I got the executive floor, I think it was the highest floor of the hotel. The room was spacious and the window was huge! I could look over the square and the ocean, both of them at once. The bath was really beautiful too. Still I cannot forget the great memories in this hotel. The breakfast was great too! :) Thank you for all the staffs.
We were upgraded to a suite on the 38th floor. Very spacious, cleaned, comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent, all sorts of different types of food. The front desk people were very diligent and attentive. Would come back!
For an InterContinental hotel I am being generous with my average rating. My first night in this hotel was exciting due to sewer gas odor in my room. After speaking with the concierge, my room was changed and this problem was resolved. My first morning in the restaurant it was so warm in the dining area that my shirt was soaked wit sweat. I had to go stand under the AC vent in my room to cool of and dry before departing for customer meetings. I also noticed that every night I would get very warm due to the AC being shut off around 1 or 2 AM. This made for a very uncomfortable sleep each night. The Hotels fix for this was to have an extra key card plugged into the wall key switch to keep the AC running even when I was not in the room. Bottom line.....the Hilton would be a better selection and that's where I will go if I return to Dalian in the future.
Intercontinental Hotel Dalian is nearly 10 years old. The decoration is quite old fashioned but the taste is good. The location is great, in the downtown of Dalian. You could take the metro from airport to the hotel easily, taxi is not a good idea because of the traffic jam. And since Dalian is not a very big city, you could get to other attractions in short call. The suite room is not very big, unlike other recent decorated hotels. And the view is just the city view. It is more like a business hotel. I found hairs in the batch room on the ground and I complained to the hotel, hope the cleanness is improved now. The executive lounge is quite good, especially the happy hours. It is nearly a mini buffet with dished, rice and noodles. The drink is average but meet the normal requirements. If you are not willing to eat out, the happy hour is a good alternate. When I checked out, the reception gave me a box of chocolate as compensation of the hair in my bath room. It’s nice and sweet.
Me and my wife stayed in room 4716 at the Continental 4 nights. Breakfast for two were included for our stay we chose the breakfast on the 6th floor they have excellent choice of food. Overall experience were excellent. The cost for our stay were $10,000.00RMB. If you have this kind of budget I definitely recommend to stay here.
Large, well appointed and comfortable rooms well furnished and suitable for longer stays, , nice bar (though closes too early), staff excellent particularly on reception, great value for money and good location to access city centre, if travelling on business it's quite a long drive to industrial area though.
I rate this as average but it is too harsh.... next choice being very good but I disagree. There is no choices in between. Being in China, we tend to lower our standards and we would say it is quite good but with a chain like Intercontinental, I have high expectations. Also since I have been here before, I have seen what it was before and unfortunately, they have not kept up their standards. When I travel for work, I have no time to explore so I will rely on the services the hotel can offer. The rooms are really nice, spacious and clean. I ordered room service for dinner, chose the chinese menu which should be easy and they advertise ''fast menu 20 min''. On the phone, I am told it will take 40 minutes.... then it arrived in 30 but was cold - cold dumplings and cold soup is not was i was expecting. Took the wine from the mini bar and the day after, the mini bar which had many selections not available compared to the menu was not replenished. In the morning, I asked the direction to the nearest Starbucks and the lady sent me to a closed location (which clearly had been closed for some time for renovations). On booking.com, they mentioned Piccolo, an italian restaurant which no longer exist in the hotel. Location is good. I went to the swimming pool which is nice (the gym is tiny) and I could only smell urine in the shower area. I have to come back soon to Dalian and I'm not sure this hotel will be my choice next time. It is the first time this chain has disapointed me in all locations I have been before.
This is a good choice , as it offers good service and is well located. The rooms are spacious and nice although the decoration is fading and this hotel will need a face lift in a year or two . A solid choice .
Stayed there two nights for business trip. Room was spacious and the swimming pool was good size with a few people. However, many things didn't work. When checking in, the receptionists told me no king-size bed room available (despite I requested) and they had to put me in a room with twin beds. I asked why and they responded "if you are not happy, go check with your travel agent"... then the sockets at the desk didn't not have electricity out for my laptop and it took many rounds of communications to have someone finally came and fixed it. Then there was a leaflet on the desk promoting its Chinese restaurant. After a long trip, thought it might be a good idea to eat at the hotel. When the lift doors opened on the 3rd floor (where the Chinese restaurant situated) it was completely dark. Checked at the reception, they said it's now under renovation. I asked why you promoted it at the room and they had no clue. Having a quick dinner outside, and when coming back, my door card malfunctioned and couldn't lead me back to the 40/F (they need door card to press the lift button). Went to the receptionist to fix it, and they tried to make various kinds of excuses instead of simply verifying my identify and reissuing the card. Can't imagine it claimed to be a 5-star hotel. The whole experience was disappointed.
It is an amazing hotel, the rooms are so big and the bathroom is as big as rooms in most hotels...neatly kept, English speaking staff. Breakfast spread was spectacular. The staff was really helpful and polite
