Grand Hotel Savoia

This is our second visit to the Grand Hotel Savoia. We stayed for a week long ski trip with a group of 30 individuals. I opted for a suite, this stay to give us some extra room during our visit. There have been some improvements from our prior stay, most notably is the quality of the mattresses. Our prior stay had sleepless nights due to the hardness of the mattresses. The Savoia must have upgraded the mattresses because our sleep quality was much better. A second noticeable improvement is the quality of the coffee. The Americano coffee is very enjoyable now. The breakfast buffet has lots of choices and is very good quality. We also enjoyed two dinners at the hotel and they were very enjoyable as well. My only critic is that the ski room is rather small. Only a few people at a time can put there boots on at a time. The location is very convenient to town and all of the shops. Would stay there on a future visit.

Some crazy Russians come to this hotel with children. Remember, it isn't children friendly. Nothing for them. A bubble bath by the swimming pool is off-limits for pre-16s. A biosauna (60 deg) or an aromatic sauna (40 deg), too. There is a joke of a gym in an L-shaped narrow hallway. Double rooms are small, but people seasoned with common Paris or British hotels would be comfortable. Breakfast is ok, but fresh juices are by order, not in free reach. And what is absolutely unacceptable, after telling you 3 (three) times that "parking in the garage is free, it is included in your booking", they would still charge you extra for that on checkout. 5 stars? Erm... hardly. Open a window to get a good sleep, otherwise small rooms and bad ventilation would quickly exhaust the air. Some pro's. A nice ski rental is inside the hotel, close to garage (take your skis and throw them right into the car), with good choice of brands and widths. Saunas are Ok, open 9am to 9pm. Would look for another hotel next time, unless coming strictly for business matters for a night.

Modern updated hotel with top facilities and friendly staff. It's located at one end of the main shopping street. Some people in our group mentioned it is too hot and noisy during the night to sleep. Breakfast is wonderful and they do charge extra if you want something such as omelette or poached eggs that need to be freshly cooked by the chef. I wished there were ice machines in the hotel and a kettle in the room.

This is our family's third time at the hotel, but first time in four years. The facility and general service remain very good, in particular the staff are very friendly and helpful. The guests are mainly Italian families and Russians. The breakfast is very good and comfortable. The only complaints are 1. the staff and rules in the health spa are a little off putting at times, 2. the ski storage room is a bit small and 3. and the quality of wifi is very spotty to poor. In our room, internet connectivity was weak. I had to answer my work emails either in the bar in the lobby or outside my room in the hallway. On this account, should do better.

We stayed here for four nights in late February for some Spring skiing. The concierge team helped us a lot: arranged pick up from the train station in Dobbiaco, advised on a good program of ski days, reserved mountain restaurant lunch bookings, and found us a great spot for dinner on Friday at short notice. Thank you for helping us have such a great stay. The room was marvelous, very comfortable with a nice balcony. The dining room team was terrific, very attentive, and a great menu. The bar team was also a lot of fun, thank you Daniele and team for being so welcoming, even if I could not turn them into Paola e Chiara fans.

We went there on a business retreat with some business partners. The hotel is very typical of the region that surrounds it. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Staff is very courteous and helpful, the lobby is spacious and welcoming. Try to get rooms facing the mountains (i did not have such luck !). Expect some noise in the morning from other guests preparing for skiing. Also the Gym does not open until 9 am which is a shame for early active guests who would like to start there day with some early sport. Hotel Location is just perfect, it is a 2mn walk from the shopping area where all the luxury shops are located. The nearest ski slopes are 10 to 15 mn by car. .

The staff in the restaurant are first class. There were too many of them to name but I would like to thank them all for their attention to detail and looking after us so well. Dinner and breakfast were great every single day. The spa is great too. I would thoroughly recommend the Indian massage. The bedroom was perfect and had everything you would expect in a five star hotel. The hotel is well situated for the rest of town and getting to the slopes. We stayed in the summer at another great hotel but this one has the edge on location. Finally, the hotel manager noticed it was my birthday and left a surprise bottle of fizz in the room; a very nice touch and thank you. Hope to be back soon.

I just spent two nights there.. it has a wow effect from the outside so you think "good start", isn't it? But then you go to the concierge and witness the following: it s 11.30 pm, a guest is leaving to get to the airport for a long haul flight.. he asks for a doorman to get his luggage, the answer he got was: "nobody is on service tonight" ..say whaaaat? Nobody is on service tonight?? It is Friday night in a five-stars hotel!! Are you joking?? Moving on.. I got in to the room and well, I was expecting it to be a little bit luxurious than it was. As I tested it both nights, soundproof here is an optional. You can here guests from next door and people talking and walking along the hallway! On the other side, waiters were amazing and willing to make you feel at home! Spa was a little bit crowded but still good!

Perfectly located in Cortina. You can walk to both gondolas. The food in the hotel is fantastic. We had breakfast, snacks, room service and dinner there. The pool is clean and you can actually swim laps in it. The rooms are a good size for a European hotel.

This is only about the food service, as we went to a standing dinner for a birthday party. It was not my first experience, but the first one for a full course meal. Absolutely first class, or 5 star! Everything we tasted, and we tasted a lot, was exquisite and beyond. The service was attentive to the point of manic, and the staff was friendly but still with a very professional approach. I will consider going again and experience a selection from everyday's menu. Congratulations to the management.
