Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Carriage House is off the beaten path and provides a great stay option for a solo visitor or a couple. The antique building has plenty of charm and was clean and comfortable. Like any retrofit of an older building, this property has a few quirks, most of them are of the charming variety, though a few could be updated at minimal cost to make it perfect. The charming ones... finding it took a little more work than I had anticipated. It sits behind a home that as far as I could tell, was not marked with a street number. Getting back to the property is a bit of an adventure too, you pass through 3 gates, over sidewalk and flagstone (not too kind on a rolling suitcase but I just carried it). The bathroom ceiling is pretty low. I am 5'11 and my head could touch the ceiling while showering when I stood on my toes. I didn't find this to be a big deal really. There are few power outlets in the bedroom, so plugging in the cell phone next to your bed is a little tougher. (you have to unplug it to reach the bed) Again, no big deal really. The things I think could be improved...The futon on the main level is incredibly uncomfortable as a couch. I sat down once, and that was enough. I can't imagine it being better as a bed, but I didn't attempt it so I couldn't say. If it were up to me, I would just put in a real couch and scrap the idea of a two bed property. It works better as a single anyway. The shower head is pretty low-budget, coupled with low water pressure it makes for a less than amazing shower experience but I'm not super picky. Lastly, the metal grid on the stairs is a little odd as it passes in front of one of the two chairs next to the couch. This seemed like a good concept but in practice, just makes the space in that corner feel a little cramped and unusable. Long story short? I would stay there again for sure. Service was great, it was clean, and like I said, with a few small improvements, it would be perfect!
