Mercure Hotel Frankfurt Eschborn Ost4.0 out of 5.0

There are two mercure hotels in the same street, ost seems the lesser one as there is no nice bar, at least I did not see it. During the night other guests arrived, they made a lot of noise. The walls are so thin it was as if they were standing next to my bed. Breakfast was nice with lots of choice. However, the waitresses do not pay attention and if you are getting something to eat the table is cleaned and you have to start asking for a new cup etc...rather funny though. Staff is overall friendly and helpful.
Good quality hotel with very nice and competent service personnel. Clean rooms, parking, restaurant, bar, gym, with good link to public transportation. Nice place to accommodate when coming to Frankfurt area.
Walking distance, 10 minutes walk, from S-Bahn with just 3 stops to reach the fair. There is also a suttle bus from and to hotel and Eschborn Sudbahnhof. Hotel rooms are in good condition and breakfast buffet with a lot of choices. I had dinner a couple of times at a nicely prepared buffet.
Eschborn ost, three stops on the train from the main station, feels very distant from Frankfurt. There are a few large companies and buildings, presumably the driver for anyone wishing to stay in this area, but much is segregated by the autobahn / main roads, so walking anyway is difficult. On the eastern edge of this industrial area, some 12 minutes walk from Eschborn train station, is the Mercure Eschborn Ost (careful when booking...there is a Mercure close by, Eschborn Sued). Welcoming, multi-lingual, efficient staff, comfortable room on the 6th floor complete with free minibar, coffee, tea and good wifi. Very comfortable bed. Dined in the restaurant - simple but excellent food. Chicken and chorizo, with wilted rocket, on a bed of polenta. A small but good selections of wines by the glass, and with a coffee less than Euro 30 for dinner. In spite of the fact that the hotel was fully booked - it didn't feel busy or noisy. There is a bus stop a few minutes walk from the front door (for as previously mentioned you cannot walk anywhere...), with buses running every 20 minutes or so and a timetable at the front desk. Or there are usually one or two taxis waiting outside...and if not it takes ten minutes to order one. As some have said - not a five star hotel. But then it doesn't aim to be. As a business hotel in a business district it is very good...I will return.
The Hotel is in the middle of nowhere, walk 10 minutes to the next metro station. In the morning, wait a minimum of 20 minutes for a taxi....The rooms are okay, the breakfast is of great variety but the cheese is cheap and it is heavily overpriced at Euro 17,- If you are unlucky one of the two elevators is not working, then you might be asked to carry your luggage to the fifth or sixth floor. You are lucky, if you have only small luggage
The hotel has good functional rooms, its not meant to be a five star but it is good for what it is. The facilities are really good especially for kids. Outside they have a pool and a sand area where kids can play. The hotel breakfast is varied with a big selection of european items. There is some paid parking at the hotel but also outside of working hours just ourside the hotel there is some free parking (check the signs!) Regards Omar
Room on 6th floor was nice, complete with coffee machine, but WiFi was terrible. Two other colleagues were staying in hotel in different rooms, and we all had to use mobile tethering to work. Now about the ironing board ... When I asked if I could have an iron, I was told it was not allowed for guests to have the iron in their room, but I could use the iron in one of the rooms downstairs. The room changed every day, apparently, so I got to carry a week's shirts down from the 6th floor and iron them in a conference room that was set up for the next day. My colleague asked to borrow the iron later in the week, and he was told he could do his ironing next to the reception desk. He decided to go to work in a creased shirt. So, bring your own iron :)
This hotel has everything you would expect at this price - and nothing more. It is in every sense of the word non spectacular. Check in was a bit slow. There is no iron in the room. The room was comparatively large. The yellowed plastic bath tub and shower is kind of a downer. In order to get to the hotel by public transport, you need to walk about 900m through a field - which in th evening is kind of scary. The shuttle service to the train station does only run Mon - Fri.
The hotel staff were friendly and nice, also the food was good. I had a short and enjoyable stay there.
Stuff from reception is very helpful. The most I liked was the door between room entrance - toilet and sleeping room. Like this it is really phonic isolated. It was a little bit cold in the room and you can heat just by common air conditioning. Breakfast costs 17 EUR. I had the same breakfast conditions in Regensburg with 7 EUR. Water trickling was also not working in a proper way. Located from 10 min walk to the S Bahn.
