Nice rooms , real good restaurant , fun little bar and great location ! The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable ! Easy free parking ! Great town & very friendly people ! I would defiantly stay their again , maybe stay longer .
The hotel had comfortable rooms and provided our first experience of lamb for dinner -- it was delicious. The hotel is near a petrol station, and just beyond that is a mini-supermarket where we bought snacks.
A rather ugly exterior but clean and comfortable inside. The bar was fun and happy hour was a friendly, multi-national affair. This was a good stopping off point on the journey from East Iceland down to the south. There wasn't much open in the town on a Sunday but a nearby cafe, while over-run, was not too pricey and pleasant. This is reindeer territory, but we only saw them on the menu, not in the wild. The restaurant catered for all tastes and the international staff were friendly, even offering us pronunciation help for Russian words (for an upcoming trip).
We had a heck of a drive from Hofn today (do not attempt in the snow). Checked in late - friendly enough staff, less than impressed with the "oh you booked a double room? Just push the beds together" it seems just plain lazy and annoyed me. The room itself is clean but very basic. I would stay here again if I had to but it's nothing special.
This hotel is clean and well maintained, as is to be expected with Icelandair hotels. The room was small, but was quiet and had good lighting. The window opens. Bathroom was attractive with a walk-in shower. Room had radiator heat and no thermostat, so setting the room temperature was difficult. There is no air circulation in the room. For those traveling with many electrical devices, be warned that there was only 1 electrical outlet in the room.
The Herad offers an appealing combination of friendly and helpful staff and upmarket design. After several days of more modest accommodation in Iceland, it was good to feel a little pampered. The restaurant is expensive but the food was outstanding when I dined there. My room was comfy but small; however, the spacious lounge and bar area was fine for sitting and relaxing with a glass of the excellent local Slöttur bitter. Recommended.
Very basic hotel/motel. This is a two star maximum Premier Inn / travel lodge style motel. The wifi was slow, time-limited and unstable requiring multiple logins. In 2017 decent free wifi should be as standard. The resturant was expensive even by Iceland standards and completely empty. The slightly cheaper bistro across the road was packed! Breakfast was an optional £25 per person per day so £200 for our family of 4. We were offered a 20% reductions but declined as there is a good garage with Cafe opposite. Guest pc but printer wouldn't work for boarding passes. On a positive note, ample parking opposite & happy hour at the bar!
Nice modern hotel with very friendly staff. I booked this hotel on hotels.com and breakfast was not included but the receptionist gave me a 20% discount on the breakfast buffet at check in. Quite room for a good nights sleep and comfortable bed.
Our room in this hotel was clean and fresh with plenty of light but it was extremely small. There was a large desk which was usable space but the room was so small there was barely enough room to move around. Fortunately the bed was comfortable and the shower was good. The breakfast was adequate but the hotel wasn't very busy so perhaps there is a better spread during busy times. There was a nice bistro a few minutes walk away where we ate dinner, so I can't comment on the hotel's restaurant.
We tried to keep our trip as budget as possible, so this modern hotel felt like a real luxury. Very nice lobby with fireplace and lounge areas, with an adjacent restaurant and bar. The room was very spacious, clean, and modern, and the bathroom felt like the kind you'd find at a high-end hotel (with L'Occitane bath products!). We had a bit of a suitcase accident, and the hotel staff went way above and beyond to help us out. We'll be singing this hotel's praises for ages. The buffet breakfast in the morning also had a high-end feel with every breakfast option you could imagine—from smoked salmon to oatmeal to eggs to yogurt to waffles. We had a wonderful stay.
