A most enjoyable two night stay with friends. We stayed in a small modern block next to he main hotel building in a well-equipped comfortable large double bedroom. Breakfast offered a large choice of choice of cereals, berries and juice followed by a wide choice of cooked options including good kippers, eggs benedict, florentine and royale, or freshly cooked full English. Dinner on New Year's Eve was a friendly and entertaining event with good food. Dinner on our second night included a really good steak and fish options. Hotel staff were friendly and very competent. Overall, our party enjoyed a lovely start to the new year. We plan to come again.
Travelled up to the Burn How on New Year's eve for a festive 2 night break. This is the third time we have visited at New Year and we have been coming here for many years. We love the place! The ambience, the homeliness, the food and most of all the wonderfull staff. Michael is the perfect "Mine-Host" assisted by Maggie, Melissa and Linda together with the rest of the team. Canapes and glass of fizz welcomed us into the lounge on New Year's Eve before a terrific five course dinner. Then another glass of fizz before going out onto the patio to welcome in 2018 with fireworks. Breakfasts at the Burn How are something else. Warm and cosy room after a not too strenuous walk on Monday. A really nice relaxing break once again. Thank you Michael, see you soon.
1 night stay group of 11 friends excellent location, warm and welcoming reception, and very festive, staff also excellent, this is rated a 3 star hotel, but should be rated 5 star, we stayed in a double room which are small style apartments with your own front door, lovely clean and well decorated with luxury toiletries, also your own allocated parking space, also your own outdoor patio area excellent breakfast. Just a short walk to bowness. We will be returning we had a fantastic time all round.
We visited for a family weekend away in November. It is a 4minute walk to the centre of town. The lake is lovely and there is plenty of boats and buses to transport you around the Lakes. The hotel is lovely and has a family feel to the place. The rooms were nice and spacious and we were very happy when we check in to find the heating was on and the room was nice and warm. The breakfast was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The only criticism I have is the bar prices, it was approx £10 for a white wine and lemonade and I did have a few of them. However when I mentioned the price to a lady at breakfast the next morning, she did apologise and gave me a free bottle of wine as a goodwill gesture. Will definitely return.
from arriving at this picturesque hotel my sister and I were so very pleased. Check in was quick, welcoming and efficient. The room was wonderful. beautifully appointed and great quality beds and sleeping was good. A magnificent view from the room and the balcony. The gardens whilst not huge are just perfect. We ate breakfast and the food was nutritious and yummy. Staff were always professional and made you feel welcome. There are numerous shops, restaurants, hotels, lake, boating, boat trips a fantastic place to visit. The walk into the main town area is but a couple of gentle stroll minutes. Parking outside the room was convenient. Don't forget to take a leisurely stroll down to the lake and buy a boat ticket which includes a bus ticket to go to Hilltop Farm and visit Peter Rabbit.
Just back from a quick one night stop and agree with many of the previous reviewers. A convenient and good place to stay. We had a deluxe room with balcony room 15. Didn't use the balcony however would be really nice to sit out in the summer. Rooms were clean and lighting was good, with a powerful shower or bath. We arrived early and thought we'd just Park the car and walk into Bowness but our room was available so we were promptly shown to it. Really enjoyed our breakfast and I had ordered some flowers to celebrate our wedding anniversary and these were there in place with a card from the hotel 3 hours early! Thanks, much appreciated.
We stayed here for 4 nights from 22\11\17 and were extremely satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. It is conveniently situated within easy waking distance from the lake and the centre of. Bowness-on-Windermere. The rooms are very comfortable and provide tea and coffee facilities. Staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. The place has a marvellous ambiance throughout. This was our first visit but it will not be the last. We highly recommend the hotel to anyone who enjoys the comfort provided from a small and friendly hotel
We stayed here the last time about 19 years ago, and we wondered why we had left it so long to return. The hotel suits us down to the ground, as it is a very comfortable hotel, and not one of the lakes trendy affairs. the location is excellent, being a two minute walk to Bownes centre. It is on a hill so the return walk is a bit steep, but people who visit the lakes know there are always hills, it's why we go! The food is well cooked and the breakfast cold cuts are unbelievable, what a choice! We would say this is a well priced hotel and the parking is free to guests, that is a definite bonus. I could say lots more but why don't you try it for yourselves?
Just left this resort earlier today and thought that I would quickly write about our experience before it slipped down on our list of priorities! We were very warmly greeted in reception upon our arrival and that genuine friendliness was demonstrated by all the staff throughout our short two night stay. The room was spacious, extremely clean and the bed very comfortable. The Burn How's location is excellent, a very short downhill walk to the cruise departures and at most a ten minute walk to the centre of town, with it's many restaurants and shops. There was a cheerfulness about the hotel staff that I really liked and the quality of the food was excellent. Such a lovely setting to eat in as well. I would highly recommend staying here. The surrounding area is just stunning and can justifiably claim to be the prettiest part of England. Certainly well worth a visit.
Stayed here last night. We stayed in a lodge room which was very spacious. The bed was really comfy and a large bathroom with great shower. The room could have dine with a deep clean but overall very nice. There were not many channels on the tv. Parking was great. The restaurant was really nice and breakfast was good. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this place and would stay again.
