I used to stay in this hotel on business regularly 6-7 years ago. It always offered very good service, easy parking and a comfortable (not over the top) room. Nothing has changed and this is still a good hotel choice just a couple of miles from the city centre. If you get the right side of the hotel you get an amazing view of the city and the castle. The bathroom was a bit tired but no disaster. Breakfast was on a deal with 2 for £15 which seemed like great value for a tasty and fresh buffet. The restaurant is nice and relaxed and a very relaxing. Not the most up to date in terms of decor, bathroom etc but otherwise very comfortable and the service is very good indeed. I will stay again!
Last night service excelled due to Iulia we decided to stay an extra night her service was so superb! She was just so warm welcoming to me and my family but also she is a credit to the hotel. We would gladly stay here again.
Great staff, lovely dining area with relaxing bar area, if you get a high room its great views too. Less than 10mins to edinburgh centre by bus right outside hotel so no need to take car looking for parking spaces. Will always use this hotel each time we visit Edinburgh.
Stayed for two days on a brief visit to Edinburgh. The hotel is well situated away from the the city, yet just a bus ride from the centre. A modern hotel with plenty of onsite parking. Staff were very helpful and attentive at all times. We are IHG Gold members so had a room with a city view away from the lifts on a top floor. The rooms were large and spotlessly clean. We ate in the restaurant and found the menu choice to be good. The food was good and well presented. Breakfast was served in the restaurant and was buffet style, again of a good standard. All in all an excellent stay.
I have stayed at this hotel twice now on my business trips to Edinburgh courtesy of my company's hotel booking service. The welcome you receive is always very friendly and helpful. It is a bit out of the way from the city centre but taxis and buses are nearby as is a large supermarket if you have forgotten anything. Though the rooms are very clean and well provided they are a bit dated. Breakfast is very good and a large selection is on offer. I will stay again.
Yet again I find that my room is fine and as expected for the price but the restaurant is made to look good but disappoints . Check in I wasn’t offered my points or drink which is part of IHG membership . Dinner £29, £3 service charge when dining solo is ridiculous . The man at the next table asked for draught guiness but was told they didn’t sell it by a waitress with poor English . He then walked to the bar and fetched himself a pint of said guiness. Rib eye steak was tough and ten frozen chips and one tiny mushroom was insulting. . Will stay again but will eat elsewhere .
Had a great stay here with my family, situated in a great location as it was just a 10 minute drive from where my daughter dance compitition was. The view from the room was amazing, we had a lovely view of the castle lit up aswell as the big wheel at the xmas market.
What’s not to like. Easy check in, free parking, free WiFi, the rooms are a good size with comfortable beds and overall very clean. Breakfast was good with an ok choice. One of our party was a little late and they kept food aside for him which was very helpful. Would go back in the future.
This is a perfect hotel if you are travelling by car as parking is free and hotel is easely accessible. Going down town is easy and takes 10 minutes by bus. Walking is a long journey and there is nothing interesting on the way. My room and bathroom were perfectly cleaned but as others mentionned， the bathroom is really so tiny. I was not expecting that for a Holiday inn. The staff is really professional and as a loyal member I was upgraded to fifth floor facing the city and the sea. I thank them for that. The staff at the restaurant and breakfirst are really professional too. Now I reckon that the hotel rooms need some renovation as it is not up to the standard of HI. I travelled on week days as I found rate insane over the week end. The breakfirst was ok but again I had better in other Holiday inn. If you come from the airport you will need to catch two bus. If you ask for a room with the city view please be aware that the windows are not sound proof and the road has heavy traffic and you can hear the noise. If you prefer a quite bedroom， ask for a room facing the back ( south).
We stayed for the last night of our Scotland tour and even though we only spent a total of 5 hours here (due to an early flight) we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is on the outskirts of the city so we had to spend a few bob on taxis to get to and fro. The staff were helpful and friendly and happily booked us cabs to the city centre and airport. Our room was compact but clean and the bed was comfortable. Good value for money if you don’t mind staying further out from the centre!
