Dinner was very good apart from the fact the restaurant was empty and they wouldn't serve me because I was 5 minutes early !!! Room was basic and the bed and bedding were poor quality. Thin man made duvet - I was cold and had to use a towel as an extra blanket. Bathroom a bit tired and basic. I was going to have a bath but a hair in it put me off. Very friendly staff, the hotel just didn't quite meet my expectations. Another point, don't pay for parking in the machine, check in and it will only cost you £6.

Stayed here when visiting Bournemouth but much better value for money offered in Poole. The welcome at the hotel from Sandra was great and Sam working in the Anchor bar was very accommodating. The room had a stunning view over the harbor and was perfectly serviceable - bed comfy, all amenities (takeaway cups a nice touch). Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and again the view highlighted the experience. Parking is a great asset and location is key for exploring the town.

We stayed in a standard room for just a night. The room fixtures and fittings are beginning to look scruffy and the sofa in our room was very uncomfortable to sit on; its springs were beginning to come through. However, the room was spotless and towels huge. There were several pictures of Old Poole in the room as well as a very interesting map of Poole in the 17th Century. The hotel has its own car park at the back and costs £6 for 24hrs. There are many restaurants close to the hotel and Poole Quay is steps away, as is Poole Pottery- go see a potter at work and purchase discounted goods made on site. Poole high street is a five minutes walk or take the Poole Circular bus, which stops in front of the hotel. The staff are exceptional; nothing is too much trouble, and they make up for the overall drabness of the hotel.

Could not recommend this hotel for food and rooms more highly. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The organisation of the new year dinner was fantastic the food was hot and very tasty. Unfortunately there was no scotch whisky and dogs were allowed in the rooms this I didn't agree with as we suffer from animal allergies Fantastic evening thanks to All staff

Stayed here 4 years ago this time was a much better experience The staff could not have been more helpful the food was very good all round the room was very clean and tidy Everything was good Parking at the rear. Dog friendly

Arrived late due to flight being delayed from Spain so did not get to the hotel till after 21.30. Staff very friend on arrival and told us all the do's and don'ts. We picked up our Grandson on root to come and stay with us and the staff had no problem moving us to a bigger room also came in to re make sure he beds and bring extra tea, sugar, milk and more towels. The room was very clean and tidy and nice and warm with all the normal things you find, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, tea and coffee, kettle, tv, lots of clean towels, nice bed Queen size, crisp clean white bedding, nice pillows. Good lighting, bottles of highland water and glasses and lots of plugs for charging phones and laptops, big mirrors in bathroom and door, good size bathroom with big deep bath and very good shower not modern but nice and clean. Breakfast was great and very good value from 7 till 10. We were seated at are table and asked if we wanted tea or coffee and told to go up and choose what we would like i.e. Orange juice, toast, full English, fruit, cheese ham, and lots more, it was the best breakfast I have had in years and nice and hot and the staff were very nice and happy to help. The views out the window were fantastic. Looking out over the harbour at all the boats the view was breathtaking. Full car park at side of hotel, free for people staying in the thistle. Dogs welcome. Pool high street only 10 min walk with lots of shops, pubs, restaurant. I really enjoyed my stay here and I'm sure you will to. Happy holidays

This hotel has really good points and bad points that need to be addressed. The rooms were clean had everything you would need and lovely view of the quay. It has however got the worst bar and service you could find. We came here a few months ago and commented on this but not improved. The bar is inadequately stocked - empty shelves and the staff don't know the names of basic drinks. While waiting for the bar person to find a cognac several customers left, they must lose so much money. Last time they went to the cellar to find red wine and the same thing happened customers walked out as no one to serve them. This has to be the worst hotel bar I have ever been in. Not surprising that it was empty, luckily there are plenty of bars within walking distance. However the hotel itself is in a good position and staff were friendly. But the manager needs to address the bar problems.

Booked hotel to be near the ferry port. They accept pets which was a relief. On the ground floor double bedroom, easy access to outside. Pleasant bedroom. Used room service for dinner as restaurant was booked out for a function. Bar was busy because of the function. The staff kindly took my order and served in room very promptly. Helpful, welcoming and professional staff. Thank you Sam.

Stayed at this hotel for business. Room is just average, but very cozy. If you stay for a few days, I can recommend. Also a room has hair dryer and iron, which are very important for me. As for breakfast, it's awesome if you love western style breakfast. WIFI hotel provides have no password (this is not secured) unfortunately.. Guess they just don't know what it means, but they should change.

Visited the restaurant at the hotel for Xmas dinner with family and friends. The restaurant has brilliant views overlooking Poole quay. We all had the traditional turkey dinner followed by either Xmas pudding or an alternative dessert. There was tea, coffee and mince pies all included. The meal was lovely couldn't fault it at all. The staff were really friendly and originally our party was for twelve but ended up just Seven due to sickness so they even packed up all the other meals for us to take home and hand out to the people who were sick because the meals were already paid for. It wasn't too costly either and there was plenty for your money. We went at lunchtime but they also do meals in the evening. We would definitely recommend it.
