We arrived too early but were greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist by the name of Martha. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and a new ensuite had been fitted. The view from our window to the lake was very nice. The hotel is very dated but offered a very homely feel and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast and evening meals were to a very high standard and provided by very helpful and attentive staff. Will definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at Craig Manor the staff were friendly and helpful, our room was comfortable with a pleasant outlook. There are various lounge areas to sit and read or sit back with a coffee or a drink from the bar. Breakfasts are very good. The dining room is open in the evening and the meals are lovely. The location is great, you just stroll down town to shops and cafes also not far to the lake and attractions. Just make sure you read the room description properly as there are lake side rooms which does not mean they are by the lake just means they are lake side not road side, the hotel is not on the lake. Still they have a very nice peaceful outlook.
We have previously called in to the bar when staying elsewhere in Windermere and have been impressed so we decided to stay this year. We stopped in Room 302 which is on the top floor facing the Lake, the room was clean and average size OK for a couple or single, a few signs of ware but nothing to spoil the stay. The staff to a person were attentive and helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble. The Bar Lounge is full of Chesterfield suits to lay back and enjoy a drink from the reasonably priced bar. The dining room is beautiful and gives a stunning view over fields and trees of the Lake and surrounding Hills. Food wise the Breakfast is a self serve buffet style, full English & Cereals all of great taste although the Cumberland Sausage sometimes is very spicy. A tip I would give is to Book the Evening meal in with the overall room as this may work out cheaper than booking separate, but well worth trying, out of the 4 days we stayed we ate there 3 times. The Feather of Beef and the Sherry Trifle are a must but all on the menu looked and smelled superb. Portions may look average but the quality certainly filled me and my wife. Will we be returning CERTAINLY a much enjoyed holiday thanks to everyone at the Craig. Also the room overlooks the rear Car Park and gardens if you like to keep a eye on your motor
I have to begin by saying how accommodating this hotel were, after accidentally booking the wrong day to stay :/ whoops. They got us a room on arrival, with lake view and dog friendly as we originally requested. The hotel is quite old fashioned but very comfortable. The fact they allow dogs everywhere except the restaurant has been fantastic. You can either leave your pooch in the bedroom while you eat in the restaurant or you can eat in the lounge with your doggy. The hotel itself is very comfortable and clean and the staff are extremely friendly. I think the price is slightly high for lake view rooms as its more of a glimpse of a bit of lake. The hotel provide beds and food for your dogs should you need them, we didnt as we brought our own but its a nice touch. It costs £12.50 per dog per night. Some people find this expensive but its actually quite low compared to other places we have been. The restaurant has an odd set up, you order in the lounge before being seated and it takes half an hour from the time you book in to eat to be seated. I guess this way you know the food has been cooked fresh. On to the food, the portions are quite small for the price but the quality is amazing. It is so tasty and possibly one of the best meals i have had in a hotel, it is definitely worth the money for the quality. The beer is average priced. Overall a very good stay and i would recommend for those seeking a dog friendly hotel in the lakes and its only a short walk to town.
stayed one night but would have liked to be able to stay longer. Paid a fraction more for a better room that was well worth the extra. had room 204. both that and 205 are super rooms, very large and lovelylake view. Staff friendly and helpful. free wifi in room and excellent breakfast. close walking distance to both Bowness / waterside and also windermere. looking forward to returning again.
A very nice hotel situated on the Lake with lovely views and a beautiful garden. The staff were friendly and service was good. My room was comfortable and had a new en suite bathroom. The food was very good - both dinner and breakfast. However, the bar was limited with respect to good ales. My issue with the hotel is it feels very stayed and old fashioned - more like a retirement home - e.g. rooms filled with worn wingback chairs. This was emphasised by the fast and somewhat early close up of the place with all the residents safely tucked up in bed nice and early.
Just got home from a visit to Craig Manor hotel where we stayed for 2 nights. The room was clean and had a lovely bathroom with nice towels and bed linen, the bed was comfy but on the small side and the TV was very dated. The hotel offered free wifi which was fast and the breakfast was really nice as were the staff. Would come back as the location was ideal.
Stayed here for 2 nights in May. Booked up rather last min as a lot of places where full. We were very pleased with our stay here. The hotel itself is lovely and presents in the traditional style of the area. The staff were more than friendly on arrival and during our stay. Lovely lounge areas and dinning room. Our room was a family room and consisted of 1 double bed and a single bed. We found the beds comfy during our stay and the room more than adequate. Plenty of tea/coffee/hot choc in room. We also very much enjoyed a lovely breakfast both mornings, with plenty of choice hot and cold. The views from the dinning room and bar lounge area are fantastic and the location to Bowness is perfect. Just at the top of the bank to walk towards the lake and shops with all its bars and restaurants. We very much enjoyed our stay and would return.
The whole family gathered at Craig Manor Hotel for a family 80th birthday treat and we were not disappointed. Beautiful setting overlooking Lake Windermere. The service was very good and the food was excellent and very good value for money. The staff were very attentive and were happy to accommodate any requests. The only slight criticism was the party were split into two separate tables which fragmented the celebrations slightly.
We visited this hotel for the bank holiday weekend , we took our little dog with us , the hotel is quaint and has very nice warm feel to it , the breakfast is buffet style but you can order fresh eggs etc , we had full board the food in the main restaurant for evening meals was excellent and would definitely recommend eating in the hotel , plenty of choice and wines very well priced , the staff were all very nice and nothing was too much trouble The hotel is situated perfectly and nice walk into the main town , we will definitely return to this hotel when we return to Windermere .
