Having a room in rainforest canopy is truly a great experience. Falling asleep listening to the sounds of the rainforest in a clean and well appointed room without the distractions of TV or internet was memorable. Walking up to the waterfall before a delicious breakfast was the perfect way to start our day of sightseeing and sitting outside by the water for a relaxing well-prepared dinner a great ending. Thank you.
Wonderful rooms set in such an exquisite tropical environment. Beautifully maintained gardens and friendly staff. The food was sensational. I was very reluctant to try the kangaroo: however, after tasting my partners dish - I didn't hesitate to order it the following night.
We had a lovely experience at the Eco Lodge, the restaurant was amazing and the staff were very professional. The rainforest surrounds were beautiful as was the walk to the waterfall on the property. The rooms were very nice as well with air conditioning for when the humidity was too much and a fly-screened balcony to sit and listen to nature. We had an issue with a masseuse being sick at the time of our booking, so the staff kindly offered either a refund, or to drive us to another hotel that had another spa. We took the option of the other spa and it was also wonderful, I want to say thank you specifically to Jodie who was so helpful with that understandable issue, and wanted to make sure that we were happy with the solution. The place is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. Also it has free breakfast! But really good quality breaky not just continental.
This delightful spot is a perfect place to experience the rainforest up close and be lulled to sleep by the incessant cacophony of sounds of cicadas frogs and birds. We stayed only 2 days but felt quite at home and wished it was longer. The cabins are beautifully designed to fit in with the environment and stand on stilts on a steep bank affording a close encounter with the tree scape from their balconies. Cabins are well appointed and relaxing. The restaurant adjoins a pool which is home to fish, lizards and turtles creating an enchanting ambience. Food is very good which is just as well as there are not really any alternative. So with their captive market, it has to be a key part of the whole experience. Unfortunately it was marred on our second night with woefully slow service we ordered a starter for my wife and two mains. After half an hour the waiter returned to say they had run out of the chosen first course! After a further 45 mins and some protestations the second choice starter arrived filled a minute later by the two mains which I sent back to keep them warm. Kitchen clearly under resourced. The ecolodge clearly needs to improve inis department if it wants to keep a reputation. This is stretching things too far in expecting the wine and ambience to compensate poor organisation. Perhaps should phase its table bookings realistically. But don’t be put off....If the restaurant service had been timely I would have awarded 5 stars
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room overlooking the jungle was spectacular. Our only regret was that we did not book more than 3 nights. We enjoyed the jungle walk with Liana as our guide. Meals were excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting to get away and enjoy nature with peace and quiet. Romantic settings for couples or quiet and seclusion for those just wanting time to relax and rejuvinate. No TV or internet in the rooms ... great for those wanting a true break from the business. Cheers! Bernice
We stayed in a rainforest bayan, and it was fantastic. The view you get of the rainforest was breathtaking, both during the day and night. Having a bath while listening to the noises of the rainforest was so relaxing. There is no wifi or tvs in the bayans(wifi available in lobby) this place is for relaxing. Breakfast was great and was included in the price. Not many places to have dinner or lunch, But you can travel 30mins to get to the closest town.
We got there with very high expectations from what we saw online. We were on our honeymoon coming from various other destinations and hotels in Australia. When we arrived, there were no signs to where the reception was, because there was no such thing. We had to go around looking for it, They received us in the reataurant, dark and quite depressing. We didn’t feel welcomed at all. Of course staying at a Hotel/Spa and in the middle of nowhere we said ok we’ll just sumerge in the spa and the facilities- how wrong were we! We stayed 3 night and there was no availability whatsoever to use the facility. People from the village supposedly come because the hotel was quite empty! We were shocked and asked how come no one told us to book if it was such a demanded place right? So there was nothing for us to do, just a tiny and cold pool. Ok we did want to rest but no wifi or TV? Isn’t it our choice the way we want to relax? The only thing in the room were two broken 1920’s books. Great fun. The room was humid, mediocre and dark. Toilet horrible !! Very noise too as a family was staying next to us and their kids never stopped shouting. In all the other hotels we had been to as we were honeymooners we got at least a bottle of sparking/ wine, box of chocolates, even upgrades to better rooms. We ALWAYS got something. Here when I told the lady she just said yeah 90% of the ppl that stay here are honeymooners. And we never even got a congrats! When we saw all the guests the following days we knew it was a lie. Not one single honeymoon couple! All groups, families, and the odd old couples. The attention was awful. Breakfast was very poor and the coffee machine never seemed to work either. We fortunately hired a car and could get out and go to Port Douglas, Daintree rainforest. We only went back to sleep because we had pre paid for it ( and very expensive for what it was) otherwise I would have definitely changed hotel! I only recommend this place to go and take a few pictures and leave.
Stay here if you are looking to relax in your room and not do too much. Its a beautiful setting to sit on the balcony and read, eat snacks and have some drinks. Great restaurant. It is on the south side of the river so you need to cross on the ferry to explore the main part of daintree so consider that if you are looking to spend multiple days north of the daintree river. Otherwise its very relaxing and romantic.
What a fabulous place, extremely well appointed treehouses in stunning location with superb staff & amazing food. Wish we could have stayed longer. I have already recommended to several friends. Brilliant for families & couples alike. Thank you!!
Staying in the heart of the rainforest was amazing and worth every penny. Guided walks available, or short walk up to waterfall. Lots of wildlife including green tree frog, brush turkey, quolls and Ulysses butterfly. Lovely comfortable room, good quality bed and bathroom facilities. Pool is fantastic, with many lounge chairs available. Breakfast included and delicious. Friendly helpful staff, ready for a chat and to help explore the area. Highly recommended!
