Sigiriya Rock Gate Resort is owned and run by the nicest family. The husband and wife are so welcoming and accommodating. As soon my friend and I had been dropped off at the small, but recently updated, resort we were made to feel welcome and part of the family. The family served us a delicious fresh orange juice from the oranges in their trees. The room was beautifully done and immaculately clean. The air conditioning was a welcome relief after a long tuk tuk ride. We ate dinner there and the husband made the best chicken fried rice and kottu. Yummy! The location cannot be beat. It was about a ten minute walk to the rock, which is a perfect thing to do when you wake up in the morning. From the back yard, there is a gorgeous view of the two rocks. Lovely new place to stay near Sigiriya. The owner spoke enough English to be very helpful and arrange various programs in the area.
