We stayed here for a couple of nights for a trip to look at wedding venues, we took our 2dogs with us so we needed a pet friendly hotel. We couldn’t fault the staff, everyone was really friendly and offered good service. The room was really disappointing, at was almost £70 a night plus extra fees for the dogs we were put in an old room that, although clean, was in dire need of refurbishment. On the final night of our stay it rained quite heavily overnight and we woke up to a soaking wet wall behind our headboard, as we were in the process of packing to leave we didn’t bother to complain as there was nothing that could have been done. I appreciate hotels wouldn’t want to give their best rooms to people bringing their pets but the fact we were given such a poor room should be reflected in the price.
Lovely hotel would highly recommend the new refurbished lake view double rooms.Just a short walk into charming village plenty of dog friendly pubs and coffee shops. Our stay was lovely and the staff friendly and helpful especially Shaun thanks so much
Hotel in excellent location with parking. Recently refurbished downstairs and decor fantastic. Our room was not refurbished but was clean and large enough. The main problem was the noise from adjacent rooms, it seems they have stud walls on some and this was not good as you could hear the conversation clearly in the room next door. The restaurant food was lovely as was the staff waiting on. Breakfast very good too. We had a deal on our booking so very good value for money. Would stay again.
Recently stayed 3 nights and can't thank Scott enough for his help in sorting out our stay . He is a positive influence to this newly refurbished hotel I would suggest staff raise awareness of where the facilities are (hydro pool) etc and restaurant service is speedier but it has all the potential of becoming a good hotel to recommend
Visited the Hydro hotel with a friend after purchasing a wowcher discount code. The pictures on the advert looked lovely (all newly refurbished rooms on the adverts) but we were shown into room 7 which clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly in a long time. Tired, dirty wallpaper, stained mattress and chairs added to frustration we had. Not only that, it appeared they had used a whole can of aerosol in an attempt to mark the smell of drains. We asked to move rooms and were given the key to room 12 instead. A mirror image of room 7 but slightly less smelly. Although the en suite was the biggest issue in this room as the plugs were completely blocked, meaning we couldn’t have a shower without dirty water seeping back up. We decided to venture to the spa facilities. The communal changing areas were filthy and the stairs into the pool both completely unsafe (coming away from the tiles). We ate in the hotel as we had a DBB deal. The restaurant area had been refurbished and looked lovely but atmosphere was lacking (only two tables were in use). Our food was ‘ok’ but nothing fantastic. Breakfast the next morning was dire. Inedible sausages which were undercooked. A very disappointing stay.
Awful room no privacy very small overlooked by houses opposite on the road no view. The hotel is at the top of a steep hill so not good for elderly. The view from the hotel front is wonderful. Just a bad room.
First time visitors to this area and couldn’t have asked for a nicer experience. Hotel and room was superb and the staff friendly and very helpful. The location was perfect and the views from our room was fantastic
enjoyed our stay room was warm and comfortable. The shower was a little unpredictable but powerful. lovely views of the lake from the front of the hotel. only a couple of minutes from town centre lots of pubs and restaurants. only one issue the hill up to the hotel is quite demanding.
Just stayed with 2 children. The staff were excellent, moved our room when we asked for a bigger one with the children. Clare was a massive hit with our young daughter, very friendly and helpful, a credit to the hotel.
The room was dirty with large white stains over the floor like a pot of yogurt had been spilled but not cleaned up, it was generally grubby, the extractor fan was so noisy it kept me awake so I turned it off, not knowing it also turned off the hot water. The walls were paper thin I could here the neighbors talking and snoring. Overall one of the worst places I have stayed in many years. The reception was very nice, the pool and facilities were closed without any notice and the website showed beautiful well decorated rooms. It appears there are some nice rooms but I didn't get the nice one on the website. The front of the building is a stylish historic building BUT the rooms are in a modern 1960s block around the back. I was travelling for business. Don't stay here. I paid £85 in June and felt I had been mislead by false advertising.
