Stayed at The Mansion Lions hotel last week (with Mystic Isle coach group) for 7 nights. Some areas of the hotel could do with a make over and I expect some rooms are nicer quality than others, like many seaside hotels. However what made this hotel extra nice for me was the staff and the food. The staff (I am referring to dining room staff, chef and kitchen assistants, cleaners) work very hard and were very helpful and pleasant. No one is perfect but any issues they put right as quickly as possible. Food was excellent and freshly prepared. In the dining room there was a good choice of food at breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was buffet style but the hot food was served by a member of staff from the hot containers and the cooked breakfast was hot and fresh and food replenished quickly. Dinner was waiter/waitress service and we had a choice from 3 starter options and 3 main course options (meat, vegetarian, fish / other). Pudding was a buffet cake dessert or ice cream or a hot pudding. I was pleased there was plenty of jugs of water on the tables. The staff at the hotel cope very well with coach parties. The hotel has lounge seating area and a front conservatory area. Guests are able to sit downstairs and read, talk etc if they don't want to go out for the whole day. My room was on the third floor with front side view - it was clean, comfortable and fine for the week. It was very hot and not easy to open the window however there was a fan in the room which worked well and was most welcome. In the bathroom I was pleased to see handle on the wall for support when getting in and out of the bath for a shower (shower over bath). Room was in a very quiet location - could only hear very minimal noise from other rooms - certainly not an issue. There is a lift but it stuck on the second floor one day when I was in it going down from 3rd floor to ground floor. I personally had no major issue with the hotel. However I was surprised to notice there appears to be no ramp / step free access to the hotel from the outside pavement. The steps (6 or 7) going up to the main entrance are quite steep, yes there are handrails but still quite awkward for people with reduced mobility. Not sure how people with walking wheels or wheechairs enter the hotel. As this hotel is popular with coach parties and the hotel have some step free access inside the hotel (e.g. to dining room) it is my opinion that they need to invest in step free access on one of the main front outside entrances.

It is without a doubt, in my opinion, the staff that make this hotel. We were greeted and made to feel so very welcome throughout our stay by everyone who works there. Our room was a little shabby and I was disappointed and I asked to be moved which was done promptly. I am aware that the hotel is being refurbished. There are rooms that have been finished and those are comfortable. Food is plentiful and varied and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Eastbourne itself is a lovely town and easily accessible on foot. The hotel is in a very good position for the pier, prom and town.

Great welcome, very friendly, nice lay-out. Easily located room, large room, well positioned, comfy bed, everything you need for an over night stay, extremely quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Amazing breakfast and staff - staff attentive, helpful, quick service and overall a lovely experience, better than most hotels we have stayed in in Eastbourne. Certainly return and it was good value for money.

The location of the hotel can't be better! We were so pleased with the customer service. The staff at breakfast and at the bar were very helpful. Thanks team, you made my stay so much better! The decor has its traditional lions theme.

Visited here with my partner, when we were first greeted at the deck the member of staff was extremely miserable and until check out we didn't even get a hello from any staff over our weekend stay. Furthermore the rooms were very dated and we had multiple problems with our room e.g blocked drains and broken lights. Overall I would give this place a miss in future.

had such an amazing time and was given a free weekend return to use extremely happy....just hope they contct me when i can stay has this wasnt mentioned. food was great slept perfect soo highly reccommended

I hire this hotel for a linedance weekend. I couldn't ask for a more helpful team of staff. They go above and beyond to make our weekend a success. The hotel is being refurbished, and is looking great. The food is great and not small portions either. It is clean and very accommodating. Conveniently placed for access to the Town Centre, the pier, and directly opposite the beach. I have booked the hotel to use for next year and am looking forward to returning.

I have just returned from Mansion hotel in Eastbourne. My room was very clean and comfortable housekeepers did a good job although there were a few bits there and in the hotel as a whole that could have done with a lick of paint. The food in the hotel was particularly good. Best of all, the staff were excellent - friendly, efficient...

exceptional staff, bar, waiters, waitresses, nothing too much hassle. assam? great asset in the bar. Food all good and hot, breakfast alot of choice, plenty of tea coffee. Bedroom we had spacious clean and warm.

The Hotel is in a great location, in beautiful Eastbourne. The staff were some of the best Ive come across, helpful, polite and hard working, we had 10 on our table and our food arrived together. The food choices were good enough, and it tasted great. My room was awful. The cleaners need congratulating for making such a tired worn out room look clean, which it was, despite the marks on the walls, the cracked plaster and the chipped and damaged furniture. The room was so bad I would have complained if it wasn't for the fact that a friend had booked it. One of the other people I travelled with had a lovely room, so perhaps I was just unlucky!
