We stayed at the mercure in Olbia this august and our experience was less then perfect. The view overlooked a car junkyard to one side and an abandoned social housing complex on the other. The air conditioning recycled the neighbour’s cigaret smoke (surprised smoking was allowed indoors). Bottles of water in the fridge were unsealed. The spa was inaccessible unless reserved a few days in advance. The hotel is way overpriced for what it is. Think twice before reserving at this hotel.
We booked this trip a while ago for our honeymoon and we were really nervous because we hadn’t ever travelled together ( Perhaps should have done that before getting married) Olbia doesn’t have a great reputation of things to do but it is what you make it! We went there with a totally open mind not expecting anything and we had a great time. We arrived at the hotel around 13:00 and check in was at 14:00. We had emailed to enquire about early check in but they did explain it was peak season so they may struggle so we waited at the bar and had a drink. Around 13:45 a lovely staff member came and checked us in and gave us some a drinks token and a free wellness journey for the spa which was a lovely surprise. We went to our room which was big and spacious and the bed was massive! A few minutes later we had a knock at the door and the bar man had bought us a bottle of bubbly and a fruit platter and wished us a congratulations on our marriage. It was perfect! The Hotel was had a quiet and relaxed feeling about it. The staff were friendly and we struggled not knowing the language but they were keen to help and teach us some lingo. The room was amazing it had sky tv (if you click the “I” button the you have the option to change the language to english speaking, mostly on the main channels such as Fox and Sky one). There was a Coffee machine ( Proper coffee) and fridge ( We took the shelves out to get the beer and water bottles to fit) and also complimentary everything! Toothbrush and paste, shampoo, body wash, lotion, shaving kit, shoe shin and sewing! The spa was separate to the hotel and you had to pay (€18 PP for the wellness journey but before 12am there was a deal of €10 PP) but we didn’t mind HOWEVER in the lobby there is a sign saying they are in the process of getting a pool in 2018!! The hotel has a “happy hour” every night with drinks very reasonably priced and included some snack at the bar which were amazing! Try the cheese! Its delicious and local! There is a lovely pizza place around the corner called Rocket to Pizza who do the BEST pizza in town and its cheap! We will be back to stay here again and even more excited for the new pool as they will be a very much in demand hotel. Thank you for such an amazing break, it was perfect and you made us feel very welcome!
Except the view is horrible but honestly it didn't bother us at all. Room service was not very good despite we went to the reception and asked for better cleaning up and fill up once. Beside these two things our stay was amazing, breakfast was good, very nice location and a big (free) parking lot.
Good hotel with very good facilities, gym, spa, soft play for kids... Staff are friendly Only drawback is not by the beach and hotel doesnt provide beach towels for free Also, they offer a shuttle bus twice in mornung and twice around 5, remember to book it the night before as they only have an 8 seater bus and if not booked you cant get in as they re not willing to add extra shuttles for hotel residents! Hotel is 10 minutes away from amazing restaurants!
It's an ok hotel but given the price (€280/night), I would have expected more. Location and parking are a plus, but I leave feeling completely ripped off for the following reasons: - no beach towels, they offered charging €5 for the day (nobody stays in Olbia, it's 100% a beach destination, come on!) - the cleaning service does not change towels unless you leave them a mess inside the shower - the cleaning service does not sweep: there's a ball of hair of mine that fell out of the dustbin and is still there - breakfast: to be fair, it's good, but: staff make you feel they're doing you a favour, they're very aware of where you choose to sit which I found annoying, they don't clear plates until you're gone, and most importantly to me, again this is a €280 hotel, CHINA WAS BROKEN, not once but twice we were served tea in a chopped teapot (different teapots) - pool is not working yet - they turn off the main elevator so you have to use the service one - air conditioning does not work properly - not suitable for light sleepers: you get a lot of light in the morning and is located right by the train final station All in all, I repeat, I felt ripped off. It's not a hostel but they sure made me feel like in one even though the price we paid!
I used the spa facilities which came with the package I booked on two consecutive days. Amazing facilities. Not crowded, great pool. Very well maintained facilities. Excellent gym. 5 minute walk to town centre and port. Very impressed with friendliness of staff. Issues resolved immediately. 10/10
We stayed there last night before end of holidays and taking plane back from Olbia airport. The hotel is nice and comfortable. The rooms are medium size. It has a spa and gym. Internet connection is available and works fine. Breakfast is good. Location is not bad but a little bit outside downtown / port. It has a convenient parking
We stayed here for one night to be close to the airport upon departure home. The outside and blue color makes it look older, but when you enter the lobby its actually newly renovated and very nice. Friendly staff witch gave us a free welcome drink of our choice from the bar. And a baby crib already placed in the room. Rooms were very nice and a comfy bed (witch is hard to find in Italy) breakfast was delicate and very attentive staff! Would stay here again!
Mercure Hotel is one of the best.Too many facilities. Rooms are always clean. Moreover receptionists are always kind and willing to answer in any question you have. Guys in breakfast also are very kind and available ,willing to help you any time .Therefore there is the gym where Antonio is a professional as a personal training always over your head to help you as well as the other two guys also .bravissimi.I have been in all over the world's hotels and I think this is one of the best choice .thank you all once again ..
The Mercure in Oblia, Sardinia is a nice, clean and modern hotel with a very attentive staff. It is located about 5 minutes walk from Corso Umberto, which is the main attraction in Olbia as it is a street with most of the restaurants and shops you would want to visit. However, you have to walk through a not dangerous but somewhat seedy area and cross train tracks with no sidewalk so it is not the best walk. As for the hotel itself, the room was air conditioned (though I had to turn the A/C down pretty low to get it cool) and the beds were big and comfortable. The room itself was a good size. They have a bar in the lobby and a spa 1 floor down. The spa costs 19 Euros for 2 hours and has 2 saunas and 2 steam rooms and a cold pool and some other things. I personally would not go into a sauna unless you paid me but my wife, who loves saunas, said the spa was worth every penny so if you are into that sort of thing, there's is evidently good. All in all, if this hotel were closer to Corso Umberto, I would give it 5 stars.
