Ramada London Stansted Airport

Cheap is probably the only plus side to staying at this hotel. The mattress was shockingly bad. Worst one I have ever stayed at. You could hear your fellow neighbours throughout the night which probably reflected the wafer thin walls. The hotel recommend an airport taxi service which costs £15 to to the airport which is a really short distance away. Best to check Uber before booking the taxi.

We stayed here for a night before a 6am flight the next morning and it was awful. The 2 girls at check in (Patricia and Annie I think) were super friendly and helpful and looked to have their hands full with other guests. These two ladies are a credit to the hotel and are the only reason we didn't demand our money back there and then. I understand now why you must pay upfront as paying the next morning would mean they would probably rarely get paid. The bed was comfortable and the room was tidy. The downside was the loud buzzing noises throughout the night. Regardless of whether the aircon was on or off, every 5 minutes there was a loud crackling, buzzing noise, loud enough to wake you from a sleep if you were actually lucky enough to get some. During the night the aircon shut off and stopped working so I had to get up and go to reception about it at around 2am as the windows do not open and the rooms becomes extremely stuffy. When I got there, there were 2 other guests complaining about their room and when I was leaving another guest was just beginning to complain. The woman working during the night (didn't catch a name) was zero help, did not apologise for the issues, didn't attempt to explain them or resolve them. Nor were we asked how our stay was when we checked out, I suspect feedback is rarely positive. If you are looking somewhere cheap to stay, this place is fine as long as you don't expect to get any sleep whatsoever. We headed to the airport miserable and exhausted and spent the first day of our holiday in bed.

Myself, wife and 14 year old son stayed here on the 23/7. we had booked and HAD confirmed a NON SMOKING room. We arrived fairly late and were given our room key (217). Immediately noted that the sign on the room door said "Smoking Room".. We gave it a go but on walking in the room stank of stale smoke, the bed lined smelt as did the carpet and the towels.. I went back to reception to ask for as different room AS WE HAD CLEARLY BOOKED A NON SMOKING ROOM but was told that the room had become a non smoking room 2 days earlier and had been thoroughly cleaned (really??). I was told there were no other rooms available and given (wait for it) a can of Glade air freshener! On top of that the double bed bowed so much in the middle it was like sleeping on a hillside and the air conditioning unit was so noisy it was beyond a joke.. I complained to Ramada saying I shouldn't have to pay for the room but got the usual "we'll be in touch in 7 days".. Got nothing, emailed back reminding them of the 7 days and got an email telling me to ring a number which clearly wasn't in the UK, again I asked which country this number related to so I could add the right code/prefix but not surprisingly have heard diddly squat! My tip for those thinking about using this hotel would be to pay the £15 parking charge and sleep in your car.. You'll get a better nights sleep! (Or try the Days Inn next door)

I could almost re-publish my last review of this place. Good value, comfortable hotel in a good location with friendly staff ( but having read some earlier reviews please note this hotel is not that close to the airport, you will need a car to get there) But the big problem is that throughout the night there are sudden loud buzzings from the roof which last three or four minutes- certainly long enough to properly wake you up. Last time I stayed I was told it was the air conditioning system and it was going to be fixed. Two years on I was told the same thing. I was also told that "everyone complains about this" . Also, while I'm at it, the walls are rather thin so if the people next door come in and start chatting at 1 in the morning you will be woken up, and the so called family rooms are so small that when the sofa is turned into a sofa bed there is no room to move in the room. None of this shows Ramada in a good light

We had an afternoon flight into Stansted. Rather than going straight to London, I thought we would relax for an evening before getting to my brother's house the next day. Getting to the "Airport hotel" was inconvenient. They did not offer a shuttle, but did not respond to my emails. Getting there by Uber was very expensive despite the shot route as birds would fly. When we arrived and I expressed my frustration, they offered us free breakfast for the next morning, which was nice, but they did not document it anywhere. The room had a sour smell and the mattress was very uncomfortable. It was loud and we could hear every noise in the hallway. The food choices within walking distance were limited. In the morning, I felt like I was starting over with the front desk, who knew nothing about the breakfast we had been offered. I am not used to being a complainer, and I felt embarrassed by the experience. I love our local Ramada, but would not go to the Stansted one ever again.

Booked a night at this hotel alongside long stay parking at Stansted airport thinking it would give us a good rest for the evening before our early flight. The only benefit of staying here was that an hours drive at 2am was instead an 8 min drive to the carpark. Hotel corridors smelt of cigarettes and room was noisy with a humming noise every 5 mins... not ideal when trying to get as much sleep as possible before the early alarm! Thought that this hotel choice would be good value for money but will definitely pay the extra for a better hotel next time!

If I could give no stars I would! We arrived the night before taking an early flight from stanstead and we live about 4 hours away so thought it would be easier and less tiring than getting up early to drive. When we arrived the woman on reception asked us what floor we would like to go on so I said ground, she then said this wasn't available and only the top floor was ready. Not sure what the point of her asking us was! When we got to the room at the other end of the hotel it was tiny, shabby and dirty. There was dirty water marks down the walls and crumbs on the floor. They need to invest in a hoover. I went down to reception and politely asked if we could move rooms as ours was dirty. The receptionist said they were fully booked but what she failed to do was hide her clipboard which had down all the people staying in the hotel and which rooms were allocated, There were about 20 if not more unoccupied. She did move Us to the room next door in the end which was just as tiny, shabby and dirty but no dirty water marks on the wall. Rather than make more fuss I left it as that. Oh and the air con makes the rooms smell damp and musty. We attempted dinner in the restaurant, we were told to take a seat and the waitress would be with us to take our drinks order. It was the receptionist who checked us in and apparently didn't have a clue about waitressing either. We sat down and ignored for 15 minutes, no drinks! To then overhear her telling a couple at the next table that they would not be taking any more orders for at least half an hour as the 4 other tables eating in there was too much for them to cope with. ( I come from a hospitality background) we left and got dinner in the services. Onto the worst part of the stay.....the bed.....the worst bed we have ever slept on. My husband will sleep anywhere at the drop of a hat and even he struggled to sleep on this piece of cardboard. I think a park bench would have been more comfortable. I managed about 2 hours sleep and honestly think it would have been better to drive from home than pay £92 to stay in this hole! The only good thing is the fact the parking is only 8 minutes away but not worth paying this money for. Stay at another hotel it's not worth the terrible service or sleep. When we checked out in the morning every hotel I have been to asks you how your stay was....the 2 on reception did not. They are obviously so used to bad feedback they don't even bother asking anymore. I didn't waste my breath giving my feedback as I didn't think it would be constructive to them at all. Avoid this hotel and stay in another.

Spent half the night before an early flight, food was decent. Room 116 we were unfortunately in, any idea what the constant vibration was above the vents? Thought it would stop but it became quite therapeutic while we got zero sleep before our 1am alarm, we left early because we got more sleep on the floor on Stansted airport. Didn't start the holiday week off great, but didn't ruin it either. Hotel reply would be great. 16th July was the WONDERFUL EVENING, NEVER AGAIN.

We booked into a family room in this hotel prior to an early flight from Stanstead airport. We arrived to find a very small supposedly 'family room' with a double bed for us and a sofa bed for our 17 year old and 10 year old. The sofa bed was tiny and old with springs that were too noisy to sleep on and so worn out the mattress formed a 'w' shape on its frame. Knowing that we would not sleep due to the noise made when any movement was made, we moved the mattress onto the floor so that the older lad could sleep on it whilst the younger child slept on the sofa cushions. . We complained to the staff and asked for an extra sheet and duvet to be used on the sofa, the receptionist said of course to which the manager stated that there was not one spare duvet in the entire hotel. My son also noticed one of his pillows had brown stains on it and so couldn't be used. We were told we could have the spare sheet and it would be put in our room but it never was. The room was very warm but when the air conditioning was turned on it was rediculously noisy. Not only that but it blew out wam air and when we tried to turn the temperature down a torrent of water began to pour out of the unit. We turned it off but it became so warm we had to put it back on and put towels underneath it to catch the water and stop the noise of it streaming onto the floor. We complained but to no avail. None of us got any sleep and so started a long day of travel very tired and grumpy. Not the relaxing start we had planned for our holiday. Do not stay in this hotel.

Booked this hotel as part of a 'hotel and parking' package. When I arrived I learnt that the parking as long stay at Stansted so you have to leave the hotel before your flight to park there and then take the shuttle bus. For this reason alone I wouldn't use this hotel again. Also, the restaurant closed at 9.30pm, not 10pm as stated on the room literature. Fortunately it's located on an M11 Services so there are options, albeit at inflated prices. Room did have air-con but this was so squeaky I had to wear ear plugs. I mentioned this on check-out but got the impression nothing would be done. In summary, avoid.
