Great setting, grand old hotel. Staff was very nice. The room was a little dated and not spic and span. The bar was very charming, but for dinner all that was available was the pricy main restaurant menu.

It's really amazing place! I love history and this place has a history to tell. The beautiful lobby with fireplaces, wide stairs, walk out to gorgeous outdoor sitting and grounds, it's all very memorable. thank you

Poor service and unfriendly staff. For the price, very disappointing.

I was excited to book a room in Stanley. I had been there once before and had a pleasant experience overall. This was a special occasion for my family and my mom visiting from out of town. I’m sad to say that our experience this time time was disappointing. The room I booked was in the Lodge. Upon entering, it smelled of heavy mildew odor and chemicals. It was humid inside. You could not breath inside and with having little children, I felt it was unsafe to stay there and breath toxic fumes or be exposed to mold. Also, the room key did not work to open the door and fortunately there was a kind maintenance man down the hallway to let us in with instructions to get replacement. They were eventually able to change my room upon my request but we had to move to Aspire location which was a walking distance away. They could not provide a sufficient answer as to why they would allow that particular room to be booked and told me that I should expect unusual odor since the building was old. I found this particularly distressing and also felt a bit like I was brushed aside. We stayed in the Lodge before and felt the room was clean. The Aspire was not too far of a walk but with no help offered to relocate with all our luggages and small children it was more than a bit of added inconvenience. Aspire is new but I didn’t realized it wasn’t done being built. We ended being upgraded to a 2 king size bed room which was appreciated. Overall it was a memorable stay but not in a good way.

Concert held at property - music until well after midnight. The floor in our room literally vibrated.

Lots of charm and character. Lovely lobby and outdoor areas. However, this was the noisiest and hottest hotel I have ever stayed in. I travel approximately 80 to 90 days per year and this is the worst experience I’ve had in several years. The lowest room temperature I could achieve was 77°. If I opened both windows it would cool down a few degrees but there was no way to adjust the temperature in the room as the wall thermostat would not lower the heat. Every word spoken and every step taken in the hallway and in the stairway sounded like it was in the room. The music from the lounge or some sort of party that was going on might as well have been in my room it was so noisy it was around 1 AM before I could finally go to sleep. For nearly $300 per night I expected much, much better. When I complained to the front desk attendant he did not even acknowledge my complaint. Literally did not even reply. Kept his eyes on the computer screen. While it is a charming location with interesting history, it is incredibly noisy and difficult to sleep for many reasons. Visit the lobby and look around the grounds but save your money and stay somewhere else.

What you need to know about the Stanley Hotel is that it is old. Now, if low water pressure, cracked sinks, doors that rattle, thermostats that don't control anything, hard beds, and an unresponsive staff are what you are looking for then the Stanley is for you. I spent 20 years in the Hotel industry and have never stayed in a place that charged so much and offered so little. Never again.

The staff are wonderful at this hotel. They allowed us to do early check-in. We just happened to get a room on the top floor (4th floor) during a few days when the weather was cold at night and warmer in the day. This cause all the heater heat to rise to the top level (our floor), making the room hot. It was very difficult to cool down our room since the rooms were not scheduled to get ac units for a few weeks. They provided an extra fan, but it was 79 degrees throughout the night even with a window open. The next day they were very accommodating and helped us move to a room one floor below. This helped the temperature situation and allowed us to have a good night’s sleep. I would recommend that the 4th floor is not assigned to guests until all the acts have been installed. Otherwise, charming hotel with wonderful staff.

This site retains the turn of the century feel with loosing modern-day needs.

We came out here to see property for my daughters wedding. It is a beautiful drive up from Denver and the buildings are spectacular. It is February so technically off season!. They do renovating in the off season , which makes sense, but we couldn’t find the front desk to check in. Went to 3 places in 2 buildings before finding the proper place. Apparently in season there is an outdoor bellman. Check- in itself went well. Got a tour of the property and one of the patios had trash and broken glass scattered around. Dinner was delicious and the bar is really nice . It is a classic old hotel. Didn’t experience any spirit activity!

Historic property in a beautiful setting... plus a concert venue!

My wife and I stayed in Room 400 for two nights. It was an excellent experience. Know what you are getting into when you book. This hotel delivers in spades on chills character and chills atmosphere. The restaurant is very good and convenient. Take the ghost tour even if you don't get the opportunity to stay. Staff very helpful and kind.

Great hotel and the experience was exceptional with the welcoming staff!

Beautiful place with lots of character! Our room was huge and “spirited” although we didn’t see any ghosts. The bed was not very comfortable in part by how creaky it was when you moved even the tinest bit. Overall though we were happy with the experience.
