My Son booked this hotel in error and I just want to commend Bart Kuiper the fo Supervisor on his superb communication and customer service skills. A fantastic ambassador for the hotel....... C Hardie.
The hotel room was really nice. It came with a fan (nice, as the weather was hot), a tub (always good as we don't have one at home), and a very comfortable bed. Check-in & out was efficient, fast, and friendly. The hotel website warns against noise, and the room came with earplugs. We didn't experience excessive or irritating noise though. Breakfast staff was working hard, but with not enough people on the shift, things ran out at the buffet too often. Which brings us to the restaurant: food & drinks were good, and nice value for money. Staff on the terrace was inattentive, with some people a bit on the arrogant side, and us feeling invisible now and then. The girls behind the bar were really friendly and attentive though, despite them being very very busy. So "very good" is a bit too optimistic for some aspects, but rating the De Jonge "average" wouldn't do justice to the good things.
Very comfortable Hotel in the middle of Assen. Rooms were large and very clean. Nice choice on menu and a variety of drinks! Seating outside under parasols, plenty of accommodating staff. Busy Market stalls on Saturdays are right outside the Hotel and up the street. Plenty of other shops and restaurants in the immediate area to choose from. Lift to all floors at reception and most staff speak English as well as other languages!
Our room was quiet and clean. We found it odd that there was not a sink in the toilet room. You had to walk over to the shower/sink area to wash your hands. We stayed over Easter weekend and the reception area and persons were a bit confusing upon arrival, but the stay was great. Breakfast is a must!
Warm and friendly welcome by Bart and his lovely colleague when checking in. Very clean and spacious room. Comfy bed. The shower was heavenly. Dinner was absolutely amazing. Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We recently stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is right in the centre of town and the bar and restaurant downstairs has great food and drink. We had an issue with a double booked room. After several e mails this was promptly sorted out and the money was placed back in our account. All the staff were very helpful and tried their best to deal with it. We had read that being in town it was very loud but we didnt have any issues at all. Great market just outside on Saturday. Thanks again for a great stay
I stayed on this hotel while attending a course in Assen. The room was not booked by me, but by the course provider. During my stay the hotel was going through renovation work. Unfortunately, I stayed on one of the old rooms. The room was big, but it was a bit tired and an unpleasant smell came from the toilet. I would advise you to book one of the renovated rooms, I think they might be better. What I really liked was the location, right in the centre of Assen, near the museum, archive, city hall, shops and a 5 minutes walk from the train station. The traditional market also happens right in front of the hotel, on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On weekends you can hear noise coming from a club. I found the staff to be a bit unfriendly. To my surprise, one girl at the reception was not very good at English, something that is a bit strange in the Netherlands, considering that most people are very good with English. Breakfast was served on a building beside the hotel. It was the usual stuff you find in hotels, nothing amazing about it.
Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is superbly located downtown close to shopping and dining. We had a great dinner there 1 evening. Good food and wonderful service. The room we had was large and clean, and had recently been renovated. Someone is not paying attention to detail, as the room telephone did not work as the plug for it was somewhere behind the renovated wall unit. Also, at least 3 electrical outlets had no power.
We stayed here with our son (20). We had rooms 303 & 305. These are newly decorated rooms. Large and very comfortable. We stayed here whilst visiting the Truckfest at the TT circuit. The town of Assen is lovely. lots of streets to wander round, lots of little independently owned shops and restaurants to eat at.
We have stayed for six nights and we were in Assen for a training course. Room was clean, towels were clean. Heating system was perfect. The hotel is in the city center and easy to reach. Breakfast was perfect. They also nice restaurant and bar.
