Very quirky hotel with lovely staff and a great vibe. Rooms were lovely and unusual. Everyone wanted to help. Had dinner in the hotel with breakfast and lunch the following day. All food was quick and of good quality. Plates for food were hot which I love and the Sommelier was excellent. Loved our stay.
Stayed here for 2 nights on business. The one thing that stood out was the cleanliness of the room and the hotel in general. It was excellent. The room was well appointed with a very comfortable bed, good large widescreen TV with a good selection of channels. The bathroom had both a full size bath with an over-the-bath shower with a large rainfall type shower head. The evening meals on offer at the bar were very good and appeared to offer quite a wide choice. The breakfast equally had a good choice of both hot and cold foods on offer but the hot food was very disappointing in that both the poached eggs and the scrambled eggs were very hard and like rubber. After my stay, I discussed this with the food and beveridges manager who immediately understood the problem and said that it would be addressed. He also said that I could have asked for freshly cooked eggs - I should have asked shouldn't I? The only other point to note is that I had room 308 that ovberlooked the courtyard which was probably quiter with the window open than overlooking the main road, However, there was a delivery of beer barrels at about 6:15 in the morning and that was anything but quite.
Stayed at the beacon this weekend - very thankful for the upgrade, had a wonderful room and also very nice breakfasts. Staff were all very friendly - thank you for a great stay, we highly recommend The Beacon.
Stayed for one night. Speedy check in, friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay ordering taxis, etc. Everything very clean and modern - bathroom was lovely, sheets were crisp, whole hotel bright and airy. Breakfast was tasty and good value. Even had bacon cooked to different levels of crispiness. A perfectly comfortable stay. Would recommend to anyone who will pay a bit more than some options on offer in order to have quality.
I live only a ten minute drive away but booked a night in the hotel as a relaxing break for my partner and I. I'm 7 months pregnant and it was an incredibly hot day, I was standing for 20mins to check in whilst the only receptionist on duty whom was finished checking a lady in had small talk about absolutely everything in life. I paid extra to upgrade the room purely because of the bath which I wanted to enjoy, I got up at 8:20 and went for a brisk 45min walk and when I came back to hotel there was a pitiful teardrop of water (as pictured) for 15 mins followed by absolutely NO hot water from 9:15am. I rang reception and they said the pressure gauge was not working and reassured me it would be back on in 15 mins max. It did not come on until 10:10am and I had to be at a hospital appointment at 10:30am meaning I had to have an ice cold shower to make my appointment on time and couldn't use the bath at all, which was the whole reason I paid extra for the upgrade. I also requested a high floored courtyard facing room, and was put on floor 6 at the main traffic intersection-it was a very very hot night as it was a beautiful weekend in Dublin, but the rooms have NO air-con, and we had to close the windows because of the traffic noise, which even when closed there was extreme noise from the road. Meaning we had a very hot and noisy night "sleep". Rooms are also not soundproof, at all, we could hear the guest next doors every movement including going to the bathroom and making a cup of tea. There's also only two plug outlets in the room meaning if you need to charge a phone or laptop you must leave it on the far side of the room away from the bed on the desk, and the other outlet means you must leave it on the floor!!next to the mirror at the entrance way of room. We ordered Breakfast via room service the next morning and when it arrived the main hot food plate was swimming in oil/butter. Very, very disappointing experience.
Really lovely room, hotel had a great vibe with a dj & party music. Booked a nice weekend to celebrate with my boyfriend. Booked the Deluxe King to have a separate shower & bath. The bath was amazing!! The waterfall shower was great but it took about 10minutes before the water started to get hot & there was some mildew around the sealant. Great location, super close to the shopping centre & in a nice part of Dublin. We were close to the main road so the hotel did provide ear plugs because it was quite noisy with the traffic. Overall a lovely hotel for the very reasonable cost. Thanks, Claire
First stay at the Beacon Hotel and it was very positive overall. We prefer not to be in the city centre so, with the Luas so convenient, the location was perfect. The staff were efficient and very friendly. Everywhere was well maintained and clean. The room was ideal, comfortable bed, adequate space, fine bathroom and nicely decorated. Will return.
My husband and I stayed 1 night on the Dine Out package as we had a rare night away from the kids coinciding with our wedding anniversary. It all started well with quick check-in, nice room (but have stayed in some of the other nicer rooms when on business previously), very tasty 3 course meal and pleasant waiter service. However the breakfast was very disappointing. No one came to meet us when we arrived down for breakfast, then a member of staff waved in the direction of the tables to signal we should take a seat. Our table wasn't fully set up, the cooked breakfast was lukewarm at best and the poached eggs were hard in the middle and cold. This was at 11am and despite breakfast being available til 12, you got the distinct impression that staff were not focused on service as several other customers had to ask for things thst should have been available. To top it all off, my husband ordered a coffee but no one brought one. We ended up leaving without it. I used to stay in the Beacon on business 10 years ago and always told my husband what a great hotel it was, especially the breakfast. Not the case anymore on this experience, unfortunately.
The hotel photographs well, and has a lot of nice hipster hotel features, including a small pool table in the lobby. The rooms are nicely appointed. When you see the dirty exterior (possibly why they shot the signature "Beacon" exterior at night) it is a clue as to how the management seems to take care of things. High dollar design is being wasted with cutting corners on maintenance. It's a 6-15 minute walk to the green line which takes you to city centre. No
We were on holiday and staying at Whitley bay caravan park and decided to try this place just driving past. Meal was delicious very friendly staff and the set menu is real value for money! Would defo go back to this lovely pub/restaurant on my next visit from Scotland
