This was my hotel of choice when booking two to three day lay-overs in Dubai. **How it used to be when named Suha City Hotel** Their staff always made you feel welcomed and special. You were never treated as an inconvenience or with distain. They use to have one of the best breakfast buffets that included a variety of well prepared, good tasting food. They also had a great local fresh yogurt. Their lunch and dinner choices were always good, served hot. The pool attendant always acted as he was delighted to see you and made sure you had a towel and a bottle of chilled water. **Now as the RainTree Hotel** The hotel seems now to be primarily focused on large eastern tour groups. I felt as though I was a sub-par guest that was only tolerated because I was paying for a room. The staff no longer creates the environment that made this hotel special. In fact the pool attended appeared to be bothered that I choose to use the pool. When I went to the breakfast buffet, I was told that the seating area near the TV (and food) was reserved. I was permitted to choose a seat at the furthest most tables. This was 0645, 15 minutes after they opened. I and one other unfortunate single patron were the only guests. Lunch, kids were running unattended and using their hands to “check the food” and then toss it back on the serving plates. Very Gross! The same scene was experienced at breakfast. After two fails, I chose to eat at other local establishments the rest of my stay. Conclusion: Very rough start under the new name RainTree. They may return to their more boutique and personal approach to guests, but I will not hold my breath. As there are a large number of good hotels in the same general area, I will stay elsewhere on my next trip.
I had just a one night, one day trip to Dubai and took a chance on the Suha City Hotel, mainly because the photos in the hotel listing looked good, the price was very low for the kind of facilities shown in the photos, and the description mentioned that it was close to the Metro, which would make it easy for me to get to my meeting the morning after I arrived. It turned out I was taking no chance at all. The room amenities and hotel facilities were far better than I expected for the price and better than I had experienced at Dubai hotels charging more than twice as much for rooms. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Even better was that there was no charge for the internet access. The Dubai hotels I had stayed at in the past all charged for internet access, except one hotel where I was a high level member in the hotel chain's frequent stay program. But best was the convenience. In the past I stayed at hotels close to the business district where most of my meetings would be held. Suha City is only about a 10 minute walk to the Metro, so I lost almost no convenience for easy travel to my meetings. Plus, being close to the airport, it was no problem to get there and check-in quickly on arrival so that I could get a little sleep and to get back to collect my luggage to go to the airport on leaving without getting stressed out about it taking a lot of extra time. I will definitely stay at Suha City again on future trips to Dubai.
