The Waldorf Hilton, London

4.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

My wife and I spoke with the hotel supervisors and other employees, and we were mightily impressed! They arranged every detail without fail, and were very kind to us. In the end, because I lost my passport before boarding our flight to London, our trip was cancelled, or should I say postponed? We were relieved that this hotel refunded our money for a one week stay. We really, really looked forward to staying in London and then Paris, but we are sure we will try again! THANK YOU, WALDORF HILTON!

Visit was too short. But did a lot thanks to the helpfulness and guidance of the wonderful staff.

The hotel is centrally located which is a big plus. I was not impressed with the room and the fact that we needed to climb a flight of stairs to get to the room on the 8th floor. We never were able to figure out how to run the heat in the room so spent 2 cold nights. There was no information about the hotel, room service, or anything in the room. Finally, the business center had a broken printer so we were unable to print our boarding passes, despite trying to e-mail them to the front desk. The whole process was frustrating and cost us 30 pounds to print them out at the airport.

Hotel was very clean and located in a very central location. Great for walking around and great night life around. Staff was very helpful.

When I booked this hotel I expected only the best of the best with the name Waldorf Astoria attached. However, upon arrival I was a bit taken back that it was not your normal posh Waldorf. You should know that the staff here is great and very accommodating, so it helped with the disappointment regarding the actual hotel. My room was not ready so they set me up for free drinks at the bar. They were very apoligetic and sincere. I booked a specific room and was given another room that was filthy. They moved me during my dinner and I was a little annoyed, but my new room was very nice and clean. The concierge made great recommendations throughout my entire stay.

I booked this hotel with a flight+hotel deal the DAY BEFORE we left. The cost was extremely reasonable compared to the room we received. I upgraded to the Queen Bed Deluxe Room. The room was clean and spacious (I should state that I live in New York City; the room was as big as most studio apartments in NYC). The hotel floor (floor 5) was just renovated, so the carpets, wall paint, bathrooms, etc. were all clean and fresh. Some minor negatives that come with a renovated place: the call button for the do not disturb was broken, so the maid would come in even when we had pressed it. The Internet cost 14 pounds a day, which was a bit pricey for my taste. Also, the clocks were not programmed correctly, and there was no way to fix them without having a special key from the housekeeping staff. My husband is used to staying in 5 star places. He was pleasantly surprised at the Walldorf and would stay there again. The location is AMAZING, and it is walkable to everywhere (including the Covent Gardens subway stop that leads right tot he airport..just a 5 minute walk with luggage in tow!)

We enjoyed the hotel however it was not what we expected from a 5 star Waldorf at all. We booked an executive room, a small suite. The carpet was old and dirty but the room was comfortable. The gym is not run by the hotel hence it is full of "outside" people pumping iron. Not a great environment at all. The breakfast was, as always in Hilton's, great. The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times

Location is great as it's nearby most mentionable sites and by my office, but service there always seems to be lacking. Two colleagues of mine were a day late due to a cancelled late-night airline flight, and their rates were bumped up to rack rate so they lost their early booking discounts... little to no acknowledgement from hotel staff and a couple of disenchanted guests who were paying for a week-long stay at extraordinary rates.

Great location to the center of the city. Beautiful rooms with nice decorations. One problem was that I asked for help with my heated towel rack (would not heat which is a nice perk with the freezing temperatures). It took multiple calls for them to look at it. They also added someone else's charges on to my bill--make sure to review your bill prior to leaving. Otherwise, it was a great stay and I will return.

The staff was very friendly and tried very hard. The concierge suggested very expensive restaurant without asking what our price range was, and did not give a complete location for the restaurant. We had to change a tour and he did not ask our ages to see if we qualified for a lower cost.
