If I had paid 20 a night I would not complain, however I was paying a normal rate. The hotel is shabby car park full of litter and overgrown. The inside is really tired the owners are just milking you for money and investing nothing in the premises. No plans to stay there again that is for sure.

Stayed here because we were doing a coach tour. The staff were not nice. The interior of the hotel is severely outdated. The exterior needs a good tidy up, weeds were everywhere and it was very grim. Room was basic. Stains on chairs, carpets and walls. There was damp on the bathroom roof and water marks on the bedroom walls. I also noticed this in the dining room as well as the wallpaper peeling. Beds were not comfortable at all. There is also no Wi-Fi in the rooms of the hotel. You have to go to the lounge to get WiFi and even then its weak. No locks on doors of the bathroom and had a very basic lock on the door to the room itself with no other security locks. Windows were filthy and wouldn't open enough to let air in. Fire alarm went off at 8 or 9 went on for 4 mins then shut off. Our cooked breakfast was cold, which wasn't good! Good points: Food for dinner was good. Bar was Okay

Stayed here for airport parking absolutely terrible car park over full filthy dirty hotel un helpful staff would avoid at all costs Taxis to the airport no shuttle bus taxi costs £24 chef didn't want to cook any more at 20:30 although the restaurant was open until 21:00 contractors and dhss hotel definitely not for family's

Booked this hotel due to the normal one been over priced, booked on okay, not a great deal of conversation from the receptionist. Found he room okay, nothing outstanding, noise from the A45, no wifi, minute TV, slept okay. Could do with a good refurb.would I stay again, yes if none of the hotels are in budget!

I stayed the night after Robbie Williams concert at Ricoh. First impressions of hotel was reception, which was tastefully furnished, staff were very helpful, answering questions about getting to the Ricoh. Our room was clean and adequate. Breakfast was nice, English breakfast, which was nice and hot and a choice of cereals and fruit and yoghurt, also toast and fruit juice. More than pleased with the hotel after reading some of the awful reviews. Will definitely use again if we go to another concert

The exterior of the property is in a bad way. It needs painting and certainly needs a gardener but the first impression is the worst. The staff are fantastic, very polite, can't do enough for you. We only stayed here for one night prior to flying from Birmingham airport which is a 5-10 minute drive away. The rooms are spotlessly clean, tea and coffee making, clean bathroom with toiletries. This hotel is just what you need prior to flying. Food was of a good standard, beer is good and all is just so cheap. Would I stay again?... I already am in September before my next flight from Birmingham.

This is by far the cheapest hotel in an area where room prices can be astronomical - especially when there is a large show on at the National Exhibition Centre. And you get what you pay for. Our room was clean but very basic. Much of the decor is tatty. The breakfast is basic and poor value for money. There is no wifi apart from in reception. And - although we had pre-booked - we had to stay in smelly smoking rooms having arrived late in the evening. But it cost next to nothing and the staff are lovely and friendly and do their best to help you.

Situated on a very busy road and when you first approach it looks like a block of flats! The outside areas could do with some smartening up, inside is quite nice with seating areas, a bar and a restaurant. We stayed just one night before an early flight and chose this as we could leave our vehicle while we were away. Rooms are basic but clean & tidy. The 'buffet' dining experience £10pp, was okay but definitely not fine dining. There are smoking rooms on the 7th floor and a free phone to order taxi's in reception. When we returned to pick up our friends truck, some one had tried unsuccessfully to steal the spare wheel from underneath which was left dangling. It is a popular place with 'workers' and they don't mind outside food being brought in...pizza delivery etc. Doubtful we would stay again.

We stopped here on our way to Birmingham airport so we were leaving the car , as approaching I thought it was the wrong hotel , needs either knocking or giving a right good revamp , in the room the car was thread bare , didn't even both with the shower as it horrible , luckily the car was still there when we got back the area itself is a lovely area . Seems to be a lot of unsavoury characters in the reception hanging about , felt very uncomfortable . Also the alarm went off in the night which frightened the life out of me . Nothing had happened luckily .

Stayed here recently with a coach tour for visits to Rutland and Cambridgeshire... Yes, the location was an issue for the coach passengers but I figured it out: The Coach Company involved always use (whenever possible) a Britannia hotel. When I checked the recent traveller's photos on Trip Advisor I was horrified and so telephoned the tour operator who assured me that we were being allocated recently refurbished rooms. I would hate to have seen the room prior to 'refurbishment' as my photos show... The hotel, for me, was basically (and the operative word is 'basic') acceptable - just. The four main issues I had were: 1). The room telephone wasn't working, even to dial '0' for reception (this is an HSE issue and was promised it would be fixed - but never was). 2). after a long day in the hot sunshine a welcome back upon opening the room door was when I found that the bed had not been made up... great! 3). No bath mat to step onto after emerging from the bath... and there was a sign on the bathroom wall warning guests of a slippery floor when wet... for goodness sake! how much does a toweling bath mat cost? 4). Toilet leaking from the flush outlet and there was clear evidence of an amateurish attempt to seal the joint with silicone mastic - and of course there was urine/water on the floor behind the WC... not a Proper Job, as they would say in Cornwall. Other points were: leaking basin taps that has seen better days, dirty tile grouting over the bath, muck around the floor/wall edging under and around the wash basin and oh yes! hair grease marks on the wall-paper where a bed-head should be (have a comfortable night!). Final hit - bearing in mind that is basically (that word 'basic' again) a business hotel only some 10 minutes down the road from the N.E.C. and there is no free WiFi available in the rooms. Just unacceptable in the 21st century. There was, however, WiFi available only in the lobby area but the signal was so poor that my phone defaulted to my provider's PAYG connection. I had stayed in this same hotel some 30 years ago when it was a Trust House Forte. The outside of the building and grounds was mucky and ill attended. I am sure that the architect must have been an infamous person, who in 1939 was good with concrete.
