One word.... "exceptional" describes the accommodations and our room in the Blue wing. The food at the restaurants wasn't noteworthy but the view did compensate for the lack in taste. Our best meals were at the pool side bar. Ask for chef "Donna"! That woman can cook!

Went for very much needed peaceful vacation. and that's what I got. The hotel rooms ( I had a suite) was excellent. not very cozy as many hotel rooms ( semi modern) but very clean , neat and well kept. I had 7 days of full relaxation on the beach and by the pool ( cocktail in hand).. Did nothing but enjoy cocktails and laying around.. Was Wonderful ! If you are looking for a place that will get you away from all the hustle and bustle , this is the place to go. (although they did have a couple of live bands playing music on certain nights if you wanted a little party atmosphere) There was a little construction going on during our stay but it was not noisy enough to interrupt my relaxation.

Hotel is nice and clean. It is definitely very romantic and should be adults only. Food could be better but there are places within walking distance to get food. My room had a mini kitchen with fridge, stove plates and utensils. If you are from the states beware that your electronics will need the adapter, but if you call the front desk they will send up as many as you need, Ladies, you can't blow dry your hair in the bathroom. The outlets in there don't work at all. At least in my room it didn't. Another thing, don't let the front desk girls (especially the one that works until 11pm Thursday-Sunday, when we were there) she made us take a $15 taxi for a 1 minute walk to a restaurant down the street from us. I enjoyed my stay.

I had an overall good time. there was a lot of construction happening so most of the restaurants were closed. The construction was pretty quiet and never bothered me, didn't even realize it was happening. I got hand delivered letters to my room about any foreseen issues for example, water in my room being turned off for an hour or so. The food was ok ( i am not a foodie), the drinks were good, ample beach chairs very few umbrellas with chairs, and beach towel service, quiet and clean. Spa and gym was awesome. I recommend a deep tissue massage. Pooja at the front desk was awesome. My room had large glass sliding doors to a very large balcony, a deep soaking tub in the bathroom, and a small kitchenette area. I was extremely disappointed with the view. I booked a balcony with ocean view, I was given an "upgrade" at check in to their Deluxe Octagon room, but what I got was a court yard view balcony. I wish the hotel was a lot more transparent with this. To see any part of the ocean I had to tip toe and look over buildings. Had I known this I would not have spent the additional money because I didn't get to enjoy the balcony one bit and it makes me wonder what the heck was I originally suppose to get? That was my biggest gripe about my room. Also I was surprise that there was no beach side attendant to serve food and drinks (the bar was close so no deal breaker) and hardly any umbrellas were with the beach chairs. Otherwise, it was quiet and serene and that was my favorite part.

Spent the week at Avila Beach Resort this past week. Overall, the resort is one of the nicer resorts on the island. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were well maintained and it was walking distance to Willemstad (though it seemed like the staff did not understand the concept of walking into town as they had not clue how long the 15 min walk was). The lagoons are great for snorkeling both inside the lagoon and just outside the break-wall. The food was good at Avila but not great and was a bit expensive for what you got. Would recommend walking into Willemstad to have dinner (highly recommend Gouverneur de Rouvill) or almost just across the street from the resort was Rozendails, both had excellent food and drinks. The was some renovations taking place at Avila for most of the week (we were warned in advance only after we got an email offering us an upgrade to rooms that were being renovated) but the resort did a good job at managing any excessive construction noises. The resort also offered a shuttle to another resort (Lions Dive Resort) just a few minutes down the road. We spent the last two days there which was a nice change from Avila. Lions had great dive facilities, a wonderful beach/cove, great beach bars, shopping and a wide selection of places to eat. Back to the staff at Avila… service when drinking or eating there is way different that what we are use to in the US. They are less attentive and once you get your food and/or drinks, any furthe

They need to spray the rooms ! We had to call the front seat at 12:30 am because Ants were crawling all over the bed with fresh sheets and no foodon the bed! THIS WAS A HUGE problem Ants are literally everywhere even though there are is no food in the rooms! I literally had ants crawling out of my purse at the airport and I the plane! They were little ants but is was absolutely disgusting. The property is absolutely beautiful! The hotel staff other than the front desk was absolutely amazing they gave me phenomenal service!

Excellent location, near town but not too close, really nice beach, great local restaurants within 2 blocks. We stayed in a Blues room over the water, views were extra nice. Room as expected but have a feeling the room is a compromise with the view from pics I saw of other room types. Having deck on the water was great but came with 2 negatives, the bugs were extra bad making me wonder if they didn't spray there (bugs were minimal on the rest of the property) and they could do a better job of picking up trash in the area between room decks and the water wall (people could also not throw trash but that's another matter!). We only ate one meal on property, a lunch, service was a bit slow but food was good.

We loved the Avila Beach Hotel. The beach is beautiful white sand with no seaweed or rocks as in many of the other beaches in Curacao. They created a cove with breakwater so you can snorkel easily and enjoy the calm water but easily swim out to open water. The staff is so friendly and genuinely happy to take care of their guests and most seem to love their jobs. Food was pretty good overall (esp. breakfast) with other excellent restaurants in walking distance. We would definitely stay at the Avila if we go back to Curacao. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay.

We loved the Avila beach hotel. We were given fresh orange juice upon check in. The staff was very friendly and courteous. We had an Octagon room on the second floor and it was lovely, complete with covered balcony. The only thing I would caution people about is the bathroom is basically part of the main room, just separated by a glass partition, so if you need privacy, tell your significant other to hand out on the balcony for a little while. The hotel has 2 restaurants and 2 bars and a cafe for breakfast and lunch. The breakfast buffet was very nice, just a bit pricey. The poolside bar was great for lunch and the blues restaurant and main restaurant were great dinner choices. The beach was very nice and lagoon was great for swimming. The pool was a little cool, but still very refreshing. The grounds were lovely. You could even rent snorkeling gear. It was a perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. We even took a trip to Klein Curacao, a small private island reached by boat--they picked us up right at the hotel.

We, as a family, found the hotel very pleasing to stay at, particularly, for families. The facilities are very good and well-kept. However, the lobby should be equipped with air conditioning in-full given the heat and humidity in Curacao. The guests would definitely appreciate it as well the staff working behind the desk, something I found totally unfair to them.

Eventhought I went for business, I wasvery pleased that the hotel was in very well conditions preserving its style and the rooms in the Octagon building are modern and confortables. All the staff is very kind and talk 4 languages! The carpaccio and picanha at Blue's are delicious! Beautiful sightseeings from my room

The Avila hotel was the perfect location. It was a 20 minute walk to downtown. It is safe to walk at night. The beach is perfect and you can walk in and snorkel. Beach chairs and umbrellas available at no charge located next to the bar.

Great hotel, we stayed in one of the Octagon suites and have no complaints.

For a top hotel with top pricing, this hotel just didn't quite get customer service. The only person that cared about us was the man that looked after our suitcases until our room was ready at 4pm. I know we arrived much earlier in the day, but we were hot and tired.. offer us a glass of water or if we wanted to sit by the pool a towel. The room was small and borderline clean. The list goes on, all in all Stay somewhere else.

The staff members with whom I spoke--at the reception and in the restaurants and bars--were all wonderful. Also the food and drinks I had were all very good--even a weird vegetarian pasta with carrots(!) in it. Somehow it worked. I also enjoyed the Thursday evening jazz evening. The room cleaning staff, though, need more supervision. My room, especially the bathroom, was never thoroughly cleaned, and there was usually crud and sand in the corners and I could see unidentifiable stuff on the walls that hadn't been wiped down. Also, while the bathrooms look nice, they're hazardous. Water from the shower leaks out onto the floor and the whole room becomes a slippery pool--and there's also the risk of running into the glass shower divider, if you're not paying attention. (I didn't, but staff hung a towel there to alert me.) Further, cleaning staff never ensure you have the same number of towels each day. I also had a problem in the first room I was assigned (Belle Alliance) because it was near the parking lot and way too noisy. Staff kindly changed this for me. I was disappointed that all of the historic charm was gone from the rooms (except the antique air conditioner that was sometimes loud). I usually turned off the air conditioner, but sometimes I returned to the room and the system had been set on high--nearly flash freezing me as I entered the room. Overall I liked the hotel and I found the staff members really friendly and nice, but the hotel is expensive, so I expected to be more comfortable in my room--and I worried about injuring myself in the bathroom. I also did not appreciate the temperature adjustments.

Private small beach, take lots of money, Food not good.

rooms are updated and roomy. could use a bit more comfort in amenities, i.e. area rug, more comfortable bed, better pillows, in-room furniture upgrades. all in all we were very happy with the location and size of the room. also included nice size patio with marvelous ocean view. beach front was awesome with plenty beach chairs. i would suggest renting/offering sports activities (i.e. snorkeling equipment, paddle boards, sail catamarans, etc. need to improve beach side menu and lower prices. cafe closed too early. staff was friendly.

Great for a quiet getaway at the beach, great beach, wonderful ocean, hotel food choices were OK, town is walkable but further than you may want.

great location to the downtown area. it's right on the beach which was so convenient! several restaurants to choose from on the grounds and all of the staff are accommating and friendly.

We enjoyed everything at Avila - but, a true standout was the effort made by the staff to accommodate all requests. In particular, Alice, the head of the housekeeping staff, checked with us multiple times to assure that we were having a successful and comfortable visit. We were!
