The hotel is very well located, right in the city center. You can access restaurants, stores, attractions and others just walking. The staff is great and the breakfast was very good. There's a working in progress on the street that access the hotel parking lot, what makes it difficult to arrive, but they sent an e-mail explaining a new way to enter the parking lot.
We chose this hotel as we have stayed in a Novotel before, and always found them very acceptable. The location of this hotel is very good, close to the town centre, but far enough away to be quiet at night. The reception staff were brilliant, and always helpful, and the rooms were nice, plus everything worked. There were some drawbacks, mostly minor such as paper cups for the tea & coffee, plus wooden stirring sticks - no spoons. Breakfast was superb, with a massive choice of options. However 'The Gourmet Bar' is a bit of a misnomer. They seemed to serve burgers & pizza's with a few other options. Hardly gourmet dining, but with gourmet prices as a burger was 13 Euro's. We didn't eat or drink here as Ghent has numerous bars/restaurants. Our only real complaint was that even though the rooms were en suite, the loo was separate with no hand basin - a bit archaic these days, especially for a hotel. Also they had a fire drill at 11.00am ( a bad time), the day we needed to pack & check out by 12.00. All in all we enjoyed our stay, and would book here again.
It's not the newest hotel, but located in the center of Ghent, walking distance of all that the city has to offer it's very convenient. Staff is extremely service minded, polite and thought full. There's a bar, nice terrace.
Attended conference in Gent. The room was very spacious, with big bed and very clean. The staff was very helpful and the food very delicious. The rooms provided for the conference were comfortable and with good lighting.
Since we had never visited Ghent before, my wife and I wanted to stay in the center of the city. A quick trolley ride got us from the train station to the hotel. We were very happy with this choice. The hotel was clean and the room was nice. The hotel appear to span several building, so the walk from the reception area to our room was somewhat long. We slept well and the price was reasonable. The hotel satisfied our needs.
This is our second visit to the Novotel in Ghent centre. Excellent customer service, great location, very child friendly but the place needs a refurb/modernization. The sauna is tiny but the arrangement is great - you book the sauna and have it all to yourself for an hour. The kids enjoyed the pool even though it was a bit chilly! Do recommend and will visit again and hopefully it would have been refurbished.
Stayed overnight on our way to Germany. We arrived by car and hotel staff were very helpful organising parking. Comfortable room and bed, friendly staff and good breakfast. Lovely city to visit with good bars and restaurants.
The location certainly could not be better. Right in the heart of historic Ghent (Gent to the locals), and the commercial shopping centre. Definately a good base to discover the city from. The Novotel in Belgium and France seem o like having the toilet seperate from the bathroom which is actually unhygenic as you have to handle two doors after going to the toilet before you can wash your hands. Not what I would expect of a Mid range brand and a bit of a letdown. This is why the lower than excellent mark as the breakfast was the best we have had on our 4 hotel trip accross Belgium and France so far with a very good selection of pastries. The Amadeus 2 rib restuarant is right next door and definately worth a journey for an evening meal. The food in the hotel is overpriced and limited.
Location is indeed perfect close to restaurants et shopping area. Also reasonably close to Ghent University. Outside of that the price is pretty high and expect the lobby which nicely designed the corridors and rooms are pretty average ... :-( It also lacks a good bar where you can meet colleagues at night, although the bars around are pretty good. Rating would be higher if the price wasn't so high. Also be very careful if you need to drive as it is in the middle of the pedestrian area.
Nice hotel in the center of town. Own parking. Bit expensive though. Rooms are good but a bit dated. clean and good beds. Friendly staff. Small pool outside. Breakfast was good. 3 star hotel with lots of amenities.
