Taj Ambassador New Delhi located near Khan market . We went for lunch in coffee shop Yellow Brick Road . Food variety very good , service and ambiance very good . Vegetables crepes with assorted vegetables very tasty with different sauces , must try once . Overall good impression of place with sitting outside in open also .
The hotel was very nice although carpet and drapery could use to be updated. Rooms were very spacious with many amenities including blow dryer, bath tub, minibar, reliable wifi, and outstanding bedding. The Ambassador is a full service hotel with a very competent travel desk, currency exchange service, laundry service, 2 restaurants and one bar, and an adequate gym. It was a very pleasant stay and staff members went out of their way to assist me. I was especially pleased with the travel desk and the lead waiter at the Yellow Brick Road Cafe. I would stay at this hotel again.
I've been in Delhi many, many times, but this is my first stay at the Taj Vivanta Ambassador. I'd dined there several times in the excellent Yellow Brick Road, a favourite of locals, btw., and friends of mine always sent visitors to the hotel as a well-priced alternative to the other, more costly choices favoured by tourists. I was very happy with my decision - it's a lovely and well-kept property, in a perfect part of the city right next to Khan Market, the stylish shop-and-dine hub, and also by a subway stop that's easy to navigate. And yet despite it's location on a busy avenue, it was lovely and quiet, very comfy and with terrific bathroom products too! Best of all? The staff - so sweet, so caring, always helpful, whether in the dining room or front desk, along with the bellman, room-service waitstaff, housekeeper...truly, everyone I encountered. It's good bang for buck and finally, I enjoyed the range of guests...not all just western travellers, but a genuine slice of life. I'm hooked. Back next year and looking forward to it...
Our stay got off on the wrong foot when our airport pickup was nearly 2 hours late (after repeated assurances by phone that it was on the way). We were told it was due to traffic, which I found hard to believe. But the night manager cancelled the pickup charge and comped breakfast for three days, which was a nice gesture. The room (a "premium indulgence" queen) was somewhat lackluster and, as others have noted, in need of an update. But it was spacious (bedroom plus a separate seating area), comfortable, and very clean. The bathroom and shower were spotless. You can still find glimpses of the glory days as the Ambassador Hotel (the ceiling fans are original, so we were told). Breakfast included a decent variety and was tasty (the South Indian selections were very good). The espresso at the lobby cafe was excellent. What made this stay stand out was the service: everyone, from the front manager to the housekeepers were helpful and friendly. The hotel is also in a great location: a few minutes walk to Khan Market and the metro, less than 10 minutes stroll to Lodi Gardens. A comfortable and unpretentious choice downtown.
The best part of this hotel is the room size and the decor of the rooms. The Rooms are super spacious compared to other hotels and the decor is elegant .It totally gives a homely feeling with a lot of space to work around. The bathrooms are also spacious and and very well maintained . The location is pretty nice with one of the major shopping and eating destination around. The Service is also great . Overall a real great stay.
I went to New Delhi for business and chose to stay at this Vivanta because of its location. The location is perfect—walkable to nearby Khan market (literally next to hotel grounds) area with great restaurants and shops. The service is 5 stars! I had a problem the first night I stayed since my room was too hot and the staff apologized and the supervisor—Satish Rana—was excellent! He moved me to a big suite that had no problems with it’s air conditioning and was just simply professional. The breakfast is excellent and the hotel is cute—colonial era decor. The only reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars was it just needs to be renovated —remove carpets and put wood floors and also renovate the air conditioning system to avoid problems. Otherwise I would stay here again!
I've stayed here a number of times on business and always enjoyed it. The hotel is very clean and modern, with good facilities. There's a pool for the weekend and lots a couple of bars. One thing that is a pain, it's literally in the middle of nowhere so forget going for a walk around at night, because you can't. Overall it's good for the business traveller but a bit far out for the tourist, go nearer the city centre as the traffic in Delhi is a nightmare.
Let me preface this review by stating that I travel a lot for work and pleasure internationally. I stayed here for four days for my fourth visit to Delhi in three years. I will be upfront and say this was not my first or second choice initially- I picked it because I booked late and most other hotels were booked up. There are three things that set this hotel apart in my view- 1) location 2) food and 3) service and one potential area of weakness 4) the dated condition of the rooms. The first three vastly outweighed the fourth for me so I recommend it. Let me explain. Delhi is a large city with obnoxious traffic so you need to pick carefully before selecting a hotel. Here this hotel shines. It is centrally located to all the key tourist and business sites in the city and gives you a flavor for the local- unlike, for example the monstrosity known as Aerocity where there is nothing but proximity to the airport. Now on to service and food. It is no secret that people who stay at rated Indian hotels are spoiled for service and breakfast spreads in this country are a point of pride. But here also Vivanta shines because the staff make you feel like they care about your well-being and treat you as a special person. This is possible because of the smaller size of the property but also because of key individuals. I would like to mention Prakash and Manas at the Yellow Brick Lane- I ate eight different meals there and each was delicious and authentic. I will eat there whenever I'm in Delhi. As for what you think of the room, your mileage may vary. I thought it was fine. I'm sick of the generic business hotels from London to Beijing to Delhi I usually stay at that all look the same and I liked the Ambassador. The property is 70+ years old, so it is a little different, but there are balconies from which you can see city life: that's why you're here in India, right?
Been there for a family dinner, indian prawn dish was not up to mark,at the same time yellow dal with tawa paratha was awesome. But the hospitality was beyond the expectations. Great service by server.
Stayed there for 2 weeks. Its asset is its staff, from laundry to cleaners and specially at The Brick- Prakash Sahoo, Prakash Bhagwat n chefs Ram Mehto. They made an effort to make us feel at home, catering for our every need. The decor of the room was tired. Location is central.
