We came to this B&B 3 years ago and it was fantastic, so decided to book again. We were given room 201 and on arrival nothing had seemed to change and the room was lovely, clean and fresh. Staff in the hotel were very polite and friendly in particular the reception/bar lady (jenny) couldn't do enough for you, she was really lovely and never stopped working and running back and forward from reception to the bar. The other lady that always seemed to work alongside her and I say work loosely was lazy and everything seemed to be a effort including smiling and talking.... Anyway after taking in the delights of derby we went back to our room and settled for the evening this is when it all went wrong... The pipework shock and rattled all night long and sounded like a child with a new drum kit on Christmas day... The noise from the lift going up and down all night was a frustrating drone. And the windows let every bit of noise in from outside from cars flying by to drunks on there walk home at 3am. Next morning armed with a recording of the pipework sound we went to reception to discuss the fact that my wife hadn't slept at all due to the pipework to be told 3 other rooms had already reported that they could also hear our pipework banging and it stopped them sleeping too. She wasn't really bothered and went back to carrying out her day. To summarise could be a fantastic B&B needs a little updating a few more decent members of staff and drink prices reducing. And fix those bloody banging pipes.....
Went to this hotel has a Christmas present from our daughter must say we weren't disappointed the hotel was lovely and clean reception area and bar was very nice too staff very friendly and helpful was raining hard last night so they went out there way to find us a brolly rooms are very cosy and clean only downside was creaky steps to the bathroom was also quite warm even with the storage heater turned off and also could hear the music from restaurant in our room we asked reception if they new where it was coming from and they duly turned the music down will be going back later this year hopefully so thanks for a lovely stay
The hotel is placed central next to the railway station. There is quite a good selection of restaurants as well in the area. But the Hotel is old and needs to be taken care of. The room was clean, but the toilet did not flush properly. I asked for an Iron to do my shirt. It arrived after me asking twice. The receptionist on the night I arrived was in a bad mood and did not have time to look at me while we were talking. In the afternoon I wanted a beer in the bar. The waiter was working overtime and telling everybody in the bar loudly about it. Breakfast was good.
Stayed here for one night only & couldn’t fault it. The location is excellent for Derby town centre & also directly opposite Derby train station. Hotel had free parking for residents also 👍 The reception were very friendly & welcoming. The room was very clean and of a good size with very comfortable beds. So we would definitely stay here again when visiting Derby
Hotel is reasonably priced and we'll located but is slowly deteriorating and is no longer a great value choice. Rooms are highly variable in quality so it's a bit hit and miss. This visit had too many problems: a) Bathroom light was not working and liquid soap bottle was blocked up so a very uncomfortable shower b) Arrived at breakfast at 8:30 with no hash browns, no sausages, no bacon etc. available - told we were last guests so had to wait for food to be cooked. This was untrue as 2 other guests arrived later. c) Room was not very clean at all. Generally I have liked this hotel (given cheap prices) in the past but I would now say go somewhere else the problems here are mounting up and up.
The bed is soo uncomfortable - poor my back & lack of sleep!! :-( .. Cooked breakfast was slightly cold and had to wait little while for more foods. Staffs are friendly and welcome. Had to leave the hotel soon as.. Wi-fi also is poor! Will come back if these will improve.
Visited for business and booked this hotel as it was centrally located to where I need to go for work. It is literally opposite the train station, loads of taxis' and buses right on your doorstep. The hotel is not massive but has plenty of rooms, I stayed in a Double standard room. These rooms are not huge but you are not in it that long, the room i was in I'd imagine it would be tight moving around in if there were 2 people. However was adequate. The rooms have tea/coffee making facilities, flat screen TV, iron & board etc. You can eat either in the restaurant or in the lounge area, if you want to eat food from the main restaurant in the lounge that is fine. Quite a good choice of items available, I'd imagine there would be something for everyone. However if not, there are plenty of restaurants/takeaways etc. right on your doorstep. The bar area is sufficient, clean, good selection of drinks and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. There is a surprisingly large car park at the rear of the hotel, I never had any issues parking (Park Street - down the side of the hotel and behind it. If heading towards the station it is on your left literally next to the hotel. If coming from the station you'll have the hotel on your right and then road is on your right. Overall I nice atmosphere, the bar area is quite modern. The staff are all really good and friendly. Enjoy
Staff were polite and friendly, room was comfortable. Place is in need of redecoration, recarpeted and definitely updating. Breakfast was worst! Cremated bacon, undercooked sausages and eggs. Mushrooms had funny taste and everything was lukewarm. Coffee was OK. Have stayed in far better places for less in this area.
We stayed here in August and would return. We paid for room only and didn't eat in the restaurant. Room was clean and comfortable, got what we paid for. A little tired maybe but suited our needs of a place to stay. Free parking on site and over the road from the station. Our room was on the ground floor by roadside so it was a little noisy but not awful.
Great rooms, helpful friendly staff. Very comfortable beds, had a great nights sleep. Own car park. We really enjoyed breakfast. I cannot fault this hotel. This was my first visit, and will definitely stay again. It was spotlessly clean.
