Hotel is in a great location and ideally situated for the town centre shops and the beach. We booked through hotels.com using our Tesco Clubcard boost and this was really good value for money. We added breakfast and there was a good choice of food and the service was excellent. Free parking and wi-fi was available. Our room was adequately sized with an immaculate bathroom and tea/coffee tray. We used the pool once and were told towels were in the changing rooms. Got there to find they were all gone (?) So informed reception who told us they would take more down. Whilst we were in the pool and steam room, these were all used by other guests so gave up and walked back to our room wet! In other hotels you are given your pool towel at reception (sometimes in return for a small deposit) as I can imagine lots of towels go missing this way!! The changing rooms were small and not as maintained as the rest of the hotel so we did not use the pool again. We had one drink at the bar one night and the evening entertainment is definitely more suited to the older generation who were staying there! I didn't sleep great as our room was very hot but there was a fan provided in our room which helped a little. I would stay again as the hotel is in a good location to explore bournemouth.
Hotel Location was ideal for the BIC and seafront, we stayed in a family room which was dated and small however very clean and contained all necessary amenities. The room overlooked the main road and on occasion you could hear noise from passers by in the night. The restaurant food, both breakfast and dinner, were of an excellent standard and we would highly recommend it. Swimming pool was small but very clean and a great addition to the hotel. All the staff were very polite and helpful and we would definitely return and recommend the hotel to all visitor to Bournemouth.
We have been visiting the Hotel Collingwood for thirty years and so were a little apprehensive to find that there were new owners. However, at the moment, and based on our recent 18 day visit, everything is still excellent. They have made minor changes to the food offerings but it is still excellent. The majority of staff are still there and they really do make the place especially the chef Clive and our lovely waitress Monica. As long as the new owners don't change too much and keep the staff happy and respect the soul of this hotel which has so many repeat bookings every year, this hotel will remain as our second home. We have booked again for next year. Also do book dinner, bed and breakfast as the food is so good. The facilities remain great and the hotel/rooms are always clean. Roll on next year!
The rooms were clean and well serviced. A little dated but maybe that reflects the price. Good swimming pool which my boys enjoyed every day. Food was very good but more desserts need to be available as we ate at 7 onwards and there was little choice. Good location with lots of easy parking. Cleaning staff really noisy when they started at 8am. Overall really good value for money and would stay again.
A very clean hotel with comfortable rooms. The staff were helpful and accommodating with any enquiries I had. The location was ideal for the beach and town. The free parking facility was very useful. I would certainly stay there again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to a friend.
Had another wonderful time at the hotel Collingwood staff were very helpful and the kids had a great time, not as good as me as the local ciders went down a treat .😃the hotel is in a great location 5 minute walk into the town and 5 minutes from the beach. Will definitely return 👍
What a nice hotel, in a a great location. Maybe I struck lucky with the price but I have to say this is probably the best of this type of Hotel I have stopped in Bournemouth. The staff are very friendly, the room was nice and clean, very good breakfast and ample parking (not charged as an extra either, which every hotel in this part of Bournemouth seems to do) I did not try the gym or pool,so can't comment.
Stayed for 2 nights just myself and partner. Hotel was in a decent location close to everything. Staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean and tidy but the room we stayed in was not worth paying £230 for. I was quite disappointed in how much we paid for such a small room. The gym was very tiny and really hot with no water facilities. Our room was right at the front and was very noisy on the first night with stag party's shouting outside early hours on the morning and a busy road with cars screeching up and down. Other than that, the hotel was lovely.
We stayed for a few days with our two and a half year old son. Hotel location is great as it's close to the beech and across the road (opposite the Marriott) you can get the beech Clift lift straight onto the promenade. Hotel is clean and in good condition. Breakfast was great and good portions/choice. Hotel was accommodating with providing warm milk for our little one at night and morning. There is a decent sized car park also. On the first night however we were placed in a tiny ground floor room facing the main road (not sure why considering we asked for a travel cot in our room so assume they knows we had a toddler). We instantly knew the room would be a problem at night and asked for an alternative which they said was unavailable due to being fully booked. With the heat we had to leave the windows open over night and as suspected none of us slept. The road noise was very loud and there were drunken arguments in the street. The little one didn't sleep all night. luckily the next day when we enquired they organised a bigger, rear facing room which was perfect. They even moved all our stuff whilst we were out during the day. Pillows in both rooms we were in were not brilliant. Overall nice clean hotel, good location and reasonable price. Would've probably given a 5 if pillows were better.
Just back from a one night stay at the Collingwood. The room was clean and comfortable and plenty of towels, tea and coffee available. We used the pool, hot tub and sauna, which were all lovely and clean despite it being late in the evening and having already had plenty of use during the day. The evening entertainment was a friendly musician/singer playing an eclectic mix including Elvis, Dire Straits and happily took requests. He had a decent singing voice and there was a nice relaxing atmosphere with the music not so in your face that you couldn't chat. There was a mix of ages, leaning towards the over 60's but also several children of varying ages who were made very welcome and looked to be having fun coming and going from the good sized games room. We used the snooker room during the afternoon, the table was decent but the room itself could do with sprucing up as it was looking a bit scruffy, nevertheless we passed a fun hour in there and it was a nice addition to the good facilities. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the dining room looked nice and clean. The staff were friendly, car parking and convenient access to town and the Odeon complex was excellent. We would definitely recommend and stay here again if we came to Bournemouth.
