Stayed 4 days in Bowness on Windemere and tried this restaurant based on TA reviews. I had soup to start which was nice, followed by the sirloin steak also nice and sticky toffee pudding which was very good. Wife had the prawns to start followed by black pork and the aforementioned sticky toffee pudding. Service was good. Food was good. Not the cheapest place to eat in Bowness on Windemere.
Have just returned from a great 2 day stay here. Very friendly staff and a great location just a 5 minute walk from the centre of Bowness. Breakfasts are truly outstanding and rival some of the best 5 star hotels I've stayed in. Would highly recommend and stay again
The gardens and reception were loverly we had a room in the main house we wasnt keen smelt of old the room could have been cleener hairs in the bath and on the floor it was our 30th wedding aniversary they did grt us a card and strawberry loverly thought the breafast was dear we wont return shame really quite perfect spot but not worth the money for us over priced
Just had a long weekend at the Burn How - just love it😀 Love the chalets to stay in- great personal space. Staff are attentive and pleasant. Great breakfast and dinner. Beautiful gardens with lots of birds. Will definitely stay here again
We stayed here for two nights in June. We stayed in the "mews" which was very private and roomy. The location is excellent being very close to the lake and township, however not too close as to be noisy. The breakfast was very good and the staff friendly. Definitely a place to consider when visiting the Lakes District.
My sister and I stayed at this hotel for three nights in June 2017. This hotel is well placed for a short walk into Bowness on Windermere, the lakeside and all the facilities there. The hotel is of a country house style. All areas inside and out are immaculately clean and cared for. The bedroom and bed were very comfortable and very quiet. The only sound in the morning was birdsong. The gardens at the hotel are beautiful and it is lovely to sit in the restaurant having breakfast and watch the garden birds visiting. Dinner in the restaurant was first class. The food was fresh, superbly cooked and extremely satisfying. I missed those dinners when I returned home! I would love to stay at the Burn How Garden House hotel again.
Wow what a last minute perfect find! Being large 4/5* hotel chain type of people this was a first for us and was booked mainly down to the fillet steak picture on the website! After a long 6.5 hour journey we received a warm and friendly welcome and was personally escorted to our room. Our room was a mixture of old and new, spotlessly clean with a very comfy bed. Just a minor criticism being there was only one chair on the balcony but we are sure if we asked they would have found us another one. After a lovely sleep, a delicious breakfast was served again by very friendly staff. A mixture of cold buffet and freshly cooked good old English and a variety of other cooked bits. Was lovely and hot and not a bit of grease in sight. Certainly set us up for the day. Micheal, who we later learned was the owner, was very knowledgeable of the area when asked and set us our daily walking challenge and was keen to know the next day where we had been. The whole place gave us a bit of a Fawlty Towers feel but we think it was down to the attentive, friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you and maybe the fact that one night we felt like naughty stop outs as we were the last ones to pick up our keys!!! We saved having dinner at the hotel for our last night! Oh my it was amazing and just like the picture that attracted us to the place. All washed down by a fabulous bottle of red. Don't be put off by the prefabricated look of this hotel! It was a wonderful find. A lovely hotel in beautiful grounds and an ideal location as it is within walking distance of everything! Fantastic, friendly staff and amazing food. Don't normally go back to the same place but if we did would certainly give this place another go. Would highly recommend to anyone.
Hotel was in a great location. Very kind receptionist Dorothy managed to find a room on a busy bank holiday weekend and was kind to show us the room before we went ahead and booked it. Room was spacious and clean with all the essential amenities . This hotel should really be a 4 star hotel. Parking was right next to our room. Breakfast was fantastic and the coffee kept on coming! Michael was a very good host too. Will definitely come back and stay longer next time. Thoroughly recommend it. Thank you to all the team for making us welcome :)
cannot fault this hotel staff very friendly food lovely room spotless convient for town 5 min walk made for a very pleasant stay will go back again good parking right outside your room breakfast choice second to none won awards for breakfast
We found this to be a good choice for access to the southern lakes. The room was large, comfortable and quiet. Parking was on hotel grounds and close to the room. The comfortable lounge and dining room overlook a delightful garden. Service is good and the food of very good quality and range. Breakfast includes a good buffet and also a wide range of cooked options. Staff are friendly and helpful.
