i stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel comfortable and pleasant but quirky. The room is quite large and well laid out. good working desk that faces towards the window but across the room, and i found this arrangement conducive to being productive. The TV is convenient to watch from the desk and from the bed. The free mini-bar was a nice surprise. The bathroom is too small and cramped, and the shower stall is too tiny. As I moved around in the shower, I would hit the tap and inadvertently change water pressure and temperature, resulting in unpleasant sensations. The staff are polite and efficient. They wear a strange combination of black clothing and red suspenders, adding to what seems to be a deliberate effort to be quirky. The red light over the bed is an odd touch ("naughty" as I saw in another review of this hotel). The hotel is located near some restaurants and is convenient with respect to tram lines. My room was quiet. I am allergic to feathers and asked for the room to be feather-free. They had take feathers away from the bed, but the room wasn't properly cleaned: i was reacting to feather remnants the first 24 hours in the room. We had a conference banquet at the hotel. The banquet room was beautiful - old style in a modern hotel. The food and service were great. I would be happy to stay here again.
This is good hotel. Interesting aspects include free mini-bar and free movies, and a slightly "naughty" (but harmless) vibe. Check-in was strict. We arrived shortly before 1pm and was told that check-in was 2pm. We were however able to leave our luggage at the front and then wander and then come back later when the room was eventually ready. On the whole, staff were young and generally helpful. The room is hardwood (or laminate with a hardwood pattern). Lots of room for luggage and other things. Our room did not face the street so we did not hear too much street noise. There is no kettle in the room. There is a safe in the room. The windows opened wide in case you wanted to air out the room. Unfortunately we stayed over the weekend where there were events in the banquet halls each night and the noise was pretty loud. The good thing is that the windows have great sound insulation but that meant that it was a stuffy room so there are compromises you have to settle for if staying when a loud event is on at the banquet facilities at night. The beds were nice but were slanted (they needed to be rotated more often/ diligently). The pillows were made of the foam bubble bits and were tolerable but not great. Towels are nice and fluffy but not particularly thick. The soap and shampoo were dispensed through a tube. As indicated, there was no bathtub in the room. Breakfast was very good and reasonable for the price (it was on the high side of reasonable), lots of choices and there were small changes every day in the cold selection side. Location-wise, it is a 10-15 minute tram ride to and from Central Station, but the stop is right in front of the hotel so that is good. There is a grocery/convenience store next door so convenient for in-room dining if you want. The neighbourhood has large houses on some blocks and was quiet at times but felt completely safe. The hotel operates under a key pass system. There are 2 spacious elevators to help you with your luggage. I would recommend this hotel unless you need to be within the city centre, keeping in mind that the city center is an easy and short tram ride away.
We stayed here for 4 nights to do sightseeing. It's a bit outside downtown but theres direct tram and bus to there so it's not a problem. Free minibar but I suggest if coffee/tea bags provided in winter would be event nicer. It was really nice of the hotel staff that we were able to rest in the room in the morning on our arrival day - I was sick. The slight down side was, housekeeping did not knock on door at all when they wanted to make the room, problem solved after we put on the do not disturb sign. Another thing was, even though we placed our used towels on toilet (instead of hanging), we didn't get them changed. The dirty towels would just been placed on the shelf afterwards, even being wet. Sauna room was nice with the shower, if attention is paid to the empty shower gel bottles, it would even be nicer. (Been there twice, both times w/o shower gel…) Staff speaks nice English and always have a friendly smile, I like it. Also it has really good value of money. The signs in room are quite funky
Outside the city centre but handy for the tram and station. Quiet. Contents of the fridge were FREE. Lovely spacious shower room. Bed must have been comfortable because I don't remember anything once the head hit the pillow. We were highly amused by the 'Nudists only' sign on the bathroom door, the red-light possibility etc - made the hotel memorable.
Great service, with free beverages (apple and orange juice, water and beer) and funny signs. I also enjoyed the restaurant, which serve simple but tasteful food. Location is ok because it's close to a train station (easy connection to downtown and airport). I stayed for a week in the studio room, that includes kitchen and living room. It was incredibly cheap, given the room and service. I would definitely return.
Good wifi in rooms, good food, and very nice and helpful people at the front desk. The cleaning in rooms was very basic... (not very good) Excellent for business travels. Great location for public transportation. Free minibar with a free beer a day! :D
Very nice clean and spacious room. Bath is small, but fully appointed with a great high pressure shower. Hotel is in a nice residential area directly across from a tram that will take you directly to the center of the city in 15-minutes. I have stayed in many hotels and have never been in one that provided free drinks from the in-room refrigerator. A nice touch. This place is a very good value.
We stayed here for three nights and were very satisfied with the accommodation and overall stay. The room was spacious and clean, with the addition of free drinks in the mini bar that were refilled daily. A nice touch, especially when you forget to buy something to drink. Breakfast was good, with enough options for both heavy (bacon, eggs, sausages, pancakes...) and light breakfast (various cereals, fruit, yogurts...). The staff is friendly and pleasant, from the reception desk to the cleaning crew. We also received complimentary drinks in the hotel's bar, another nice touch. What is more, drinks were made really well which led us to order more (cocktails and shooters). Prices are fair and the alcoholic mixes are not watered down. Hotel is not in the city centre, but is excellently connected - two tram and three bus lines and an S-bahn station nearby. Based on our experience, we definitely recommend hotel Dormero in Dresden.
Very nice hotel, absolutely recommendable, nice to have: free sauna, free fitness, free minibar, tram station directly in front of hotel Only four stars for slightly dusty room floor and two separate beds in double room
I reserved directly through the hotel's website, which worked well. Check-in and check-out went smoothly, and throughout my stay the front desk personnel were uniformly friendly and welcoming. The room was larger than expected, and included a sitting room and hallway. Everything in the room, including in the bathroom, worked well and reflected good design, although the bathroom is quite small. I like having the free drinks in the fridge. Wifi in the room worked very well. The TV worked OK, but the many foreign stations did not seem to include either the BBC or CNN. The breakfast buffet was a pleasure, and the service was warm and welcoming. Parking was in the public parking garage around the corner, and worked fine - there is an elevator directly into the hotel. The main reasons I've somewhat reluctantly given the hotel only 4 stars are: (1) the price (it is not expensive, but not cheap); (2) the location (Wasaplatz is a bit out of the way; and (3) the absence of the BBC and CNN on the TV.
