I couldn’t fault this hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful. After a long drive from the south the reception, unprompted, upgraded us for free and we truly felt that our comfort and enjoyment was their top priority. Breakfast was great, beds were comfy, rooms were spotless. Windermere is tiny, but it was perfectly located for a stroll along the town or up to some longer walks with views of the lakes. We stayed two nights and would love to come back!
ellerthwaite lodge is an efficiently run family business, not far from windermere railway station, and about 15 mins walk to lake windermere,we stayed for 3 nights from 23rd march,as i am walking stick bound i requested, and resceived a ground floor room, this guest house is a classic quirky, quiet, comfortable, stay, the breakfast and service by the staff is second to none, nothing was too much trouble for them, the full english breakfast was enough to leave me full for much of the day, with tea and coffee served with a smile and on tap throughout the standard breakfast period, the only drawback being no lifts,as it is an old classic house,no room safes, and no 24 hour desk, although you have your own front door keys with your room keys, because we were leaving by train after the set leaving time,we were allowed to leave our cases in a seperate room, till we collected them later,we thouroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when visiting cumbria
We stayed here over Easter with our family - dog, baby and five adults. We're quite a demanding bunch because of our extras (bouncy dog and noisy baby!) but the staff - Helen, Jeorge, Fiona and Steve - were all absolutely lovely and SO accommodating. Nothing was too much for them and we had such a wonderful time because of that. They were all so kind. Breakfast was delicious every morning with a really wide selection to choose from and our (newly decorated) rooms were really beautiful. They even left an Easter egg in our room on Easter Sunday which was such a lovely touch! We were a bit sad that the communal sitting room has been turned into another bedroom but that was literally all we could fault Ellerthwaite Lodge on - it's extremely close to Windermere centre, has ample parking and the added bonus of being dog friendly is amazing. Thank you!
We recently stayed 3 nights 29th March room 9 for 3 nights. Good points.....Fab location, fab breakfast all staff friendly. Bad points bedroom very dusty on skirtings a specially back of television stand and near sink on skirting. Towels not requested on first day but left for new ones in shower on 2nd but same towels left, room was a bit dated but no problem as was out most of the time anyway. The rooms are getting renovated as there was work going on, at no disruption to us which I’m sure when finished will look lovely. Would I stay again most definitely as we had a fab time.
We will be going back here in the summer. We wanted a couple of days away to relax with our two dogs. We’ve never stayed in a dog friendly hotel before so didn’t know what to expect. We would stay here even if we didn’t have dogs, the hotel is just as clean as any other hotel that isn’t dog friendly!! When we arrived, the receptionists were very welcoming and made a big fuss of our dogs, we had a top floor room which was a good size, nice big bed and a newly refitted en-suite bathroom. Shops and cafes etc are only 2 mins away and lake Windermere is a 10-15 min walk which was perfect for us. Breakfast was lovely, good selection and good quality ingredients. We will be booking again later in the year. Thank you for a lovely stay!!
I phoned around windermere to find somewhere to stay and booked Ellerthwaite Lodge because they were so friendly and helpful. It is a lovely building with a charming lounge area upstairs. Our room on the ground floor was compact but clean. The staff are excellent - we arived late in the evening, tired after a long drive, and they immediately helped us find somewhere to eat that was dog friendly. The staff couldn't have done more to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. In a place full of B&B's this gem stands out for its excellent service - and reasonable prices.
Me and my husband came here 23rd-25th Feb we stayed in room 10 was a lovely room with everything we needed... Beds clean and comfortable welcomed by a lovely lady on the desk... Fab location... Will definitely be staying again in the not so distant future... Thank you for an enjoyable relaxing birthday weekend🥂
I had a lovely stay here last month staff were lovely young lady Jorge went out of her way to make our stay most welcoming, Gary the house keeper made our room very nice too and couldn’t do enough for us, only downside the guy on reception think his name was Simon was quite rude often apart from that the stay was delightful👌
So, we picked this little gem totally at random by searching bed and breakfasts in Windermere and it was brilliant! We arrived quite late, about 7pm but it wasn’t a problem, the nice lady on reception was more than welcoming and informative. Our room was on the top floor, cosy and very clean. Lots of coffees and teas and biscuits on a table. We stayed for two nights and our room was cleaned while we were out and it was spotless. The breakfast was lovely, such a charming atmosphere in the dining room. The staff are so friendly and will pretty much cook you whatever you request for breakfast. We went out both nights for a meal and drinks and we were advised by the lady on reception that they lock the doors after.. is it 10? I can’t remember but your room key can open the front door and there’s no curfew so you can come and go as you please. As for the location of the lodge, it was perfect! It’s about a 5 minute walk to all the shops and pubs. I really can’t fault Ellerthwaite Lodge. If I come back to Windermere, I will 100% be staying here.
This is a very nice hotel we had a top floor room it was very spacious they are doing renovations at the moment, the breakfast was really good. Short walk to the centre with nice shops and pubs and places to eat.
