We stayed here because we were visiting the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites in De Smet the following day. The bed was very uncomfortable, but if you like a very firm bed, you'll probably be satisfied. The hotel was very clean, but the breakfast area is small and cramped. There were 5 other families in the area the morning of our stay and there were not enough tables. The pool is a little strange as there are no stairs in it. However, it was a good temperature. Sometimes indoor pools can be unpleasantly cold, but this one was just right. They also have a spacious hot tub. It is really close to a couple of restaurants. Applebee's is in the same parking lot. You are also a very short drive to the university. At the moment there is a lot of construction on I-29 and the surface roads in Brookings. While it looks like this hotel is right off the freeway, you have to get off on the exit past it and double back. This is, of course, a temporary problem, but if you're arriving at night, it's something to be aware of.

Clean hotel, great service, friendly people. I love staying here. The beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are very nice. The breakfast was great in the morning, there were many options to choose from. They have good coffee, and newspapers available to read. I really appreciated all the amenities.

We stay here 15+ nights a year. Each time I come I am reminded why. This time our schedule and situation changed and we asked for help from the awesome staff and as usual they came through. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Breakfast always good. But it's the we'll trained staff that makes the difference. The Fairfield Inn Brookings is one of the places that just gets it. Thanks!

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel and can share the following: quiet, clean, nice pool area (pool is typical small size at a hotel), good location (an Applebee's next door), staff helpful and friendly. I wish the bed was softer, but I usually find hotel beds to be on the hard side. Be sure to get the top floor since it is quiet.

The service at the front desk was great. We asked for a room on the bottom floor and were accommodated. The room was large with a large handicap style bathroom very modern and clean. We were close to the interstate and as we were travelling that was very handy. It was very quiet we heard nothing from the halls at all and we were near the front desk. There was a pool and hot tub but the area here was a bit small.

Clean and comfortable room. What sets this Fairfield apart from the other hotels is the great staff. The Front Desk staff was personable, helpful and efficient. A bowl of fresh fruit was at the front desk and ice water available. Housekeeping was pleasant and did a great job. Breakfast was good and a nice selection. Thank you Brookings Fairfield!

We stayed here for one night on a college visit to SDSU. The hotel is clean and conservatively decorated which is typical for Fairfield. The room was fine. Everything was clean and in working order. The bed was OK, a little "U" shaped but not horrible. The pool area had a small pool and hot tub. The pool area was clean and the hot tub was hot and bubbly. The breakfast was ok. Eggs, sausages, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, fresh fruit and breads.

Stayed at the hotel a week ago for a night on a Wednesday evening. The front desk lady was quick and not personable. She checked me in very quickly, but as quickly she gave me the room key, she walked away from the desk back into the room behind the desk. Didn't ask me if I had any questions or anything. Just gave me the key and walked away. The halls and rooms were all orange. It felt dated. Almost all of the lights in my room were all on 1 switch, but when you flipped the switch, the outlets on the lights all went off also. Finally had to turn off the lights at the light itself one by one just so I could have the laptop and phone charging over night. Even had to unscrew the one light next to the TV just to get that one out. Went down for breakfast, the scrambled eggs were the fake eggs that were cold and tasted like crap. The hard boiled eggs didn't even taste like real eggs either (not sure how that's even possible). Needless to say, I didn't eat anything else and just left. Not sure if I'll be back or not. Considering I have several more trips in the near future to that area, I may just have to go try the Holiday Inn Express next door.

We stayed at Brookings, SD while traveling Nebraska to ND due to bad roads over Christmas to see family. Great Staff! Great Breakfast! Great Room with Hot Tub! Decided to stay on our trip back too and Nicole Schulte the General Manager was Super accommodating. Definately our half way stay from now on! Thanks for making an enjoyable stay in a very clean and friendly Motel!

Our room was not ready when we arrived but that was totally our doing - we were early. They offered to move us to the top of the list and call when it was ready which they did. The room was clean and everything ready when we arrived. We had a family suite. The king bedrooms were very comfortable. The pull out was not as comfortable but I think that's to be expected. The pool water was warmer than anticipated and very much appreciated. We were travelling with small children who can't tolerate the cold water. Front desk staff was very friendly - when we checked in and out as well as during a prior call made to confirm arrangements. I had only two small negatives. First, we were at the tail end of the breakfast and there was not much to choose from. With about 45 minutes left there was no bread, one of the cereals was out, very little fruit to speak of, and only 1 yogurt. On the plus side the scrambled eggs were hot and waffles were an option. The second is that while the front desk was very friendly, some of the other staff was not as friendly. We met several in the halls as were coming and going to our room for breakfast and checkout. We greeted but most ignored us. I know they are busy trying to flip rooms but it doesn't take long to nod and issue a good morning. In summary, I would definitely stay here again.
