Holiday Inn Derby Riverlights

I was in town and stayed at this hotel. It has great proximity to the town centre. The restaurant is good, the food selection and quality is good. The staff are exceptional when it comes to customer service. I would stay at this hotel again

Recently stayed here. Great location, parking facility close by and reasonably priced. Rooms are clean, pillows are a little hard but on the whole great hotel for a weekend stay. Definitely worth a visit to explore the city. Would definitely revisit

Why Holiday Inn thought it a good idea to not include a car park I have no idea. When I asked them in advance they said it's possible to drop off your luggage outside and then look for the multi storey "nearby". I chose to find the car park first and then walk back to the hotel. As the car park was designed to be integral with a huge shopping centre it was a challenge to find my way out and then a route to the hotel at rush hour. Reception is tiny and the only part of the hotel on the ground floor. At a busy check in time there was only one person on duty and the wait to be served was not good. The room itself was large and well fitted out as my photos if they work will show. The view from the Riverlights was of dull rooves. The bath was good but the bed though new was not comfy. I didnt bother to look for food in the hotel as there is plenty of food and drink available in the city. Check out was slow. The walk back to the car park in the rain was another adventure I would not expect in a new building set in a totally demolished zone. The whole place has no soul, no identity, no character and the staff knew nothing of the city in which they were working.

After previously staying at this hotel and everything great I returned with friends for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, when we checked in the staff forgot to mention there was a problem with the water. So when we got up - no showers, toilet flush system not working. We had to use public toilets in Derby and had a 3 hour journey home feeling very disappointed and grubby. If they had asked us if we would like to stay else where or even informed us of their problem, it would have shown a lot more professionalism consideration towards their customers, rather than hiding it from us.

Fantastic location. All staff were exceptional and cheerful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. No on-site parking but good loading zone beside property. Good food available in the bar and there is also a restaurant

Centrally located hotel in the building as the casino. This is as per all Holiday Inn hotels and does everything ok and nothing brilliantly. Decent breakfast buffet included in the price is a bonus. Like all Holiday Inns there are no plug sockets near the beds which is the most annoying thing about any hotel.

Best located hotel in Derby. Helpful staff, Klara and Sara the front desk girls were extremely helpful and polite. Room was clean and comfy. Parking seems to have gone up. Now £10 a day. Breakfast was really good. The buffet selection was nice and warm and there was plenty of choice of cereals, pastries, everything you would expect from breakfast.

Positioned across the road from the Eagle Centre and INTU shopping centre, this place does what it says on the tin. Clean, comfortable, well-appointed room & bathroom. Efficient lifts. Good dining room on 4th floor, with good selection at breakfast. They need to get some better bread choices than just white & brown sliced, but otherwise good. Charming, friendly service, good coffee. Ten minute stroll to the Cathedral Quarter. Two minor niggles - they seemed to struggle to remember & to deliver morning newspapers, and (despite reporting first morning) they seemed unable to fix the plug in my bath after three days. If you park in INTU it's £15 per 24 hours, but the hotel can take payment at their own front desk and reduce the cost to £10 per 24 hours - worth knowing. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

It's my first time to this hotel and my first trip to Derby University. As a PHD student I wanted somewhere close to the University. This hotel ticked all the boxes with location. On arrival the staff were really helpful and checked us in well. They have a happy hour 5-7 which is great for alcoholic drinks. Next door to the casino and over the road to the shopping centre. Parking is in the shopping centre and only costs £10 if you pay at the hotel. The room was clean and the bed is comfy. No water in the room like other holiday inn but this was not an issue. As an elite member I wasn't given an upgrade but it's not the end of the world. Shower lovely too. Breakfast was cooked well and had a great variety. As an IHG member it was also a great price to stay. The only issue we had was the noise from outside. We were on the 2nd floor and I do feel that if we were higher the noise may have not been an issue. However, there are lots of bars etc outside and also out of the hotels control. A great stay and will be staying again in February when I return to the University.

The hotel was like a maze so the room was always very tricky to find. Nice size room with decent facilities. Only complaint was there was no mini bar so you ring the bar for drinks and they charge you £3.50 to bring them to your room. Also the wardrobe for a double room was tiny. Breakfast was great though.
