations were met - a friendly gentlemen greeted me after 1 am at the reception. Otherwise the hotel is just ordinary: - not very new - rooms are clean - a bottle of Evian is complimentary - the breakfast is just ok - wifi is free and fast enough - the gym is quite plain - the machines are shabby and there are no weights.

The hotel is located not far away from Chartres cathedral if using the car. The rooms is clean and renovated recently. However compared to other Novotel, its new design in washroom is a little bit too fancy and not very practical. I could hardly put my electrical teeth brusher on the counter and children had difficulties to use the shower. As a loyal member of Novotel, we were always offered the welcome complimentary drinks for the whole family whether in France, Germany, Switzerland or in China. Well this time, we had to pay the drinks ourselves. What made us even more unhappy was the reaction of its management team. It seems that they do not care about their clients. It is the worst Novotel we have visited. I will never come to this hotel in my life.

We will always compare hotels in Chartres with our favourite the Ibis at Luce where we have had many excellent stays. On the surface the Novotel is better in that the reception area is very bright and glossy and to be fair the welcome we got from reception staff was very good .The room was slightly larger than would have been the case at the Ibis and was clean and tidy when we arrived What let the hotel down was the dining area Again on the surface it was bright but the service was not all that one might have expected from a more up market hotel The menu was restricted and it achieved one success and that was to make Mc Donalds seem value for money My burger was tasteless and the chips were overcooked while the Caesar salad my wife had consisted of bacon which tasted of fish, chicken which was so thinly sliced it was tasteless and a bucketful of cabbage like lettuce covered in a weak mayonnaise based sauce This was very pricey for what we got . In brief the accommodation was fine but eat elsewhere !!

We booked this by chance and are absolutely delighted with the location, staff, room and , restaurant. It is fresh, clean and modern, staff very helpful and cheerful and a fantastic buffet breakfast. We ate in the dining room for dinner on our first night and it was great too. We explored the old part of town, the Cathedral, shops and had lunch at la Picoterie Well worth a visit in the beautiful Loire valley
