My husband and I absolutely loved staying here. While searching for accommodation in Dubai, I was hoping to find something traditional rather than the usual hotel. I managed to find this guesthouse which is similar to the riads in Morocco which I absolutely loved. It's about 2 mins walk from Al Ras metro stop in the Deira neighbourhood. The guesthouse occupies 2 building. We went to the main building for registration and were then shown to the 2nd building for our room. The room is spacious and clean with traditional furniture. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast is held at the main building. They will have eggs, your preferred style, breads, dips, fruits, jams, yogurt etc. During our stay, we were mainly attended to by Alena who was helpful and attentive. The area around the guesthouse has many shops, eating places. Few mins walk away, is the gold souk and river taxi area which will take you to the other side and has another shopping area. It's a very lively and vibrant area. It's also easy to go anywhere by connecting from the Al Ras metro station. We enjoyed our stay here.
This a a lovely guesthouse in two traditional old buildings in the tiny alleys of old Deira. Friendly service, simple but nice breakfast, relaxed atmosphere, spacious and well appointed rooms with traditional Arabic decor, courtyards, a small rooftop terrace, arts & crafts all around make this a perfect place to stay without the bling, noise and crowds of modern Dubai - that are however very easily reachable as the Al Ras metro station is 5 minutes walk away. It is also the perfect place to explore the souks (from the touristy to the less touristy) and for bargain shopping in the hundreds of small shops in the area. Cecile at reception was particularly friendly and helpful.
Room very spacious, we had breakfast everyday and they serve both continental and very nice arabian breakfast. staff is very friendly.the hotel is quite far from the city centre but the architecture of the building as a heritage one is perfect for someone who does not want to take lift to get to his room.
Charming hotel in two separate buildings, walking distance to Dhows in the port, the old souks, etc. Lots of interesting traditional furniture, fixtures. Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, relatively quiet. A little oasis amidst the modern sea of Dubai skyscrapers. Dubai taxi drivers don't know this hotel so you may have to call the hotel and have the staff give directions. Not far from Metro - but that doesn't start running until 10am on Fridays I discovered
We stayed here for a night with my family. The place is different from any other hotel. The design are like house of the locals before. It's near to gold souk. You. An just actually walk around the area. Close to Ras Al Khor metro station also. Breakfast has a few options already but I like their staff. Very accommodating especially Alena. My 5 year old nephew was having fun looking at the old stuff like typewriter (who haven't seen typewriter before) and the one for grinding.
Ahmedia Heritage Guest house is beautiful place to stay in old Dubai. very cozy and beautifully decorated rooms. staff is very helpful and breakfast is good with nice indoor outdoor center breakfast place to sit and talk and do computer stuff. Near to gold souk and marina to go to mina bazaar!
As others have noted taxi drivers have difficulty finding this hotel but it is in an excellent location in the older part of Dubai, in Creekside Deira. Walking distance to souks and the dhow wharfage from where you can take an abra across the water. Our room was big, the air conditioning worked well. Breakfast is OK and the staff helpful
On two previous trips to Dubai, I have come away with the impression that there is nothing genuine or old left in this crazy, glitzy, glassy city. Every hotel I have stayed in previously has felt anonymous and western, as if it could be anywhere in the world. This lovely hotel has changed that impression, and will be my home-from-home in Dubai from now on. The rooms are glamorous with heavy Arabic furniture and shutters covering the windows which open onto the corridor and courtyard in the centre of the building. Despite being antique, the bed was comfortable with a firm mattress, and there was air conditioning in the room which meant it was a comfortable temperature. The bathroom was not glamorous but functional and clean. The slight negatives of our experience was that the service, while friendly, was a bit lacking. When we asked for a cold drink in the courtyard (there are menus indicating that this is possible) we were asked to go next door to the restaurant there, when we really would have preferred to be able to sit in our own courtyard and catch up on our emails over a cold drink. Also, when we asked about arranging a driver for the day as we wanted to go hiking, we were told we would have to go across the Creek to the "parent" hotel where they "might" be able to help us. I would have thought a couple of phone calls would have been able to arrange something as simple as a driver and car for the day. However, on balance it was so refreshing being somewhere authentic that the location more than made up for these imperfections.
If u like to have a feel of old Dubai buildings this is place to stay. Very near to al ras metro and walking distance to gold souk and Dubai creek. Breakfast was average, service could be better has booking was not managed properly between agoda and hotel system.
It was difficult for our taxi driver to find the hotel but turned out to be an excellent location in the older part of Dubai. Walking distance to souks and Dubai Creek where you can take an abra across the water. Our room was big, the air conditioning worked well, and breakfast was lovely. We were on the second floor and there are no elevators.
