Kura Hulanda Village & Spa

I had stayed at the Kura Hulanda on a couple of occasions back in 2011. It is a nicely located property and has a very unique set up which is worth a stay. I remember the rooms being much nicer in my previous stays although perhaps the rooms were an upgrade/more expensive room which I clearly did not have on this occasion. the hotel continues to offer a daily shuttle to the lodge I'm in Westpunt which is nice to go to the beach if you do not rent a car. The food choices are all right, not outstanding as I remembered in the past. Staff remains friendly and some I still recognize from years ago.

Staying at Kura Hulanda Village & Spa felt like stepping into history. Words can't do justice to the beautiful courtyard and furnishings. My room felt like more of a fancy plantation house than a hotel room. Staying at Kura Hulanda was definitely a very unique experience - the "hotel" is composed of many beautifully painted renovated houses. Once you step inside the compound, you have access to amenities such as a spa, pool, fitness room and restaurants. There is plenty of parking (although the lot was a bit hard to find) and there is a security guard onsite since the village itself stays open to the public. It is obvious that someone put a lot of love and thought into the hotel. Only drawback was that some of the amenities/facilities did not seem to be as well-maintained as they could have been - nothing major, just minor inconveniences (for example, non-working lamp in room). Overall, I would still recommend staying here if you are interested in staying in a resort that gives a nod to Willemstad's past.

It is as the name: a VILLAGE -- rooms are all around like if u were in a little village - in little houses and buildings- lots of vegetation and some art all around. It has a very nice vibe. It is very good located, walking distance even to the flotatong bridge.

A gem of as hotel! It consist of more the a dozen historical houses in central Otrabanda. The rooms are very large, and tastefully decorated with antique, or antique style furniture. Unfortunately the maintenance lags behind, you can see fading paint and rotting wood many paces at the property. The internet was very sporadic when I was there. The level of service would maybe be accepted in Europe, but it for from what we expect in the USA. But overall, for the price, it's a great, centrally located hotel!

Friendly and helpful staff, housekeeping cares about daily fresh towels, no bugs.

This is a unique historic property with period pieces spread over several charming heritage buildings. My room was big with a private terrace and very quiet (as I kindly requested). There are two pools over the complex and many peaceful gardens. You are steps away from all the history of Willemstad and it was a step back in time to stay at Kura Hulanda. However maintanence is not their best feature as there is water damage, some mold and peeling paint in several spots both in the room and external areas. With a little TLC this place would be a perfect gem.

Great central location! Large property with beautiful buildings. friendly staff. maintenance lags behind severely. You see rotten wood in stairways, mold in the bathrooms. The hotel has great potential, but needs work!

Great hotel colonial style. If you wanna have a peaceful get away with a gym at your service this is the choice to male

The Kura Hulanda was great, a very unique hotel which is a reconstruction of an old section of Willemstad.

very good location if want to visit in the center of the city, enjoy restaurants and shopping walking distance. there are no 110 volt conectors in the room to recharge the cell or conect any electric applicance, need adaptors to European conectors. need some attention to the maintenance in the rooms.

Really enjoyed our stay - would recommend it and would return. There were a few issues to be aware of though -- the room we were in was a "deluxe" room which only had one, shuttered window, and did not have sufficient light (natural or otherwise). The room was relatively clean, and the grounds are extremely charming. We did not stay anywhere else in Curacao to compare it to, but the room itself would be akin to a two or three star room elswhere -- but the grounds and location make up for it.

We wanted to be in town, not on the beach, so we could walk and enjoy the city. We were not disappointed. You couldn't get much closer to the center of things. The Hotel itself, is lovely, with wonderful gardens, restaurants and strolling avenues as well as pools. A few nights a week the restaurant has live music, which was excellent--first rate. The staff was outstanding and so very friendly, they learned our likes and dislikes very quickly and were so accommodating and cheerful. Our only problem had nothing to do with the hotel, the temperature and humidity was a bit warmer than we like, but otherwise the stay was perfect.

It was everything advertized and so much more! I can't imagine a better hotel or staff.

I loved this hotel's location -- just off the vibrant waterfront -- as well as the Dutch-village design and courtyards, which are unique and give it European ambiance. The staff was courteous and helpful, especially the attendant at the front desk, who was invaluable in planning my excursions. However, my room, admittedly a Super Saver, was barely adequate. It was small, musty and had little storage space. It was nothing like the one shown on the Web site. There had obviously been a major water leak, as evidenced by stains on the curtain top and the ceiling, and the top of bathtub drain came off and never did go back on properly.

This facility resembles a small village located within the city of Willemstad because it is a wonderful restoration of a former residential area. It is quaint with a definite Old World look and feel. It has a natural outdoor ambiance in spite of its 'urban' location which is convenient for exploring around the harbor, shopping and dining in the Otrabanda and Punda areas. Many amenities including multiple restaurants, pools, gardens, museum, live music, spa, etc are located within the hotel-village. Rooms (houses) are unique, varied and individually furnished. We experienced top quality service with friendly, professional, well trained staff. This is a great place where we would love to stay again.

Hotel was made of local traditonal style buildings and so was the furniture. Not the best chair and desk if you need to do work in your room. Sauna facilities where great, but are closed on Sunday. Standing under the waterfall in the eco pool is an experience you will never forget. Left the Hotel room open to enjoy the fresh air; within no time the musquitos came flying in. Hotel is located in the center of Otrabanda and when comparing the price of this Hotel with adjacent Hotels you get much more for just a little more money. When walking outside to town at night you need to go 50 meters through a street that is not well lightened.

The location and design of this hotel are spectacular and not to be missed. Every corner is loaded with detail - you feel like you've entered colonial era Curacao. Our room was fine (we did not opt for the high end price). The food was excellent everywhere (in the hotel and other restaurants as well). The service was very accommodating - I was fascinated by how the staff could switch from Dutch to Spanish to English to Papamientu effortlessly. The island itself is different from others in the Caribbean in that it is dry - cactus and beaches together! The people are warm and friendly and you felt welcomed at all times. Since this a country that does not function by tourism alone - it is more interesting than other places we've been. One very small note - The service could be a bit slow at times - as is customary in non-U.S. countries - but nothing we couldn't deal with. We did ask for one discount at our hotel, due to a meal that we felt we were overcharged for...we ate at a buffet and there were no choices left so all we had were eggs. When my husband complained to the concierge - they deducted the charge with no problems. What did we do? Swam in 6 different beaches! Explored the fascinating Punda and Otraband sections of Willemstad, ate wonderful food went to Carnaval which was great - much more family oriented than Mardis Gras in New Orleans. And lucky for us - my daughter-in-law's best freinds from college live there and showed us around - so perhaps we got to see more than some other tourists might.

The staff is slow, but the hotel itself is really unique and overall experience is enjoyable. The hotel did provide a shuttle to the beach, but: 1)the shuttle was not always on time; 2) it was a small van that could accommodate not more than 6-7 passengers; 3) there were just a couple rides a day. Nice restaurants on the hotel grounds, but there is a variety of them outside the hotel as well. Be aware:there are a lot of mosquitos!

Great hotel situated close to the downtown area! Great museum on the hotel grounds along with a great breakfast!

Beatiful concept but they need to upkeep the rooms better. Spider, dust, leaking bath. Very romantic compound, nice music and dining service but definitely needs better staff.
