This was our second time at this great hotel,we booked a seaview superior room which was lovely with plenty of room and great views of gruz harbour. The staff in all areas of the hotel are very good and friendly and very helpful. Lovely pool area with some sunbeds and small seating area with some shade and a drinks and snacks area with honesty bar. Breakfast was always very good with fresh cooked hot food to order and a nice choice of fruits meats and cereals ans breads. Special thank you to Marieanna and Anna for their friendly service and a;ways being quick to look after us.The hotel is in an ideal area for local transport and the bus station and ferries to the islands ,There plenty of eating places near by and supermarkets also a daily fresh market near the harbour. The Old Town is a 40mins walk or a short bus ride away. We were very glad we came again to this hotel and will hopefully be back in the next couple of years.
We have just finished a Two week tour and the very last hotel we stayed in was the Berkeley Hotel and spa in the Dubrovnik. It gets rave reviews in a number of areas. First, the staff at the desk were far and away the nicest we encountered in our entire trip. Second the location is perfect if you want to access the bus or the ferry. It is a quick 10 minute ride to the All-City and they drop you right at the main gate. Just watch closely for your stop when you return as the next stop is a long way away. We made that mistake and turned a 10 minute ride into a 45 minute ride. They have a lovely pool (but the wall around it prevents you enjoying the beautiful view). Our room had a balcony and a wonderful view out through the channel to the distant islands. Ask for a room on the second floor or higher to get the view. It was only one of two hotels in two weeks that had a plug in the bathroom and only one of two that offered in room coffee service. In the lobby they have a live view camera showing scenes into the Dubrovnik old city which was fun to watch when we had a few minutes. Breakfast was made to order and the cappuccino was excellent. The staff person came over and chatted with us after we finished breakfast about Dubrovnik and her life here which is great because we so enjoy connecting with locals to really understand how they live. Altogether a great experience and probably our best hotel in a month-long trip.
The Berkeley Hotel is in a good location within easy walking distance of the main bus station or ferry, as well as an easy bus ride into the old town, which is about a 40-minute walk. We stayed for four nights and had a spacious clean room with a small balcony. There was an outdoor pool, but we didn't use it. Breakfast was a small buffet with table service for ordering eggs and coffee. The only problem we had was inconsistent Wifi - we couldn't always access it from our room though we could always get it in the lobby. Overall, we found the hotel to be a very convenient, pleasant place to stay.
I cannot criticise this hotel in any way. We stayed for seven nights, booking as part of an EasyJet Holiday Package and we had a great stay. First, the only possible negative, there is a walk with a gradient and a few steps to and from the bus stops and bars/restaurants, but not too bad, but if you have any serious walking difficulties, this may be a problem. Room - was a good size, exceptionally clean, comfortable, serviced daily in an excellent fashion and had a fridge. The bathroom was immaculately clean. Reception - manned by efficient friendly staff who were extremely helpful at all times. Dining Room - served an excellent breakfast, with good variety. The lady that served our breakfast to us on a daily basis was excellent, she greeted us each day in a friendly manner and nothing was too much trouble, it set us off each morning in excellent spirits. Surrounding area - a ten minute walk downhill brings you to several bar/restaurants, we ate in four different ones and they were all excellent. There is a small shopping centre (including supermarket and pharmacy in the same area. It is a nice walk along the waterside and if you walk to the other side, you find another half a dozen excellent bar restaurants. If you like a walk and enjoy a glass of wine, walk to the other side and find the Skar Winery, where you can enjoy their excellent wine (made on the premises) or can enjoy the wine tasting package (including food), we spent the evening on a wine/food tasting package (25 Euro per head), what excellent value, a great experience (includes a short tour of winery and talk - very interesting). We didn't use the pool and only used the pool patio once, but although quite small, the pool looked excellent and was thoroughly cleaned at the end of each day (we sat on our balcony and watched the guy carry out his work in a most workman like manner). The pool patio has tables and chairs, is clean and tidy and there is a small honesty bar for use. It is only a ten minute walk to the bus stop, where buses run into the Old Town every ten minutes (15 Kuna per head one way - cheaper to buy a day ticket if you are going to be travelling a bit more). The buses are always on time and are excellent, but you may have to stand as they get very busy. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the Old Town. As I said in my title "what is there not to like", this is an excellent hotel and I have no hesitation recommending it to anyone.
Reception: Anela, at reception, is exceptionally friendly and welcoming, she made us feel very welcome from the minute we stepped into the Berkeley hotel. Hotel and City information, maps and more was provided. Its a pleasure to walk into a hotel and be greeted with a genuine smile and hello. Room / facilities: Our room, 23, has a king bed with 2 large european and 2 smaller pillows for each person. Flat screen TV, water boiler (kettle) tea and coffee facilities, fridge, in room safe, desk and chairs also a large sunny balcony overlooking the harbor. Large modern bathroom with hair dryer and heated towel rail and liquid soaps. When heading out for the day, as the room key is a actual key ring and tag, the keys need to be given to reception. The hotel has a pool, spa and parking (upon request). Tours are able to be booked via reception. Downfalls: A very very minor downfall for us was the distance from old city. It is a 10 min by bus ride or 30-40 minute walk. Wifi: Fast, easy access, no password needed. Breakfast: Continental style buffet, fruits, yoghurt, bread, jams, cereals, juices with tea and expresso coffee. A variety of cooked eggs with add ons are made to order and prepared fresh for you. Mia, (the waitress) in the breakfast restaurant is lovely, chatting to us during our stay, about her time in Australia and recommending things to do whilst in and around Dubrovnik. We attended an early tour and had to depart before breakfast commenced. Anela, at reception, arranged for an early breakfast for us before we departed on our tour. Conclusion: Very clean room, good facilities, very, very lovely attentive staff and comfortable stay. Compliments to management for having a great team. Location / Nearby: Bobis Bakeries, restaurants, main bus terminal and ship port, Kozum or Tommy supermarket, local bus stops. Getting to / from hotel: If arriving by bus in to the central bus station, exit the station and walk in the same direction of travel, with the bus station behind you. At the first roundabout, turn left and travel up the gentle hill. The hotel will be on your left after about a 5 minute walk. If arriving into Dubrovnik airport, bus schedules match aircraft arrival time, so a bus to the city will always be available. Cost is 45 Kuna, including luggage. Euro currency is not accepted. Distance is approx 35km, along a small road. Travel time is approx 40 mins to the central bus station in Dubrovnik. Atlas bus can also take you express to the airport, which leaves from the central bus station. Cost is 45 Kuna, including luggage, Euro currency is not accepted. Check schedule times at the hotel reception a day prior to your flight.
We have just returned from a week's holiday, based in the Berkeley Hotel, Gruz Harbour, Dubrovnik. To anyone considering visiting the area, this comes very recommended. The staff, mostly family, are considerate, helpful and friendly. The accommodation is first class with brilliant views from the balcony. Breakfast is to order and very enjoyable. Situated a couple of miles from the old town of Dubrovnik, easily accessible by regular buses, with boat trips to the islands on hand, in Gruz harbour, it is ideal. Alan and Barbara Gates
Hotel is located near the port. The room was comfortable and spacious. Hotel staff was helpful. I enjoyed the personalized service that I received. Public transit is easy and I recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay.
Four of us booked for 5 nights bed and breakfast. Hotel is about 10 minute from the main Dubrovnik bus station. Had a 2nd floor room with balcony and sea view although the sea could only be seen from the edge of the balcony. Large room with TV, huge bed and good bathroom with shower. Balcony could easily accommodate 4 - 6 people and great for sitting out drinking coffee or beer. Breakfast was excellent with cooked breakfast of omelette or scrambled or fried egg along with choice of bacon, tomato and mushroom. Cerial, fruit, toast, yoghurt etc along with tea or coffee. We didn't bother with lunch most days as breakfast was sufficient. All staff extremely helpful and friendly which made the stay very enjoyable. There is a small outdoor pool on first floor along with a spa. The bus into Dubrovnik old town is across the road although we tended to walk in which takes 45 minutes. Would definately recommend the Berkeley Hotel if you are staying in Dubrovnik.
This is a small hotel near the new harbor in a quiet neighborhood. It is family run and owned and we even met the owner and one of her daughters. The staff is fantastic--very friendly, offering help when needed and remembering who you are--nice to be greeted that way. Christina was wonderful and a great help. The rooms are modern and large and have a nice baloney. Do not miss the hot stone massage at the spa! It was 75 minutes of pure bliss. Word to the wise--book the spa early even before you arrive as it books up fast and I can see why. The breakfast included is great. There is a buffet but also made to order eggs! Nice touch. There is a nice pool with an honor bar. Another nice feature is that it is near the bus stop so trips into the old harbor are easy to do. Also all of the trips we booked in the area picked us up at the hotel which is not true of all hotels. Lastly, they offer pick up and drop off service to the airport for a fee that was well worth it. We will definitely stay here again.
We stayed for a week at this hotel and really enjoyed our clean room, comfortable bed and balcony. Breakfast was good with a cooked option every morning and lovely coffee. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The pool was a bit cold but very welcoming after a day of sight seeing. The hotel is around 20 mins walk away from the Old Town but near bus stops and restaurants. We liked watching the comings and goings of the cruise ships in the Port and appreciated being able to hire a towel when we went out for the day on a cruise. We were also very pleased that we could use the hotel's facilities, even after we checked out, as our flight departed at 22.30!
