This hotel is lovely, BUT... at the moment there is a lot of work going. On what was the beach. The picture your showing on Trip advisor Well it does-ent look like that anymore!!!. It is a building site a lot of work going on noise is terrible from 7:00am till late in the evening. They are building a area with shops swimming pool restaurants etc. The locals are not to pleased, a lot of trees were cut down to build this. I think it might look nice when it's done but it will be a very busy area.
First of all the smell in the hotel is fantastic, I really wanted to steal difusors from the sockets :) Food is really good, staff, especially Milenko from Hercegovina was cool! Room was spotless and clean! Prices in mini bar were a joke, dirty cheap! Spa was clean too!
A lovely modern hotel in a beautiful location. We were on the sixth floor overlooking the pool and the bay. The work being done on the beach was not a problem as we were out of our room most of the day. Close to the bus stops to go to the old town. We found the no 4 was less crowded than the no 6 and just as frequent. Breakfast was plentiful with cereals, eggs bacon sausages, bread, fruits and pastries. My husband did find the beans were cold. We went half board and were disappointed with the quality and variety of the dinner buffet would not rate it as 4*. We were offered al la carte menu for one day in the week and found the food and service far superior to the normal dinner. The staff were all friendly and helpful and overall had a lovely stay.
Beautiful hotel in a great location. Everything was perfect. The bedrooms were comfortable and with ample space with luxury bathroom. The staff were very helpful and kind. The views from the reception and bar are amazing. The restaurant is by the sea and the breakfast is excellent. The only slight problem was some building work on the beach.
Recently, my wife and I stayed at the Hotel Kompas after the completion of a guided tour in Dubrovnik. The hotel and our room (706) were excellent. Our room and adjacent rooms as well as the rooms on the floor above us have the water view reduced somewhat by decking level with our patio. It is interesting in that you enter the hotel reception area on the 10th floor of the hotel. The views off of the lobby and attached bar/lounge area are outstanding. Floors with rooms, pool, and exercise are all on lower floors with the restaurant on the lowest. You can exit the hotel from the restaurant floor to a lounge/entertainment area and additional seating for the restaurant. A female singer from Bosnia Herzegovina performed our first night and was a real pleasure to listen to. The exit by the restaurant will also take you to a long community walkway along the water with additional restaurants and shops. Unfortunately construction was being performed on the water front a short distance from the hotel which was a minor distraction. But the hotel sent a complementary bottle of a nice wine to our room just after check-in to compensate us for the distraction which I thought was very nice of them. Breakfast in the hotel was buffet style with eggs to order and a very nice selection of other foods. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient, always keeping our coffee cups filled. The evening prior to check-out, I asked about a taxi to the airport (30-60 minute drive depending on time of day and traffic). Reception advised me that the hotel could provide a driver at a cost just slightly higher than a taxi off of the street and they would bill it to my room. As we were leaving at 4:00am we opted for their driver. He was as friendly and efficient as the hotel staff and the additional cost was minimal. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Kompas should we return to this area again.

I stayed in this hotel with my husband from 4th-11th June. We were slightly apprehensive as we knew there was ongoing building work but this did not cause us an issue at all. In fact the work seemed to get quieter as the week went on and it was interesting to see how much work progressed during the week. They were planting trees by the time we left. The hotel was modern, clean and staff were excellent. The hotel is in a great location. One side of the hotel is a strip of bars and eating places (not rowdy) and the other way is a coastal walk with rocky coves where there are steps down to swim in the sea. The bus is offering a shuttle service to Hotel Dubrovnik Palace (approx 5-10 mins) whilst the beach area is being modernised. We walked back from the Palace to Kompass which was approx 30 mins and and a very enjoyable walk. There was another beach on the way back (all the beaches are shale). We stayed B&B and you can choose to sit in or outside. Good choice of breakfast and I regularly had an omelette made to order. And despite a previous review, we had no issues ordering breakfast tea and mint tea each day. We also chose to eat in the hotel twice overlooking the bay and watching the sunset go down. The seafood and wine was delicious and a fantastic service by Mario. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. There was tea/coffee making facilities and a hairdryer. We had a walk in shower which was perfect. Check in was quick and easy. Reception staff were friendly and informative and our room was ready early. We overlooked the pool and bay. Dubrovnik Old Town is a ten minute bus ride away which is cheap and regular, although quite busy. I would recommend this hotel and we will return in the near future.
Sleek, modern hotel with excellent views. Shame about the building site on the beach next door (it's quiet enough that the noise didn't bother us too much during the day, but it spoils the beautiful setting and makes it less convenient to go to the beach). Close to a nice promenade with restaurants and bars, gentle and pretty walking route along the coast on the other side. 5 minutes walk from the cave bar at Hotel More and about half an hour's walk (all pedestrianised) from some beautiful beaches in the next bay. Chocolates left by the bed every night and free bottle of red wine to make up for the disturbance from the building work. Good range of excursions but worth shopping around for a better price elsewhere. Service was occasionally a bit rude and standoffish, both at the lobby desk and in the restaurant, and information at check-in was rushed and missed some important things out (like how to access wifi, breakfast arrangements, etc) - when I then had to go back to ask about those things, a staff member all but rolled his eyes as though the answers were obvious and seemed annoyed that I'd disturbed him by asking such silly questions. We also had a waiter tell us he thought our choice of dessert wasn't a good one! At breakfast, the hot options are quite often cold and overseasoned, but there's a huge buffet of cold food so that was fine. Hard to get hold of tea - though they had plenty of staff refilling coffees, none of them seemed to know who was responsible for tea and didn't seem keen to fetch it themselves. The service really let it down but otherwise the hotel is beautiful, quiet and comfortable.
Very beautiful and comfortable stay. Great views over the bay. Fantastic selection of food and drinks. Staff very friendly. Construction on a site not far away was happening at the time of our stay so was a little noisy but didn't really bother us. Nice pool, nice cocktails. very relaxing
I'm here with my parents aged 85 and husband. I chose this hotel specifically for its location, which allows my Dad to have a short walk in the evening to restaurants. The hotel is in a superb location with bars, restaurants and a few shops on the promenade at the front of the hotel. We are B and B and breakfast has plenty of choice. I like sitting outside in the morning taking in the views. We've been upgraded to deluxe sea view rooms due to the construction site opposite. I booked with Jet2 and received a phone call 11 days before we were travelling to advise of the construction. We were offered a move to the Sheraton at Srebeno but it was unsuitable for my Dad. I contacted the hotel directly to enquire where our rooms were located and asked if they could locate us well away from the noise from the construction, which they obliged. NB this work is delayed and I doubt it will not be completed until August / September. There is a lot to do as it looks like new accommodation / commercial centre is being built. I'm pleased that we stuck with this hotel as it's touching on five star. I've travelled all over the world and the Kompas is excellent for cleanliness, service, location, spacious room / bathroom, views and proximity to Dubrovnik. My parents love it as do I.
