stayed for 1 night, it cost 110 euro, no breakfast included. the room was utterly freezing, the curtains were hanging off the window. giant cracks in the wall. the key was very difficult to get into the lock so opening and indeed closing the door was a task. I would not recommend this hotel. I would not stay again either
We stayed at Esplanade Hotel for one week. From there, we did day-trips to Dublin, the countryside and even Belfast. Our bedroom (219) was great: a large room in a turret with a view of the sea. Breakfast was excellent. Good shower, comfortable bed. Nice hotel even if the overall decoration is a bit old-fashioned. The only negative thing : no wi-fi in the room and a weak signal sometimes in the lounge bar and reception.
Yes it could with a bit of an update but nice and clean ('cept for the fag ends at the front door) Excellent food with choice, lovely cheerful staff, and as a bonus great location, nice prom to walk off dinner.Close to Dublin and the Wicklow hills and Bray itself is pleasant.
Visited on a Thursday night as part of coach holiday. Fabulous location and would have been impressed if we were staying there a few decades ago as the hotel would have been so opulent but disappointed with facilities. 1 of the family use a wheelchair and hotel is supposed to be wheelchair friendly. There are steps to reception and to lift. You have to ask reception to open a side door through restaurant to allow wheelchair access. The rooms are very tired and need updating. The bar area was not comfortable. Our rooms were to rear of hotel next to train line which was noisy. I cannot recommend this
Well 70 of us descended on the esplanade for an anniversary and the food, service, ambience, room setting, staff were absolutely excellent. For a relatively small hotel, to offer starters of mixed fruit, soup, ceaser salad, and mains of hake, chicken, vegetarian, or beef, with 4 desert options was unbelievable. Thanks to all in the esplanade for a fantastic night. We'll be back....
Treated ourselves to a spontaneous night away after our Little girl was born 8 months ago. We checked in at esplanade hotel at 3pm were not offered a chance to pay for breakfast the next morning as it was not offered in reception. We were quickly dealt with and told our room was 3 flights of stairs up with no lift. Got to the room were the door was left unlocked and the room freezing. The room was old with mould and paint falling off walls, stained pillows, sheets with hairs i don't need to continue as pictures are posted of this horrible room as they do not advertise it on there website themselves left hotel at 9am could not leave quick enough this is definitely not a 100euro room!!!!!
Great location on the seafront at Bray. Out the front door and across the road and park and you are on the stony beach. Breakfast decent value for Ireland (€10 adult, €5 child) and good selection of hot and cold food. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel at the back with a view towards the hills.. Room was good size, proper bathroom, good beds and duvets. Windows need replacing. But after a hard day in Dublin, my wife wanted a bath, only to find there was no plug. Reception managed to find a plug, but it was too small. So no bath.
The Esplanade is typical of those lovely Victorian hotels, that once were so much in vogue! Frankly I rather like the style and get nostalgic for their heyday! The Esplanade is in good condition - well kept and very clean! Best feature for us was the friendly staff - in all departments! The hotels lication - on the beach is ideal for briskscwalks along the ‘prom’! Strongly recommended!
Looks nice from the outside and some rooms look like they have great sea views. I got a view of the roof in the extension to the hotel. But it was ok. Snuggly duvet but that was about it. Like many sea side hotels it was rough round the edges. Awful smell from the toilet despite complaining twice. Loud guests who i had to call reception to quiet them at 1am. I never saw the restaurant open except for breakfast but there are some nice places down the road. They could only guarantee wifi in public areas not the rooms. Luckily i could pick it up but come on this is 2017. I wouldn't stay again
Have visited for just one night however did not have any food or drink in there. Hotel is situated in a great location however feels a bit dated so needs a good lift. There is no sign for the car park and it's rather a compact one. The room itself was massive as for some reason we were given one with 2 double beds in it. Bed was extremely comfy so had a good sleep. If you looking for a great location that's the place to be in.
