My wife and I have just spent 8 nights at the Glenridding Hotel and we can't wait to go back. We were made to feel very welcome. All of the staff are polite, professional and efficient. The hotel is in a superb location to explore the Lake District. Our room was huge (room 11) with beautiful views of the lake and mountains. After a day's walking it was lovely to go back to the hotel for a swim /sauna before dinner. We will certainly go back and highly recommend it. Thank you to all the team at the Glenridding Hotel...you really made our holiday!
enjoyed a few drinks in this hotel in the terrace area by the river, the food looked good, and the sun was shining, the drinks are reasonable in here and there are plenty of staff to look after you, would visit again and consider the hotel to stay in
Stayed here for a night, room was clean and spacious, however I found the receptionist and the waitresses rude. This is a shame as the area is beautiful and the hotel is well located and a decent hotel.
firstly id like to say the staff were friendly and helpful. the beckside bar was lovely, food was great as was the view in the garden next to the canal. breakfast average at best, soggy toast and lukewarm hot beverages, this was consistent aswell. swimmimg pool good, jacuzzi good but steam room undergoing repair, now then, the biggest let down, the room. we stayed in a family room, small isnt the word, broken toilet seat, stained bath, small bed and even smaller *sofa* bed for my daughter. now for over a hundred and fifty quid a night id expect a bit better. wouldnt stay again but if i was around id pop into the beckside bar as nice ale and the pizzas are lovely. no point modernising the hotel but not updating the rooms. shame.
We chose the location due to the closeness to Helvellyn. After a disappointing start, the lovely girl on reception in the evening was happy to help and dealt with our issues politely and swiftly. Thank you.
Having stayed in a beautiful hotel in Penrith the night before we travelled down towards ambleside and stopped here for ice creams the kids wanted to go in the lake the next day and we had some friends nearby so walked into the reception to enquire about a room for the night, whilst waited my daughter asked to use the toilet to which the rude receptionist replied "there are public ones outside" needless to say we walked straight out,and unless the staff of best western are trained with customer service skills, human decency and how to talk to people I will never step foot in one of there hotels again
We booked this hotel as it was advised as dog friendly, but what isn't clear is that dogs are not allowed in the dining area ! We were charged £2.50 per tray for breakfast to be delivered to the room ( we stayed for 2 nights ) or we would have had to have left the dogs in the room . The breakfast was average and the first morning came without butter for the toast, a trip to reception to ask for some and was given 2 small slices to cover a rack of toast. When we ordered breakfast for Sunday I mentioned the butter and was told that was a standard portion. Breakfast arrived Sunday and it was pointed out to us we had extra butter for the toast, I did have to take the toast back as it was just warm bread. We did challenge the room service charges and was told the dining room was for residents only , to which we replied we are residents as we were staying there but it fell on deaf ears. Not sure if the room was cleaned as the towel was still on the bathroom floor which would suggest the floor hadn't been moped and the towels were damp so don't think they had been replaced. Would we stay again , at a cost of over £250.00 which included charges for 2 shihtzu's NEVER
We wanted to give some business to the Glenridding Hotel after the devastation of Storm Desmond. It had an excellent offer on earlier this year so we upgraded to a suite. Room was superb, in fact the whole hotel looked beautifully renovated though I'm a bit unsure why the dining room was open for breakfast but not dinner. Excellent location and 2 lovely receptionists welcomed us one blonde one brunette with glasses. Nice meal in the bar on our 2nd night the fresh pizza was delicious. We ate at Fellbites on 1st evening which I also love. Also spent 2 very happy evenings playing snooker in the amazing g Donald Campbell Library. We had seen some reviews about breakfast service being slow, indeed this was the case this morning but thankfully we were not in a hurry. Many thanks for your hospitality.
Very comfortable hotel with great facilities and wonderful location. Short walk down to the ferry for the steamers to get to Howtown or Pooley Bridge. Easy access to some great walks. The village of Glenridding is well worth a visit.
Booked 2 nights stay at £390 b&b. We chose this one at had a heated swimming pool. On arrival, the receptionist was not helpful at all. We were early and went for a swim. The pool was very cold ( asked her what temp was and told 29 c ) not accurate as very cold and no one else in it but us! Room was small and basic. Went to restaurant for eve dinner and told its not open but there's a bar next door that does food.not what I wanted for me and my 9 year old....a pub! Horrible food and left. That eve all we heard from 10-1.20am was crowds of people outside drunk and shouting and swearing. We hardly slept. Next morning I told reception about this and that we would not stay second night, she did apologise but did not offer the second eve refund, when I asked her to refund us the 2nd eve as not staying she said she couldn't. We left there feeling tired and stressed about the situation and crap customer service. SHE SHOULD HAVE REFUNDED US THE 2nd Eve we didn't stay. How on earth is this fair. And it's not for families at all as attached to rowdy pub, which she failed to mention. I'd be happy to hear from them with that all important refund you should have given us!! Also had steps everywhere and not for disabled people like me as I discovered.
