I hope this review proves useful to those doing the Camino Portuguese Coastal Route. This hotel is located very close to a beautiful beach, about 5-10 minute walking distance. It is conveniently located as there is a small grocery close by as well as a laundry facility just around the block. It is also close the the town center and the train stop for Praia de Ancora. Most places are within 5-10 minute walking distance. The room was also very clean and the staff friendly, especially for weary travelers. Breakfast was also excellent with lots of choices of pastries.
The room was big and clean with a kingsize bed. There was also a big balcony, for rooms in the 1st foor. Big and new towels in the bathroom. However, the room has a double (false) ceiling and it clicks frequently. During the night it is frightning, sounding like the ceiling is going to crack and fall down on you. Therefore, it is not easy to sleep. The buffet is excellent. However, there were these two employees putting the table speaking loudly with each other and making a lot of noise with the dishes and forks, without any respect towards the guests, who just wished to take a nice and calm breakfast. The restaurant of the hotel was not very good: the fish was not fresh, although they told it was "the fish of the day".
A very nice hotel with a good pool and sun deck. Our room was clean and spacious. Dinner was buffet but quite good and breakfast was fine also. The staff are all very good. Location is central which we like.
We stayed here for one night while walking the Camino Portugués & it was the nicest hotel of our trip. From the minute we arrived, everything was fantastic. The lady working on reception was so kind & friendly. She went through the ferry times with us for the following morning. We realised that we would have to get the 09.00 ferry the following morning. We needed be on the road by 07.00 & therefore would have missed breakfast. No problem! They had a packed lunch ready for us at reception. It was delicious & such a thoughtful idea. The room was perfect - beautifully decorated & everything that you could need. There is a swimming pool although it is only 1 street up from the beach front. This hotel is definitely worth staying in. We were disappointed that we could only stay for 1 night & are already trying to plan a longer stay! One final thing, they gave us a "Camino" badge as a little souvenir. Such a great idea! We will always have it to remember our fab stay there.
The hotel is a few blocks the beach. Very close and easy walk to a beautiful beach. The hotel is beautiful with all facilities needed. A huge swimming pool in the center. Room was clean and spacious. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent. We had a very good meal. There is also a very nice bar for entertainment after your meal. It was a good stay and value for money. Professional and very helpful staff. The one lady is from South Africa and it was very helpful to have someone speaking English fluently. Please note that language can become a huge problem in this part of the world.
WOW! Wandering the World picked us a real winner. One block off the Atlantic this a fantastic surprise. Don't let the entrance fool you, it's small until you get inside, the hotel is fantastic, has a great bar & restaurant and then there is the pool. we walked to the beach for a swim (had a beer beachside) and then back to the hotel for a swim in the pool with a beer poolside......what a treat! staff are absolutely lovely and our room was overlooking the pool. so very good, need to find a way back!
Good hotel for our start of the Camino Portugues coastal route. Comfortable room although rather dark as it faced a small internal courtyard. Good food especially breakfast. Unfortunately the bar service was very slow and seemed disorganised. Reception staff made us very welcome.
We enjoyed a comfortable night on the Camino at this hotel. Staff was top notch changing our room to one away from the elevator. Room was comfortable and quiet with a view of the gardens. The hotel is big but it doesn't feel that way. We didn't have dinner Here but I wished we did. Our fellow walkers said the meal including a delicious salad was the best they had on the Camino. The breakfast was huge and varied in a pleasant dining room. I,took a dip in the pool and it was a perfect temperature.
Good value, lovely rooms, great breakfast buffet. Wonderful knowledgeable people at the front desk. The staff are definitely 5 star. We were heading north to Spain on a Monday, but the ferry does not on Monday. They contacted a local fisherman who got us to Spain.
The hotel is an older style, comfortable and in a great location near the town square. The reception staff were courtious and helpful. Our room on the first floor (122)is small but big enough for our bags. We do have a very large balcony, however due to wet weather we can’t make good use of it. The large bed (two single joined) are comfortable but hard & there are plenty of pillows. There is secure WiFi available & medium sized flat screen TV. There is also a small fridge & airconditioning. The bathroom is a decent size & we had a bath/shower which has moderate pressure and good heat. We had dinner at the hotel and it was a pleasant meal as was breakfast buffet the next morning.
