We went on a Groupon offer of £105.00 for 3 nights B&B in a double room. I was cynical - "if it seems too good to be true then it probably is." I was delighted to be proved wrong! Everything was very good. The bedroom was large and included a sitting area with settee and table. The breakfasts were well up to scratch both cooked and cold buffet. Staff were friendly and very attentive. We didn't dine there in the evenings simply because a very wide variety of pubs, bars and restaurants were a ten minute walk away in the Intu Centre and close by. It was also a bonus to have easy parking at a city centre hotel.
This is a very relaxed but professionally run hotel.. staff are very good as was the food. A little noisey in the morning if you are a light sleeper and very reasonably priced. The Hotel does good food but you also have your pick of Restaurants and takeaway in the street.
2 day break. Many of the staff are new so can’t fault their effort but......... bar not staffed in the daytime, staff clearly don’t know how to operate tills, no idea which menus people should be eating from - we were on dbb rate. Room very small. Clean enough. Bathroom tiny. Anyone slightly overweight will get wedged between the sink and the wall if sitting on the toilet. Luckily my wife and I are slim. Breakfast on Friday morning excellent and freshly cooked. Saturday breakfast done in the buffet style. Truly appalling. Sausages raw in the middle, hash browns like Mashed potato and none of it warm. We told staff about the sausages and all were removed. I hope nobody else had eaten them or they would have been sick. Restaurant food at night pretty good - special mention for a waitress called Natasha who is excellent. Most staff appeared stressed as they were clearly not trained properly - not their fault. Very loud noises from other rooms extractor fans through the night. Management need to sort this!! Dreadful Best Western Hotel.
After making a mistake on the booking date I arrived and the helpful desk manager corrected my date and honoured the discounted rate without any problem - fantastic experience! The room was basic and expected when paying under £65 for a night. The bar area is fine and very helpful barmaid who couldn’t do enough to help. Tuna sandwich was ok, bread a bit stale and the skinny fries were a bit underdone. Overall it’s a fine hotel for a single night business stay which I think is what they aim to do well.
Lovely quiet clean and warm hotel staff very helpful free parking and 5 min walk to centre close to station. Breakfast excellent very nice double room could not ask for more. We definitely will return. Nice modern rooms bed to die for.
. When we arrived there was a wedding occurring and all staff were busy with wedding so unavailable to assist other customers . Our room was ready but our friends was not so as the foyer was full of wedding guests - so all 4 of us went to our room . The room was pleasant and clean . We were unable to lock the safe so I called reception but the phone was not answered . After 10 minutes of trying to call we went to reception where I was told "I am new and the phone hasn't rung here. Everyone is busy with the wedding" Yes they were . The manager was taking photos and other staff were oozing charm at the wedding party. Our friends asked when a room would be ready as it was after 2pm( the booking in time) . I don't know I am new !! The fiasco continued ..... 4 sets of key cards as none worked for our friends room. the safe was unable to be fixed - needed maintenance man and phone was not checked. ( we were only staying for one night so said don't worry( ha! With hindsight I should have asked for a discount) Bed was comfy and we slept well Break fast was good but staff were overwhelmed by the number of people having breakfast and there was a long wait for many guests . Some left without having as wait for English breakfast was 30minutes plus Booking out - was asked to pay £19.90 for breakfast . I said breakfast was included - no it wasn't replied the receptionist. Yes it was . ( you get the idea) no you booked through late rooms and breakfast isn't included. I went to check my email but my phone was having a funny 5 minutes so my husband paid in cash . Our friends who booked with late rooms on same day as us didn't have to pay for breakfast . Got home checked emails and breakfast was included. I have phoned and am awaiting a return call. I will never return to this hotel
Good value for money and a nice clean room. It was a very warm October so wish we had booked an upgrade and we would have had air conditioning. Breakfast was excellent but no real ale in the bar but a good selection for a 'chain' hotel. No complaints and staff very polite and helpful
I stayed here on Sat 14/10/2017. The room was ok for what I wanted and the young chap on reception when I arrived was very helpful, but the hotel was noisy with people shouting and doors banging at all hours of the night. When I eventually managed to get to sleep it didn't last long as all the noise started again. In the morning I went to make myself a drink and the cup still had coffee stains in from previous use and even worse i noticed there was blood on the bottom pillow. I was going to make a complaint upon checkout, but the receptionist was so busy that I wasn't given chance,as soon as she took my card off me she moved onto the next guest without even asking how my stay was. I have since made a complaint to the hotel and am still waiting for a reply (which by the looks of previous reviews I could be waiting a long time). I will NOT be returning to this hotel again even if it was the only one in Derby.
An otherwise good stay ruined by the hotel having only one chef on shift and making us wait an eternity for our meal. The front desk guy was helpfulness and politeness personified! He went out of his way to assist us with literealy everything we asked for. A REAL credit...unlike the humoloess restaurent manager!
To give the hotel three means it was average. In some areas it was slightly better than average and in others, worse than average. It excelled at nothing. Room wise it was worse than average. Travelodge is average. Premier Inn is average. The Stuart wasn’t up to their standards. The bed was small, the room was small, no one had checked their was milk in the tea making kit and the laughable travel hairdryer was hardwired to the wall with a cord so short you couldn’t even look in the mirror while using it. We did however find breakfast slightly better than most, freshly cooked for each guest, but the dinning room was cold and draughty. Free parking was a plus. We won’t be back. We’ll use the Premier Inn and pay the parking charges next time.
