Booked for 4 nights but checked out after the first night. Great location, large 1 bedroom apartment. Clean. Kitchen table a bit wobbly and it was a challenge getting hot water in the shower. But the underlying factor was the 98 steps up a stone spiral staircase to our apartment which was on the top floor. We knew there were stairs but not quite that many. We are now in a hotel that has a lift.
Fantastic location, but sadly sub-standard low budget accommodation at a price! Due to the location, The Royal Mile, the street is very busy throughout the night & as the apartment has no secondary glazing the noise is relentless. So much so that my partner and I endured a night of sleep deprivation (and not in a good way). To make matters worse the apartment is in need of modernisation & the decoration is poor ; a few examples; the fridge freezer compartment door was missing, the plug sockets in the skirting boards were so low that you couldn't actually plug anything in. Couldn't wait to leave and on reflection should've booked a nearby 4 star hotel at the same nightly rate. Deeply depressing apartment...Won't be back!
Worked great for our family of four. You could of added a couple more and we still would of had plenty of room. Excellent area. Close to restaurants and shops❤️❤️❤️❤️Only downfall didn't have much of a view, we were looking into a courtyard but really that didn't matter to us. Just so happy with how large it was!!!!
Massively overpriced flat. Location is great but this is used to screw the customer. Unattractive interior design, kitchen appliances that dont work, not so comfortable beds. 2 star quality for a 5 star price. The apologetic tone of the staff doesnt help, even though they try to be as helpful as possible.
The apartment was great in the right location in the middle of the Royal Mile was very well equiped and lovely furniture it was very clean with plenty of room My only complaint was we were on the top floor which ment we had to carry our large suit cases up 96 steps around a winding staircase We were lucky on the way down the lovely staff helped us but overall a really great place to stay
What a dream to have such a central luxury apartment for my hen do. Beds sooooo comfy and right in the heart of the royal mile! Wonderful staff, plenty space. I'd say a home away from home but it's much better than my home!!! Couple of tiny things, defo need a bigger kettle and a plug that fits for the bath and kitchen sink but it was wonderful and luxury!!!! THANKYOU!!!!
The apartment was in a great location, right on the Royal Mile across from the Writers Museum. The one bedroom apartment was high enough that the noise from the street wasn't a problem. The bed was very comfortable. We stayed 5 nights and the towels were changed half way through the week. The only negative was the apartment was 4 flights up a stone spiral staircase.
The apartments were well equipped, spacious and clean. It's located very near High Street which is the major downtown street that leads to the Castle. The problems we had were these: No one was on the property to meet us for check-in, the first number they listed didn't work, then we were told that because it was on Sunday they didn't accept credit/debit cards so we had to pay cash, but the man who did meet us there did not want to give a receipt--said the main office would have to issue a receipt the next day. None of this was in the booking description. Parking was free in an underground lot and the wifi was excellent. A quiet place.
Lots of space...great location. Well equipped flat. Friendly and happy check in staff. Now as for the negatives, the place would have looked rundown in the 90's, imagine what it looks like now. It's just dated and sad looking. In 2017, the general appearance is just not good enough. The fact that reception is in a different building to flats is annoying especially considering the wet climate. I was fine for a night. But i wouldn't be for any longer. Pricing of edinburgh hotels in general i find are too steep, this was the best value for money based on what i saw online.
Lovely apartment on the Royal Mile. We were a group of friends that included a child. We booked easily on line and had excellent communication from the proprietors. Easy walk from Waverley station (although uphill!). Beautifully furnished and very clean. Easy going proprietors ..we had an early departure and were told to just leave the keys in the apartment..no fuss! Would most definitely stay there again and would recommend it most highly! Access is by ancient circular stairway, which could prove tricky for anyone with mobility issues.
