The only partial negative to this hotel/apartment is its location among the adult clubs. Besides this, The Knight Residence was more than we could have hoped for and expected. The amenities are excellent. The staff is welcoming and helpful. They stocked the full size refrigerator with milk and juices, left a welcome basket with breakfast foods, coffees/teas, a loaf of bread. There is even a washer/dryer in the apartment with complementary detergent! They have really thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I suspect reflecting the scottish people in general. A small problem with the room (which was really MY fault) was handled almost immediately. Security was excellent with electronic and keyed entry into the complex and apartment. An extra benefit was the selection of free DVD movies for borrowing, to allow some relaxation time in the comfort of the apartment after a long day of touring. The hotel is within walking distance of everything in Edinburgh, especially the Grassmarket area and Edinburgh Castle. Overall, I could not have been happier with our experience at the Knight Residence. I would not hesitate to stay here again, should I be fortunate enough to visit Scotland again.

Four adults traveled to Edinburgh to visit family and to vacation. The Knight Residence was an excellent place to stay. Having a living room to relax and visit with friends and family was wonderful. Kitchen facilities were very nice. Everything was very , very clean. Beds were comfortable. The only thing that I would recommend would be a fan for each bedroom as we were there during the heat wave. I understand that air conditioning is fairly non-existent in Scotland as it is not needed but we happened to be there during high temps. Overall, an excellent experience for us!

Overall, a fine hotel but not worth the price! Please keep in mind that I am comparing this place with the hotels in the US. The location was fine... Bad: Right next to 3 strip clubs (not a huge deal but it was a bit odd). Good: Not close but not too far away from the main action. The unit was nice + spacious (by European standards) but definitely not 5-star material. Probably 3 star. The rooms were too small. The carpets were not very clean. Housekeeping: Worst of all. They did not clean properly. Put back the dirty towels from the floor on the towel rack. Did not change the sheets. Basically, did a very careless/sloppy job. Not impressed at all. Front desk: Really nice and friendly guys. No problem at all. We would not return to this place... just an average place! Not bad, but nothing special about it!!

The room is really a suite with a kitchen, living area, bathroom, and bedroom. The location is great - you can walk to almost everything - sights, shopping, and restaurants.

We rented a one-bedroom apartment which was small but well laid-out. It had all the amenities that we needed- well equipped kitchen, a washer dryer, televisions in the master bedroom and the living room, nice bathroom with robes provided., dining table and chairs, good location to tourists sites and wonderful concierge staff.

We were greeted by the friendly staff and given a tour of our apartment. Their was nothing they had not thought of. The apartment was comfortable and inviting. The staff had even gone grocery shopping and had stocked our refrigerator with milk, juice, butter. And provided a basket filled with cereals and a loaf of bread as well as coffee, tea and sugar. Kevin and Christopher are fabulous, they are their to help in any way they can. Whether you need a cab or advice on what to see or do during your stay in Edinburgh they are their to help. The Apartment is immaculent and modern. The beds comfy. Our stay here was perfect!

Walked to the Castle and to the fun Grassmarket area. My sister and I loved having tea and breakfast in our own comfy apartment. Off street parking and helpful staff were great amenities, too.

It's not your run of the mill hotel atmosphere (no pool) but we had 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. There was a washer/dryer and a full kitchen in the unit along with a living room. It was clean and convenient with a helpful staff. I would certainly stay there again in the future.

We were greeted by a friendly staff, [...] the duty manager walked us up to our room and pointed out the features. We arrived in Edinburgh after traveling around Europe for eight days and believe me it was great having a washer and dryer the the apartment. Our apartment was spacious and well appointed. On the kitchen counter we found a welcome gift of milk, bread, cereal, coffee and tea etc. [...] also supplied us with travel books and great advise on pubs and food near the hotel.

It was like staying at home with someone wonderful to take care of everything for you. A completely furnished, beautiful and very comfortable apartment with every amenity and an unbelievable helpful staff. Central location, walking distance from The Grass Market, which has at least 8 recommended restaurants. They also have a high commitment to green policies. I loved this place. I didnt want to leave

The Knight Residence was fantastic! the apartment was very comfortable with everything your may need and much more--it was really like being in our own home. The duty managers, [...], were excellent in giving us good advice and recommendations and their overall customer service was outstanding! My husband and I recommend this apart hotel to everyone. It was like being in our own home, but with the service of a 5-star hotel.

Nice big apartment with a kitchen, very easy walk to Old Town and the train station. Extremely friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay.

Even before we had completed our booking [...] The Knight Residence had contacted me to verify some info and to answer some questions. The suite was perfect. We had two bedrooms AND TWO BATHROOMS. The kitchen was nicely furnished. The physical aspect of the entire property is excellent. Our trip, which was basically snowed-out (the big snow of 2010 in the UK), was made fun and very pleasant by the staff. The staff is 1st CLASS in everyway. Oh, I guess I should mention that the location was very good. Edinburgh can easily be gotten around, under normal circumstances. With all the snow we had to rely on taxis. Because the property is very close to The Royal Mile taxis were inexpensive and the staff we very helpful in procurring the taxis.

We arrived early before noon to our hotel, and although check-in was at 3PM, they had our room ready for us, walked us and our bags up to it and walked us through all the features of the apartment so we knew how to use everything, which I thought was a very personal touch. They also asked us about our plans on our trip and gave suggestions of local events that were going on. From the airport we took the city centre bus and walked from their to the hotel. it is by edinburgh castle close to the grassmarket. The walk from city centre is probably 10-15 mins, but it is pretty uphill. Its not impossible to do by any means, but with all the hotel luggage its not the most fun. We didn't have a map on us at that point, but were able to find our way to the hotel using the bus map and the castle as guidance. Although the hotel is in a convenient location (2 mins to grassmarket, 5 mins to the castle) it is off on its own side street not in the middle of all the city action. So if you are looking for something in the center of all the attractions I don't recommend staying here. With that being said, the walk into the center is not difficult and with the city being so small, I never felt like i was walking a long distance to get back home at night. All in all, staying at the Knights Residence was a very different feel for us because we are used to staying in large hotels, but I enjoyed it. It felt as though we had our own flat in Edinburgh and definitely gave the trip a personal touch.

Travelling with a family of 5 for a week, we wanted sufficient space & room. Our room included a kitchen with washer & dryer. Convenient location. Staff is 5 Star!

Great location near Grass Market and the Royal mile. I think we should gotten the superior room instead of standard as the apartment was a little dated. Many restaurants close by but it was nice to eat breakfast in the apartment as it is always hard to get started on vacation.

Once you figure out driving in Edinburgh and how to get to the secured parking, the Knight Residence is very convenient to most of the inner city. Apartments are clean and spacious. Excellent connections via wireless and staff is very friendly and helpful. If you like golf, within short walking distance to Bruntsfield pitch and putt course. Libation after at the Golf Tavern is a must.

This was an excellent selection for our family! We traveled with two kids (ages 9 & 3) and needed the extra space to spread out. The kitchen provided all necessary amenities to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Washer/Dryer were crucial. Free parking was a nice bonus. The location was great because the castle and Princes Street are a short walk away, as are supermarkets and other stores and restaurants. The only negative thing (and it is minor) I can think of is that it is close to some bars and clubs, but we only had late-night noise on Saturday night and it really didn't bother us. The staff was extremely helpful with directions to find our way around the city and they loaned us a converter when the one we brought didn't work. When we return to Edinbrough this is definitely the place we will stay!

We liked this hotel so much, we stayed an extra night! Very convenient location, walkable to all of Edinburgh's major tourist sites. Very spacious room with full kitchen and living room. Excellent value for the money. Staff were incredibly helpful. Highly recommend this property.

The Knight Residence was absolutely superb in every respect. I was so worried about finding an affordable (but comfortable) hotel in Edinburgh. My parents were over from America, so they have a somewhat higher standard of comfort. Instead of booking two separate double rooms, we had one flat to share as a family at a very reasonable price (no need to collect a key across town from an office they have staff on-site). First, the staff is unbelievably nice. The concierge was friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff was obliging (still cleaning our flat daily even though we are very late risers!). Second, the flat itself is brand new and equipped with washer/dryer, DVD, WiFi, high standard bathrooms, full kitchen. They also give you a little stash of tea/coffee/cereal/milk to start you out on when you arrive. The beds were comfortable, and all of the linen (even plush bathrobes) was replaced daily if requested. Lastly, the location was closer than ever to the touristy bits without being in the thick of it (my older non-walking parents were impressed). In the past, I have stayed in another hotel in Edinburgh that was just as nice, but not as relaxing and twice the price. Keep in mind, there is construction on the street so try to reserve a room that will not be affected by the noise. One complaint: the room was advertised as two queen rooms, which technically was correct, but the beds were actually arranged as 1 queen and 2 twin beds.
