I stayed in this hotel for a conference in the university, and I was very pleased with every aspect. The location is great for conferences, one of few hotels in Düsseldorf in walking distance to university and hospital (but also easy to reach from the railway station and town centre). Staff were always friendly with me, rooms clean, quiet and of good size, breakfast in a pleasant room with a generous selection of good and fresh food. And even the room prices are modest, I would certainly stay there again.
The Reception staff is very unfriendly and rude. We have this feeling that we dont even want to ask something cause maybe we just get an angry face. He should get another job i would recommend if he's not happy to serve people... but for sure not in the hotels.
Although this hotel is not in the center of Dusseldorf, it is not so far away. By tram it is 15 minutes away. Rooms are simple but enough comfortable. By my opinion hotel needs refurbishment. Breakfast is standard for three stars business hotel.
After reading what other guests had written about the hotel I was apprehensive to stay here. However, after spending 2 nights here for a conference I feel that the reviews of other guests are harsh. Checking in was good and they had received parcels for me which they kindly gave me and the room, whilst a little dated, was clean with a very comfortable bed (could do with more comfortable pillows) but on the whole a good room. Wifi in the hotel is very good and was able to stream a number of films to watch one of the nights. Breakfast was nice with a mix of continental and cooked foods and something for everyone. Held luggage after checking out and going my conference but the receptionist was very polite and helpful. If i was back in Dusseldorf and working around the south of the city i would have no reservations about staying here in the future/.
Booked this hotel as visiting relations nearby. A great location on a quiet residential street, near to a tram stop into the city centre (directions provided in the room). Our room was clean & had everything we needed. Slept extremely well. Breakfast was excellent with a wide choice from the buffet & cheerful service. Small outside area looked nice for good weather. Just one small comment - could do with a ramp at the hotel entrance as other guests were finding it difficult to lug cases up the steps. Would recommend if looking for a hotel n this area. Thank You!
If your looking for a hotel to sleep in without any service standard then this is the place to stay. Both receptionist were everything but friendly. Cold and reserved would be the right term. As the rooms had been paid for by the company we did not have to pay anything. The receptionist did not bother asking if we had a good stay with them as it seemed to be under her to communicate in any way or form with us. The rooms were okay apart from the bathroom, when the room next door used the sink it started to bubble in my rooms sink. As mentioned in your looking for a one night stay and are not week in for any service standard and want to be greeted with a patronizing look then this is the place to stay.
Location: The hotel is located in a extremely calm place. It is almost far from the down town and very far from the airport. There are some train stations near the hotel. Building: Very old. All decorations are old-fashioned as well. They will give you a big key instead of an access card! Room and services: Rooms are clean. Daily make up is done. Nothing is available more than a bed. No tea pot, no safe box, .... If you need a cup of tea, you should go to the reception and order it, not for free. Meal: Only breakfast, average. Cost: Expensive. More than 300 Euro for some nights!
This review covers a few days at HK-Hotel Dusseldorf City (henceforth referred to simply as HK) before the big EuroShop show that brought me to Dusseldorf, a city I visit often. I generally break my reviews into the GREAT, GOOD, BAD, and UGLY but since there was nothing at either extreme, I'll just leave it at good and bad. I will also offer some bottom-line type comments and recommendations. Ready? Here goes . . . GOOD * Fruhstuck: The breakfast is a pay-to-play, so be ready for that but . . . I thought it was an okay buy. It had hot items and went a little beyond some of the breakfasts I've had that were included with the room in other hotels. And, there are not many options in the immediate area so I decided to buy the breakfast and was pleased with it. * Location / Convenience: the HK is well-located in Dusseldorf for either a business or tourist stay. It is minutes from the #701 street tram which provides easy access to the city's most visited sites (and even some of the less visited that I prefer). You must see my caution about the #701 tram below though to avoid confusion. * Staff / Service: In limited interactions, I found the staff here to be pleasant. The person at the desk allowed me to check-in a little early and the breakfast servers were very pleasant and always on standby to offer more coffee, etc. * Quiet: The HK is located in a quiet area (neighborhood, really) that is conducive to sleep. * WIFI: the in-house wifi is free and excellent. I left this hotel for another with a weak signal and really appreciated it even more. BAD * Location: while this location is convenient, be ready to have to have your fun and do your entertaining elsewhere because there are not many dining, drinking, etc. options nearby. Most of the visitors here seem to come for the university or hospital more so than for vacation or the fairgrounds. * Slipping / Fall Hazard: The bathroom, while nice, features a strange set-up when it comes to the shower / tub. First, the only divider between the shower and rest of the room is a partial glass divider, so A LOT of shower water will pool on the marble tiled floor regardless of how careful you are. Then, get ready for the highest tub ever. When standing in the shower, the TOP of the sink was about level with my KNEES. You really have to step up into and then down out of the tub to shower. And, you'll do so on the wet slick floor below. I am a spry, competitive athlete and even I kind of slipped and conked the inside of a knee when stepping from the tub to grab something on the sink while showering. I could only imagine an extremely overweight, and / or perhaps much older person trying to navigate this. They have probably had many wet, naked spills in these bathrooms! (which paints quite a mental image!). Anyway, be careful here. BOTTOM LINE / RECOMMENDATIONS * I have zero regrets about staying at the HK. But, while most of my trips to Dusseldorf are memorable, this hotel will not be part of the lasting memory. It is as convenient and efficient as it is ' vanilla'. It got the job done without being memorable. * The #701 Tram: it will serve you well but you have to know that you will have to use separate stops when coming and going. You exit the #701 at Am Steinberg BUT catch it from this hotel at Moorenstrasse. The line ends at Am Steinberg and begins at Moorenstasse. Both are close and convenient but you must use these different stops. Feel free to let me know if you have Q's.
We booked at short notice and delighted we did, underground parking , decent rooms , helpful and friendly staff, nice breakfast .A no brainer for the price . The location is fine as a quick taxi ride had us in the heart of the city.
~ A REAL GOOD PLACE TO STAY. Quiet, tidy, and only 10min by metro to the schadowstrasse. (The shopping area) ~SUPER FRIENDLY staff! 😁👏🏼 You can ask them anything! Actually, my wife forgot her badge from work. We emailed them if there's a possibility to send the badge back to us and they directly sent it after receiving our info. What a service! Hotel is highly recommended! Thank you very much Hk hotel Düsseldorf City! We had such a pleasant stay! If we are ever going back, we would definitely choose your hotel again. Justin D, Belgium
