Clarion Hotel Liffey Valley

We got this hotel as part of a flight-car-hotel package (for nine nights) and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. Though our room was a FAR walk from the main lobby with--count them--290 steps to the parking lot, the hotel was clean, comfortable, the bed was great, and the staff friendly. The shower overflowed onto the bathroom floor, though, due to a poor setup in the shower door structure, and the wait one night in the hotel restaurant was 40 minutes for our food (and with very mediocre service). Food is great, though. Terrific family atmosphere with lots of kids and families on holiday. Enjoyed talking with other guests and their kids (though noise was an issue most evenings, especially on the weekends). Five-minute walk to a mall and 20 minutes into Dublin city center. Would like to have been closer to city center, but it was also convenient to M50, helpful for our other day trips.

The first time I was here (a year previously), the staff was very courteous about getting us into our room so we would not have to wait in the lobby for five hours as we took an early flight. This time, no such luck. The staff do not appear to talk to one another as one clerk told us that all of the rooms in the entire hotel were booked the previous night and that they have nothing available while another told us that we would not be able to check in until three in the afternoon (even though the room was guaranteed to be ready no later than two). We spent several hours practically napping in the lobby as we were tired from our flight and watched as large groups checked out. Eventually, through much pestering and checking in, we were finally able to get our room and rest. Room service takes a while to answer the phone and will beep shrilly in your ear for several minutes until someone either answers or you try again, and again, and again. I recommend just going to the Liffey Valley Shopping Center up the street for something quick to eat. We didn't make use of other amenities, as we did not want to spend too much time in the hotel when we could be exploring the lovely area. Overall, it is a great value and lovely hotel once you can finally get into your room and unpack/rest.

love the pool and gym perfect for visting the city and all the fun spots

I have to be honest. I love the Clarion, but this visit it seemed as if the hotel was going downhill a bit. The toilet tank leaked. There was no remote control for the TV. The bed and mattresses dipped and the sheets didn't quite fit.. All in all I'm happy with the hotel, I was just a bit put off this time.

The location was great: just outside the city, very near a shopping center, immediately next to a great restaurant. The staff was courteous and helpful. The only downside was that neither my wife nor I slept comfortably. The beds left us sore every morning. Overall, a great stay for the price.

This was a honeymoon for my husband and I. The hotel was just okay. The "bed" for our honeymoon was two twins pushed together, with a fitted sheet over the bed seams. I expected 1 single bed that we would both sleep in, not two seperate beds put together. Also the water temperature was never constant in the shower, it ran exteremely hot and then cold, you constantly had to play with it. Based on the description as well, I expected this hotel to be closer to city center, downtown Dublin, it was not. It was a 20 euro cab ride, or an hour (give or take) bus ride down to city center. The bus system is not the easiest to figure out either. This may be fine for families that are not interested in downtown Dublin, but for us this was not an ideal location for us. The hotel for the most part was clean, but our room could have used a paint touch up, there were scratches all over the walls with paint removed.

The room was very nice and clean. The staff was always friendly and helpful. They helped us get to know the bus lines and local attractions. The Asian restaurant on the premises was really good. The city bus was right outside the door. It cost $2.80 to get into Dublin. The buses ran until about 11 o'clock. The on/off tour bus picked us up at the hotel in the morning. The tour cost was great and we saw most of the sights of Dublin. There was a shopping mall with food court a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We would absolutely go back again to this hotel.

The staff was great, the room was great. I could not have been happier

The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful! But when they say they have Free Wifi throughout the hotel they only mean the main lobby. The beds were hard as a concrete slab. And in our room it looked as if art work had been ripped off the walls and left paint chips missing. There was next to NO hot water at 0300-0400 in the morning- and when getting up early for tours it was a real problem. Cold showers when it's 30 degrees out are NO FUN. The $ saved here isn't worth the distance from town since the bus fair is 4.80 Euro round trip per person. Next trip I'll stay in town and pay the extra!

Lovely hotel, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room

This hotel was comfortable enough, but nothing spectacular. The front desk staff was not very welcoming, although the Concierge, maids, retaurant and bar staff were quite friendly and open with smiles all around...too bad the front desk was consistently dour. The room was clean enough and the food was good enough, but again, nothing out of the ordinary with a small plus.

This was an ordinary hotel. Nothing to fancy. The breakfast was horrible. Everything water downed and just nasty. The restaurant across the street was awesome. (Greenleaf or Greeentree) Very nice people and great food.

Every year I travel to Ireland. I love this Clarion because its location and amenities. But this year I lost a gold ring on the way out and they returned to me. I am more than greatful for their honesty. THANK YOU!!!

When we arrived at the hotel we immediately noticed how much different it appears from the pictures posted online. During the daytime the outside appears somewhat dated. (The photos of the hotel online were taken at night.) However, once we went inside, it was as pictured. The hotel staff is very helpful and courteous. The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is no air conditioner but you are able to open the window, so that made the room a comfortable temperature. The bus to downtown Dublin is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The bus system is easy to navigate. Wifi is not available in the rooms, however, it is accessible in the hotel lobby. I would return to the Clarion Liffey Valley in future trips to Dublin.

This is a great hotel for a cheap price, but.... it's located pretty far from city center. A taxi runs about 30 euro and the bus stop is really far away. The cost and effort for transportation destroyed my travel expenses.

Hotel was just okay. Staff was friendly but not helpful. This was what I consider a budget hotel. The location was out of town. We needed to take a bus to Get to Dublin,. The bus was a 15 minute walk away.Shower was cold.Beds were hard with rough linen.

We were told we could check in early as our flight arrived at 5:30am. We phoned at 9am just to be sure and were told we could check in at 10am. We arrived at the hotel and were told it would be 11am. At 1pm, they finally said we would be checking in at 2pm. We had two 8 year old girls so this was not acceptable. We blew a fuse in the electric outlets when the hairdryer was plugged in. We were told it would be fixed that night, Friday. It was finally fixed on Monday after several calls to the front desk. No credit given for this inconvenience. No tissues in room. Room was extremely hot. STAFF in the entire hotel were extremely rude!

The gym facilities are fantastic, treadmills, sauna, steam room, a large pool however the room was very cold and no heat available.

The Hotel was fine. No Air Conditioning and it was just the bare minimum of everything. There was a blow dryer in the room which was nice and free wifi in the lobby. But for the price I paid I can't really complain. Within walking distance to a mall and resturant

Everything at the hotel was great, except for a few things. Parking at the hotel over 3 hours is charged 4 euros. The full Irish breakfast is good, but is not included with the room, and is 10 euros each. The double superior room has twin beds put together, which leaves a gap down the middle, and are quite hard matresses. (not firm, but hard!) The positives were the excellent maid service, wired internet in the room (Wireless is available in the lobby-free), very clean rooms, adjacent fitness center with jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms. The Liffey valley mall is within walking distance. It has a Starbucks, and several food court places to eat. The staff was very friendly, and eager to help. Easy access to Motorways from the hotel.
