Hotel Dubrovnik3.0 out of 5.0

If you're looking for a bargain while in Dubrovnik, this is a great place. Just don't compare it to an American "three-star". We stayed here for one night while we took a side trip from Split, so the price was the most important to us. We are also used to staying in a variety of accommodations in Europe. This hotel really was very nice by European standards. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was on a cute promenade and close to a bus stop that dropped you off at the old town in about 10 minutes (and the bus ran every ten minutes.) The room was well-air conditioned, and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was varied and good. For Americans, the room may feel small. The soap for the sink and shower was in a wall-mounted soap dispenser. The shower could have used a little updating and leaked a little. This is all typical for this type of hotel in Europe and did not diminish our stay at all. The only downside is our room was directly above the restaurant/bar and was a little loud. This could be remedied by asking for a quiet room.
The room was average, nothing too good or bad to speak of; but the location was disappointing. It was on a tourist trap strip of hotels, each with its own extremely overpriced restaurant with tables in the front. It was a 10 minute (12 kune one-way) bus ride away from Old Town where reasonably priced apartments could be rented. The charming Old Town fortress had better and more reasonably priced restaurants and night life within steps.
