We have stayed twice, once with our dog and once without. We have not eaten in the restaurant but breakfast has been very good. Not a huge selection but absolutely adequate. Cooked breakfast items are available to order or as a self-service buffet. The hotel is set in small but nice grounds. Lovely bonus to be able to take our dog with us.
we stayed here with a group tour and compared to the other accommodations we enjoyed this place was passable. the area was peaceful and rural and the room was comfy but the shower was a bit of a puzzle. It was quite funny really. At dinner the owner made a loud speech which seemed to be at odds with the quiet intimate ambience of the place.also another speech as the bus departed.Perhaps it was because we were a large group but it was a little bit boarding school really and the actual meal was not as generous as previous meals offered on tour either. Made for some amusing comments by fellow travelers.
Stayed here bank holiday for three nights.Very good stay, staff particularly Chris (manager) very helpful. Breakfast was great with tables overlooking a beautiful garden.Room very clean and comfortable. The hotel is quiet and perfect for a couples getaway but close to Lyme Regis and other south coast attractions.
we had the most magical experience whilst staying here, the staff where so friendly and helpful and it had a very homely atmosphere which made the whole holiday so much more personal. I will definitely be recommending the Fairwater head hotel to friends and family back home
We stayed for a short break as a family with dog. Staying with a dog can be really difficult as many places either don't accept dogs or just tolerate them. Fairwater Head has a great balance. Dog free areas and areas where dogs are allowed. Everyone's needs are met. Our dog could join us for breakfast in the drawing room. Really lovely and peaceful place to stay just minutes away from Lyme Regis. Will definitely be coming again. Thank you for a super stay!
This is a beautiful hotel. The views are outstanding and so is the service. We visited over the weekend with our Dog, very welcoming and showed us around. The dogs also have 5 star treatment and very well catered for. We stayed in the main house, it was a beautiful room was beautifully decorated, it was clean, and tidy. Good choice of tea coffee and sweets and biscuits Room service was daily, and so nice to have a properly made bed. Food: Breakfast was great buffet style, fresh toast and juice also. Dinner; I had fish one night and steak the other. Both huge portions and delicious. Highly recommend the restaurant, i would go back for the food alone. Chris looked after us very well and was always polite and very accommodating. Thanks Fairwater hotel for a great weekend
Have just returned from a 2 night stay at this hotel. The hotel is well maintained and our room in the main house was very comfortable with a huge bathroom. The first evening we decided to eat Dinner at the hotel. Everything was first class although Chris could have done with some help. He didnt complain but was dashing around pleasing everyone. A glass of wine on the terrace to watch the sun go down is recommended, it is just so beautiful and quiet. Breakfast on both mornings was delicious with everything you could wish for. We knew dogs were welcome and there were a few but didnt bother us. I would recommend especially if you are looking for a lovely hotel to rest and relax.
As Australians we certainly are not used to dogs in hotels. Whilst having a drink at the bar we had two large dogs laying at their owners feet. The dog smell was obvious as the bar attendant sprayed air freshener when the dogs left. Whilst diners dined in the lovely restaurant, dogs could be heard howling for their owners. The water pressure is very low and even stopped whilst my husband showered. As farmers we can deal with this. Great spot staff friendly and it's certainly nice to know they welcome dogs with open arms.
This is a hotel that gives you an instant feeling of relaxation – which after all, that’s exactly what one needs on holiday. My wife and I were in a very comfortable room with great views over the Devonshire countryside. The hotel is a clever mix of the modern and the hotel’s Edwardian heritage – it was built as a country house in 1900. Entering the main building you almost step back in time with a beautiful large entrance hall and staircase leading to the first floor balcony. On arrival we were met by the owner who was very accommodating even though we were a little early. Ample Tea and coffee sachets are provided in your room as are welcoming small cakes/biscuits. The room had a huge bathroom, almost the same size as the large bedroom, with a ‘vintage’ full length standing mirror and a contemporary style mirror over the his and her sinks. The sash windows in the bedroom look original as do the wooden shutters either side of the large window sill where one can sit and watch the beautiful sunsets. The bed was very comfortable and modern. Opposite the bed was a dressing table and wardrobe that gave a nod to the history of the house. The room information book is really well written and the owners are more than happy to help with directions to places of interest and how to get there – offering excellent local tips on parking etc. The full English breakfast was brilliant and set us up for a day of visiting the local points of interest. I should also add the service was impeccable! This hotel has a lovely ambiance, really pleasant owners and is a great place to use as a base to discover the beauty of West Dorset and East Devon.
We spent one night at the hotel and wished we could stay for more. The setting is magical, the staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed both our dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
