Good hotel for the price. Huge building next to highways

From the exterior, "The Edward" appears to be a luxurious hotel that offers a relaxing stay, however, once you walk in things change drastically. The front of the hotel (check-in, seating area, lounge, etc.) was well maintained and very nice. But once you head up to your room and walk through the hallways, the carpets throughout were horribly stained. Furthermore, the room itself overall wasn't too bad, but the bathrooms were not cleaned very well, if at all. The shower would not drain and we couldn't get anyone up to fix it. Additionally, the walls were PAPER THIN. The thermostat was broken, thankfully we stayed there in October and not the middle of July. Also, it seemed as if they were doing some cosmetic work in the front of the hotel and they hired some seriously creepy contractors to take care of it. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed in the property itself, especially considering its reputation. Management needs to overhaul and revamp immediately.

Hallway carpet repaired with duct tape. Room phone clearly had been thrown against a wall at some point, as it was missing half of its buttons. Coffee maker spewed out a black sludge. Shower drain clogged.

Bad staff, old hotel. Dirty. I do Not recommend. Not one electric socket works. The lamps on tables in room did not work. We had to change rooms because the room we as not cleaned. The new room was not even vacuumed. Staff that checked us in had no customer service understanding or training to help make the experience better or fix the problem. What made it worse is they did not feel it was an issue that the the room was not cleaned and felt that I should just accept it as is. And add to it it was too expensive. For that price I could have stayed at any of the casino hotels. I would say the final word is stay away. This hotel needs new owners that care. This hotel used to be one of the best. I wish I had known that it is this bad.

Hotel was slammed because of a major power outage. Took over an hr to check in. This was not the hotel's fault, but I'm glad I checked in at 6pm because the line behind me grew to 300+ ppl by the time I got a room key. Again this is not a slam against the management, as I'm sure they were doing their best to accommodate all 762 rooms being sold in a number of hours.

Nice reception and waiting area, courteous reception staff

The sink has some problems. Blanket in the room not clean.

The beds and sheets are consistently very comfortable. If we needed anything the staff was very eager to help. We enjoyed the variety of free movie channels on the TV and the great view of Detroit and Dearborn was interesting to us, being from out of town.

Very nice hotel at a reasonable price. Excellent staff that were extremely friendly and helpful. Our third stay and will be back.

Just outside Downtown Detroit, the hotel was functional and provided the basic necessities for a stay. Price/value was worth it however there were very limited amenities.

Nice get way to see a football game and go to the mall

Outdated, not clean. Vending Machines don't work. Big Hotel

Very nice stay . Comfortable , I didn't like the way the sewage in the sink Seemed backed up and 15$ for breakfast ? But besides that I would come back to Edward village and recommend it

We loved the Atmosphere of the place. The staff was OK, but our problem was we where cold from the time we walked in the room til the time we checked out. Wish the experience could have been better.

We've stayed here before and will stay here again!

First time to visit Dearborn and I was very impressed with everything

Rooms are very old and not clean , bathroom and shower not clean

Rooms could have been a little cleaner around the edges. They are in need of some upgrades to keep up with the other hotels. Like new carpets, chairs, lights, and some paint here and there. But for what I paid for a two night stay I didn't let those few things bother me. Overall a great hotel for the money.

I got the room at a good discount on Orbitz, so for the location and convenience it was great. Beds were super comfy. Room was always cleaned well, the hotel staff was always friendly and courteous, the restaurant in the hotel was very nice and had great food, the cafe had nice snacks, sandwiches and salads if you didn't want to eat in the restaurant or leave the hotel. The outside spaces were well lit and felt safe if I was going to or coming from the car at night. Overall a good place for what I paid. Only "bad" thing for me was I really would have liked to have had a microwave in the room. I always bring my own "top shelf" coffee when I travel and the little 1-cup coffee maker in the room just couldn't get water hot enough to make a hot cup of coffee with the ceramic filter I brought. Also on a coffee note - no complimentary coffee, there's a coffee shop/cafe in the lobby that sells Starbucks, but really... $3.30 for a small cup of regular coffee? Guys, expensive doesn't mean good. Ugh. Find a local roaster (I know there is at least one in downtown Detroit because I went there) and get something roasted fresh and not burned if you feel you need to charge that much.
