I stayed here on a Sat night with my 2 little dogs. My company had booked it for me as I was seeing clients in the area. The hotel was easy to find, as was the Intu multi storey car park that I'd read other reviewers recommended to park in. The hotel is then just across the road Reception staff were very friendly & welcoming & made a fuss of the pooches. My room (245) was lovely. Large, well equipped & clean. The bed was extremely comfy. I ordered room service & the order was taken by a lovely chap & it was then delivered by a charming girl - northern friendliness at it's best The room must've been sound proofed as I couldn't hear any noise from outside & it was a Saturday night Check out was fast & efficient & yet again the staff were great I've only deducted a star as the room was baking hot & the air con was broken (there was a desk top fan which helped though) Would definitely stay again & recommend
Lovely hotel in a great location. Only thing is that there is no on-site parking which cost me more money than expected. Room was excellent, spacious and very clean. The staff were so friendly, couldn't fault them at all.
Hotel very clean staff all very friendly rooms lovely bed very comfortable if not a bit soft bar area a bit boring and expensive breakfast very good selection could have been a bit hotter brilliant position for city centre all in all very good would definitely recommend and will come again
Very good central city location by the river. Staff were very friendly including towards our two dogs, but everyone loves them! They were even allowed to come with us to breakfast, in a specific area away from other guests and where the food is served. The eat as much as you like buffet style breakfast was excellent with a choice of continental or full cooked, Tip: Pay for this in advance (e.g. purchase a voucher) to get a good price of £7.50 each, if this is not included in your room price. Many B & B's and hotels do not have one decent quality sausage on the breakfast, but this Holiday Inn has two (Pork and Cumberland)!. The bedroom and bathroom were a decent size. The air conditioning was efficient, but a bit noisy, so as I am a light sleeper I had to switch it off at night, which upset my wife! The lighting in the bathroom could be better. The only real negative is that the hotel does not have it's own car park so you have to pay £10 per day to stay in the multi storey car park a 5 minute walk away. This price is only available if you have your ticket validated by the hotel before you exit, otherwise you will pay even more if paying in the car park itself. Second Tip: Don't use the multi storey, Use what is referred to as the gravel car park, real name Siddals Car Park. It is the same distance from the hotel, and no steps/lift needed, although you have to cross a road with pedestrian crossing and it costs only £4 per day!!! Short stays like 2 hours for £3 are the same cost in both car parks, but Siddals is much cheaper for long stays. Even some of the hotel staff park on the gravel, despite telling guests to park on the multi storey. If you are staying with a dog then there is the river with a grass area behind the hotel, but please clean up after your dog as people sit around on the grass on nice days, or better still go to the Bass's Recreation Ground, just a bit further on from Siddals Car Park. I would recommend this Holiday Inn if you can get a good price (i.e. not the full £130 weekend price that was shown on the board in reception), but can only give a rating of Very Good because of the parking situation.
We had a comfortable stay in the Holiday inn. The beds were comfortable and the staff were nice. We were able to leave our dog in the room without any issue (I left my number just in case there was) so it was nice to be able to go out unrestricted. It was lovely and quiet too in the evening. The only major downside was that they barely catered for vegans at all. Even though we had stated our eating preferences before hand, my friend could only have beans on toast. If they started catering better for veggies and vegans we would definately go again.
This is an ideal place to stay if you need to be central in the city with all amenities close by, we found the staff very pleasant and polite, the room was very clean and spacious for us, the dinning area were very good and spacious, breakfast was very good, plenty to offer and again staff were polite and helpful. the only 1 issue was that just up the road there was a pub with music been very loud, luckily the Double glazing was good enough to keep out about 90% of the noise, the air conditioning was good but had to switch off at night time, as even the lowest setting disturbed us. Overall a pleasant place to stay on a good budget.
I was very impressed with the hotel, stayed in room 315 which was large, clean & very comfortable; all the staff were friendly, courteous & very professional (even after dealing with a large party at dinner & breakfast), a credit to the hotel. The quality of food was good & breakfast was plentiful. If you need to park, use the entrance near the bus station (riverlights) and follow the hotel's postcode; the stairwells were fine, nothing scary or to worry about. I would definitely return to this hotel.
Had a two day break at Alton towers and stayed here for the night, we parked in the car park furthest away using the post code given to us which was a nuisance as I tried numerous times to call the hotel. On arrival staff where very friendly our card wasn't working so they replaced straight away, rooms where very clean and the bed was comfortable, staff recommended a Indian restaurant which was within walking distance and we enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the morning, would defiantly return!
Stayed here for two nights and found all the staff to be friendly and helpful. Room was clean and modern with ample power points, a mini fridge, hairdryer , iron and ironing board, in fact everything you could need for a perfect stay. The breakfast was good with a great choice of hot and cold food, the only negative would be that on one of days the eggs probably spent a bit too long under the halogen lights as they were hard and dried up, but that was soon resolved by the chef who cooked some more,... eggcellent service!! The hotel does not have a car park but you are encouraged to park at the shopping centre car park across the road where you can get a reduced rate of £10 per night. You can offload your suitcases etc in the loading bay outside the hotel so not too inconvenient. One tip though is do not use the dark and smelly staircase in the car park, use the lift instead ! Overall we had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel.
Very pleasant stay. Comfortable large bed. Very clean. Central with car parking opposite. Staff friendly and genuine. Good value for money and breakfast was tasty. Our room was quiet overlooking an internal courtyard.
