San Marco Hotel & Casino2.5 out of 5.0

I liked the hotel, it is placed in Punda with nearby good restaurants. Breakfasts are rather simple but good enough, some improvements can be made, adding some choices of cold breakfast, ham or cheese for example
We booked six nights at the San Marco hotel, because of its centered place at Willemstad. Boy were we wrong. People at the desk were slow and didn't speak English very good. Room was little and very outdated (definitely not newly renovated as they claim!), bed was terrible!!! We rolled towards each other at night, because of the worn down mattress. Room wasn't clean. Sheets had stains on it, multiple days. Towels also had stains. Shower was small, temperature settings worked badly: either freezing cold or cooking hot. Faucet leaked and dripped water all day long, the air conditioner did too. Breakfast is fine for one time. It's the same every day and contains toasted bread, cheese, ham and eggs. We had breakfast three days somewhere else, just because it was basic and always the same. Only reason we didn't left the hotel is because we've spend all of our time outside at beaches and only came back to sleep or shower. If we return to Curacao we would seek a hotel outside the city center and we would rather pay a bit more for a better room and hotel.
The San Marco hotel is on a top location downtown has a good price range according tot the value they deliver. The hotel feels a little bit cold and there was no click with it. I don't mind because I just want to stay there for one night. But if you are a traveler and traveling alone this is not a hotel where you find easily new friends or getting contact with others. The hotel is located down town and just step out the hotel and there are several nice restaurants. I would recommend this hotel if you have a quick stop over in Willemstad and you want to have the ease access to the city center. About thirty minutes from the airport taxi fee around 50 dollar at night or early morning.
If Inselair left you hanging at the airport, and the only option for a night of sleep is the San Marco, go for it. For any other reason, avoid this place. It is a cross over between Faulty Towers and the creepy hotel in Barton Fink. The bread at breakfast tasted like paper, the waitress... Oh, there wasn't. But I must say that there are CLEAN SHEETS !
The room was good enough to spend a few days and the bed was comfortable. We did not get a good view from the window but the top floors looked like they have a view. The wifi connection was weak and the shower pressure was low.
The convenient location of the hotel is a plus as it is in the center of Willemstad. The price of the hotel was alright and is good if you are looking for a place to rest your head after exploring all that Curacao has to offer. However, the internet connection was slow and sometimes non-existent. I had better wifi from the "free curacao wifi" that was located around the hotel and center. The water pressure was really low, the roof leaked, the toilet paper was one ply and the towels even though they were changed daily always felt a little damp, dirty and cold. The hotel looks like its been around a while but I think you get a good deal for what you pay for. The Casino is on the first floor of the hotel but the crowd was old and the people in there looked sad. Better to spend the time on the streets than in the hotel or casino.
Nice people at the desk and close to the center of Willemstad. Hotel is a bit old but for the money not bad only thing the breakfast. Breakfast not so good just ham, cheese and eggs. Would we stay here Again? Just for one night yes...
This place rates among the worst I've ever stayed in. The pictures are not realistic in the least. Floors in the room were filthy. Bathroom was no better. Mold on the ceiling and so much rust on the shower head that the water just dribbled out.
The hotel was comfortable and located in the tourist center of Willemstad. It was also easy to access taxis that took us to other parts of the island. Overall, it was a very good experience. There were a couple of downsides, however. Some parts of the room (such as the hot water handle in the shower) needed minor maintenance. Also, the breakfast was the same every day with only one option that was mediocre at best.
Good location. .close to stores and pubs. Be careful at night...desert streets and homeless. Park your car in the corner of this hotel...after 06pm to 08am is free. Iguana Cafe is amazing....happy hour every day....double drinks.
